But you've lost the ability to use the device while it's charging.
Maybe a tablet is a little bit better but it's still tied to being on the charger
It's not like you're using the device while doing other stuff, like sleeping.

It's not like you're using the device while doing other stuff, such as working on the computer or watching tv or reading or any of a bazillion other things you do while awake during which your phone could be low on battery???

I think you've missed my point though - it's fine while you sleep because you're not using it. But like mobrockers said, you do use it throughout the day. Wireless charging gives you two choices - you can use the device, or you can charge it.

not like i need it ever 2 sec. i use it, put it back and pull it away when i get a text or whatever, then back on it goes.
been doing it since I got my N5, battery is still fine too. Charge can last me well over a day if used right.
my moto 360 has a dead pixel near the top of the screen

I don't think you understand what I'm saying though. Yeah, you can grab it off when you need it for a second, but if you're trying to charge the device but want to have a conversation or use an app, you're kinda out of luck
You could hold the wireless charger with the phone at the same time and use the phone and charge it at the same time :v:

sometimes i leave it on there because I dont need it, so it will charge on its own.
and if i need it pick it up and set it back down. simple as that.
if i was going to charge my phone i'd plug it in, but if im just going to be sporadic about it then wireless is fine for me.
it will keep a nice % of life, and won't fall.
that's how i use it, and look at it.
I weighted all pros and cons about wireless charging.
Might get one, I had 800 EUR to spend on brand new phone, I really doubt Nexus 6/X will cost anything close to that, so may as well spend on accessories.
Are wireless chargers universal? Also any good suggestions for which one to get? Preferably not some cheap ass crap.

pros:
-fast
-super fast
-where the hell has lte been in my life
cons:
-big
-pretty big
-oh god why do I have such small hands
also boomsound is kinda rubbish with my iems it just adds unnecessary bass it seems
sounds good in my car for most songs but it messes up how some of my songs sound.

I recommend keeping BoomSound off for headphones. It also seems to add compression or something so the volume can get wacky.
I find the onboard audio good enough as it is.

i'm partial to the nexus wireless charger
make sure the phone you buy has it though. if shamu is really based off the moto x, it's unlikely that it has wireless, which feels really weird to regress on.
i'm leaning towards there being a n5 sized model, the n6, and the n9
n10 is completely dead at this point, n7 hasn't been refreshed yet so it's dead, google likes the three size setup

got one off ebay, super cheap, it was listed on XDA as one of the best, cheap ones off eBay. Less than $10.
yo if you have an android wear watch install this shit:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.npi.wearminilauncher
it puts an app drawer on your homescreen(or watch face, whatever it's called). This makes touch navigation SO MUCH EASIER.

There are people not using this already?
I've been using this since the week it came out
Speaking about wireless charging, does it work via NFC, or does not use some other technology in the battery itself? My phone surprisingly has NFC here.
It uses coil induction iirc, passes a current through a coil and gives off an electric field which is picked up by another coil in the back of the phone.
At least that's my vauge understanding of it :v:

NFC is like short range wifi

Actually nfc is more like wireless charging than wifi, thought it really isn't anything like either.
Can someone recommend me a good prepaid carrier for Oregon, mainly around Portland and Salem.
Making my way there in a week or so and I really don't want to pay out of the ass for international roaming.

I heard pre-paid T-Mobile is a good pick for people visiting the States.
The sim card is like $15, if you select the $30/month plan you get 5GB of LTE, unlimited HSPA (probably throttled) afterwards, 100 USA-wide minutes and unlimited SMS/MMS and the usual Caller ID and some other features included. Now get unlimited international texting from the U.S. to virtually anywhere included in your plan—at no extra charge.
You can go to a local Walmart or gas station to buy one for $35 and you'll be set for the month, then top up for however long you're staying.

Coverage wise, the areas you mentioned have good LTE coverage with good signal in the city/suburbs areas.

That, and check if your current provider has a roaming plan that might even be less expensive.
I used T-mobile in Japan and got great coverage and unltd texts / calls / 2G data for $60/mo.
Wireless charging is for periods of time when you're not using your device, but it's mainly for maintenance charging, i.e, keeping your device at around 100%, instead of it being at around maybe 50% at the end of the day. I'd also like it in my car, where I'm not actively using it, but it's still using a bit of power on streaming music, and since I'm going somewhere, I'd really like my device to be charged.
If you want fast charging, or if you use your phone as a wifi hotspot during the night, use an OEM charger, they're usually the only ones that'll actually give you the amperage advertised, and that your phone wants.
Why do more manufacturers not put wrist-strap loops on their devices? It's not as if it takes up too much space in the device, or increases manufacturing costs. The Z3 is the only device with one, it looks like...
It's not a dealbreaker, and I'm still going to get the Moto X+1, but it's a feature I'd like. :/
The past few months my phone has been making a weird noise, i always thought it was due to me turning the screen off (as that's when it tends to happen). But my girlfriend pointed out that it might be my nfc debit card, and what do you know after all this time it is
.
Same thing happened with my friend, I got in his car and heard it going off, asked him if he had an NFC card there, "nope", but then we looked through his phone wallet, and what'd you know? We found the NFC bus card in there. I had the same thing a couple times when I first got a bus card, when I had it in the same pocket as my phone.
Well, I've joined the Android world. Now I'm just like the cool kids!

Here's my list:
8tracks - Good for discovering new music without adverts.
ES File Explorer - Free file manager, lots of features though slightly bloated.
Flud - Best torrent app, no question.
Greenify - Hibernates apps when not in use, good for battery saving.
Google Keep - Nice notes app with reminders.
MX Player - Fast and hardware optimized video player.
Pushbullet - Extremely useful tool for sending links, files and images to and from your phone to your computer.
Google Opinion Rewards - Free google play credit!
Poweramp - Massively feature rich music player, does cost though.
Shuttle - Nicer looking music player, less features but free.
TickTick - Great app for to-do lists and reminders.
Orbot - Enables tunnelling through the Tor network, good for privacy on wifi though transparent proxying requires root.
SwiftKey - IMO the best keyboard out there, mainly because of it's predictions.
Reddit Sync - My personal favourite reddit app, though there are alternatives that some people prefer like BaconReader and reddit is fun.
If your rooted:
AdAway - Edits hosts file and blocks adverts on apps and websites.
Sixaxis Controller - PS3 controller support!
Xposed Framework - Use only on stock android, enables the use of apps that require elevated access to Android including various tweaks and mods.
I'm guessing you have most of the useful Google apps like Docs, Drive and such already.
