Oneplus one's auto brightness is garbage. Its always too bright, at least for me. In doors, the phone is perfectly usable on the dimmest settings.
I don't think i've ever had a device where auto-brightness worked well.
stick the oneplus at about 40%. probably the best compromise in terms of brightness to power usage
What's expanded desktop?
CM lets you tweak that stuff:

It's at 9% by default when it detects no light.

It makes software buttons disappear when not used, and appear if you swipe from down, from anywhere in any app. So it does not take space if you dont use keys. Compromise between software buttons and hardware :)
expanded desktop hides the top bar and makes it something you swipe down from the top edge to access rather than being a static item

Oh hey the app updated so I can actually see my reward history. That's useful.
Since the One + One is running Cyanogemod is it already pre-rooted? It just popped my mind and that kind of confuses me. CM is not a custom Rom in this case.

google don't let them pre-root phones.

No, i forgot to root my phone too and now i'm lazy to do it. I don't want to set everything up again.
Then I just hope I still can get OTA updates when I rooted it.

You will. You'll lose root after the update though, but you can always just re-flash the root binaries and you'll be fine.
No, i forgot to root my phone too and now i'm lazy to do it. I don't want to set everything up again.
this is the biggest reason why i'm waiting for a stable L release for my Nexus 5. My friend flashed L and went back a couple hours later.
i hate setting up everything all over again..really irritating

+ free
+ does brilliantly by default
+ you can set it so it only changes brightness when you turn on the screen (no sudden changes)
+ highly configurable
+ manual intervention in drop down notification is possible
- permanent notification

+ While CM's brightness thing is good, Lux is much more powerful and works on non-CM roms.

but would it wipe everything like rooting the first time or not?
but would it wipe everything like rooting the first time or not?
No, it won't wipe anything. Rooting itself doesn't wipe anything, it literally just copies a superuser binary to the system partition.
The reason you have to wipe the phone the first time is that you need a unlocked bootloader to flash unsigned files (files not signed by the phone manufacturer). Unlocking the bootloader is the thing that wipes the phone, it will never re-lock by itself.
Looking to upgrade from my old and broken Galaxy Nexus; since Google didn't bother refreshing the Nexus 5, I thought I'd go with the HTC One (M8) instead (since it has a GPe version).
Does anyone here have experience with the HTC One?
Android L easter egg is impossible.

I have the Sense version, and I love it. Really, its only flaw is the camera really, because its sort of meh. Not awful, if you actually know how to use it, but easily the worst of the flagships. The camera is better than the GNex one though, so there's that. Everything else about it though, the speakers/DAC, screen, battery life, performance and such are all rock solid and its a massive upgrade from the GNex.
I haven't used a non-Sense ROM yet, but I can't imagine its any worse.

Thanks, I don't take a lot of pictures so camera doesn't bother me that much :v:.
How's the size? It seems quite big, but that seems to be the trend lately

Its actually about perfect size for me really. A little bigger than the GNex, and a little taller, but not a ton. If you were comfortable on the GNex, you will probably be fine on it.
One note is that its pretty slick on the back. Its not glossy, but its brushed aluminum so there's not a ton of texture to grip with your fingers like on the GNex. I would recommend a case if you have troubles gripping your phones.

I don't know which one is more aggravating
Seriously, I used to say "eh MP3's fine" until I was fucking about and decided to compare it to OGG
Holy fuck why are we still using it, I couldn't hear a difference between MP3 320 and OGG 98
yeah, I used to do this on my Moto G. I just compressed all my music down to 128kbps OGGs, which was a quarter of the size of 320kbps MP3s and the same quality to my ears.
I really hope cyanogen are quick to update to L. I'm so excited to have a nice new UI
do an abx test with good 320kbps MP3 and OGG/FLAC. you won't be able to tell the difference
whats the delivery time on the OPO after purchasing from their site? I live in the uk.
