Testing if I can post from the FP app [editline]31st May 2013[/editline] Awesome it still works
More questions for you Android experts! So my flashes went like this so far: stock > cyanogenmod > paranoid android I've decided to stick to Paranoid Android for now. The only thing I really don't like is how you can't fully disable Pie, but I can deal with that, really. 1) how comes DSP Manager and the File Manager from Cyanogenmod are still here even though I'm not on it anymore? And I can't seem to uninstall either of them. DSP Manager isn't doing anything at all when I poke the settings. I think there's also a Movie Studio app that's lying around in a similar manner. I like the Cyano File Manager a lot (better than ES by far) but I don't wanna start relying on an app that might disappear next time I update P.A. or something like that. 2) concerning Titanium Backup: is it fully reliable when it comes to restoring application data? it seems to have restored only a portion of my apps when I switched to P.A. -- Twitter didn't seem to retain my login, for example. 3) are there any troubles that can arise from restoring user data like that? 4) I saw there's an option for making your titanium backup into an update.zip. does that mean next time I wanna flash something, I can flash rom.zip, gapps.zip and then backup.zip, so I instantly get my backup without having to sit through 40 "do you want to install this APK" screens?

If you're familiar with Linux, PDroid is to CM what Ubuntu is to Debian. But unless there's a critical bug in it that I'm not aware of, it should be OK to do it like that.
ParanoidAndroid is based off CyanogenMod. If you're familiar with Linux, PDroid is to CM what Ubuntu is to Debian.
Really? I thought they stopped being CM-based and went to AOSP instead (?) Last question: When I first transferred cm.zip and gapps.zip over to my sdcard via ADB, it went to the "root" of my user space. So basically the default. All good. But when I pushed another zip (paranoid android), it went into another folder... for some unknown reason... and I can't find it. Argh [editline]31st May 2013[/editline] The question would be: why and where?
They started using a virtual SD card in 4.2, right? It'll be somewhere in your "0" folder.
Really? I thought they stopped being CM-based and went to AOSP instead (?)
First I've heard of such a change, and Googling only seems to say that the Nexus 7 section of XDA voted for a change to an AOSP base with some features ripped from CM. I would imagine the CM File Manager is one of those features.
Last question: When I first transferred cm.zip and gapps.zip over to my sdcard via ADB, it went to the "root" of my user space. What is the point of those 0 folders
Internal storage or the SDcard perhaps? /storage/sdcard0 /storage/sdcard1
Found it again... it was in some "emulated" media folder and I had to toggle root to access it. Yet another question: I got my rom from here http://goo.im/devs/paranoidandroid/roms/i9300/ I don't suppose those are official, right? How do I figure out where it came from and whatnot
goo.im is a pretty reputable site, so even if that's not the "official" place to get them (I don't actually know), it's a decent one. They do have the paranoid-rom.com domain though.
Just downloaded a new keyboard beta. Its called Fleksy and it looks really cool. http://www.droid-life.com/2013/05/30/fleksy-keyboard-beta-released-to-google-play-join-the-group-and-try-it-yourself/
I don't know, the plastic case seems to have a lot of give. I've dropped Samsung phones before without cases and the back battery compartment just fell off with no visible damage. Compare that to the HTC's Aluminum or Iphone's glass backs which can scratch and shatter if you even look at it funny. Not to mention it's loads easier to repair a Samsung product.
This is something I've disagreed with and that's because at least with the iPhone vs GS3/GS4, the Galaxy displays are much tougher to get off, especially now that with the iPhone 5, the screen comes off first and since the iPhone 4, the displays haven't been glued on. No idea how serviceable the One is but I'm going to wager "not very."
I don't know if you already know, but by choosing "None" in the trigger area options for Pie, you'll "disable" it.
Ah, thanks :D Okay, I think this should be my real last question for now: I get the "3 dots" menu buttons in apps even though, since I'm on a S3, these are useless to me (there's a menu button below the screen). Downside is wasted space and, if I press the menu button that's below the screen, the menu will open where the "3 dots" button is placed (often on the other side of the screen). Annoying! I can't figure out how to disable them. Google results point me towards "Settings > System > Hardware keys > Show action overflow", but I do not seem to have a "settings > system".
What is the point of those 0 folders
Multi-user. New users will get emulated 1 2 etc
What is the point of those 0 folders
default user is user 0

No yes? Try poking around in your customization settings, it should be there.

Can you find any options responsible for "navigation bar" or "navigation something"?
Can you find any options responsible for "navigation bar" or "navigation something"?
The only one I found was the nav bar size in ParanoidPreferences. It's for hiding the on screen buttons (so I set it to 0%)
The only one I found was the nav bar size in ParanoidPreferences. It's for hiding the on screen buttons (so I set it to 0%)
I don't know if you can get any closer to disabling it than that. :v: There is usually an on or off button in AOSP and AOKP. Dunno about Paranoid Android, but now that you say you disabled it like that then I wouldn't be surprised if that's how you're supposed to do it.
Hey I have a question for you U.S. Nexus 4 owners. What carrier are you on? My mom is considering switching my family over to T-Mobile because of their nocontract plans for our new phones and so far her experience with T-Mobile on her unlocked iPhone 4S hasn't been great. I'm thinking I might buy a nexus 4 from T-Mobile since its unlocked and comes with insurance but I'd like to hear what carriers you guys are on and how speeds and coverage are in your experience.
I don't know if you can get any closer to disabling it than that. :v:
I think there's a misunderstanding: my problem is completely unrelated to the nav bar [editline]31st May 2013[/editline] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3797350/2013-05-31%2004.15.40.png[/t] It's about buttons like these in the upper right corner appearing; and because of them, menus appear below them. If they're not there (and they shouldn't since the S3 has a menu & back buttons below the screen), the menu would appear, centered, at the bottom of the screen
overflow button != menu button yes the hardware button triggers the overflow but technically they have separate intents [editline]30th May 2013[/editline] hardware menu buttons are a bad holdover the overflow button in the action bar can never be hidden shoulda bought a nexus
This is all I have I've looked around those and can't find it :(
Not to sound like a dick or anything, but did you try scrolling the left pane around?
default user is user 0
Why should these folders appear when I'm the only user?
It blows my mind how good the One is at indoor photos. The 8X for my room lit up will take a photo at 1/12s and 1200 ISO. The One takes it at 1/15s and 640 ISO.
Why should these folders appear when I'm the only user?
so that if you make a user later on things won't just be sitting in user/ while there's also a user/1/
