I really wish they made the Nexus 6 a little smaller... I really want to get it but I know a phablet isn't for me.
Now I don't know what I want. M8, S5, G3... and I'm not waiting for a 1+1

You're too new here for that.
Franco R29 for the OnePlus is out. New touchscreen firmware in it. The difference is fucking incredible.
So what is the big difference between the stock kernel and this? Never gotten into kernel flashing since the Roms I was using on my Note already had a fairly good one.
Googling for it only results in an installer and people in several forums being happy that the kernel is available for their device.

With the 1+ how do I stop the theme engine changing the look of applications. I want my Gmail and Play store to look like the google material updated versions and not the skinned ones from the theme

You can select the stock Android theme instead of the 1+1 theme that is on by default.

It is all or nothing. The only way to have everything except Gmail and Playstore changed is to remove the Theme parts of those apps from the APK.
To do that find any program to open the APK, browse to: "assets->overlays" and delete the unwanted app folder.
I cannot recommend any program atm since I am at work and just extracted a Theme apk on my phone to get the path.
Just got this message:
Nexus 6 Release sent you a note a minute ago
Preorders are live!
WHERE!??!

Oh not in the Netherlands mkay.
Ready to upgrade from my S3. The Nexus looks nic, but the lack of external storage is a bummer. Looking at the LG G3 and the Z3v (which is supposedly a repackaged Z2). The LG has a massive Quad HD screen while the Z3v is waterproof and has a better camera.
Any suggestions?

Voltage Control (I've undervolted mine 75mv no problem)
Replaced Qualcomm's slow/high latency CPU freq changer (MPDecision) with his own in-kernel driver.
Replaced factory thermal controller with his own in-kernel one that keeps the phone cooler longer and prevents thermal throttling.
His own totally rewritten Hotplug driver built into Interactive.
New GPU driver that's way lighter on battery with no performance loss.
Beside that, patches from CM nightly, various battery improvements/patches including a CPU patch from Nvidia, and some other things.
Pretty much a flash and forget kernel. You don't need to tweak it at all. I've only undervolted, switched deadline to ROW, and used the Hybla TCP Congestion Algorithm.
Battery life is way better, the phone runs way smoother, and it hasn't gotten hot on me once. The stock CM kernel got hot on the first day.
That and it gets you the new touchscreen firmwares way, way sooner.
It's weird, since I've got OPO I fell in love with red color.
Today I ended up going shopping and getting all clothes with red/black color mix.

Flash and forget sounds awesome. Had any problems with it, like random reboots, crashes etc? Phone also got hot on me on the first day, less hot than my Note, so I didn't mind that much.

A while back everyone would link to Facepunch as "fucking incredible" so now google displays Facepunch in the first few results for that search.

Not a single one. Franco's well known for stable kernels.
Between using ART and the undervolt, that's quite an achievement for this kernel.
Last update re-added support for the performance controls in CM11s. Only thing currently known to be broken is booting under encryption, but he's working on that next.
Ah, I also forgot this one:
It has a brand new WiFi driver from CM nightly that solves the random drops and low bandwidth issues.
Even tho I doubt my OpO uses ART I will probably flash the kernel once I get home. Hopefully nothing goes wrong.

I'd manually flash the zip in recovery. Safer.
Swapping to ART might not be a bad tweak when you're done :D

Is there any decent file browser that doesn't slap me in the face with ads? I tried a quick query and all I found was ROMs that added it, but not the actual deal.

I have the Moto X 2nd gen. Though I'm happy with it, the Nexus 6 does look like a better phone. I'd say just go by which ever size you like better.
[editline]29th October 2014[/editline]
Also fuck the "2nd gen/Year version" naming scheme. It just makes things confusing.

I really wish apps like the CM File Manager were released standalone so you could just grab them from the store or flash them, I feel dirty using a file manager that isn't built into a rom that always seems vastly better.
I dont get that "fucking incredible" search result for Facepunch, but I also dont remember it.
Anyway, does flashing kernel does something to OTAs and do I have to reflash it or something?
