I dont get that "fucking incredible" search result for Facepunch, but I also dont remember it.
Anyway, does flashing kernel does something to OTAs and do I have to reflash it or something?
I OTA'd straight to 38R while running Franco. I only had to rename one file in system, and that's because of the change to the thermal driver.
The newer ones also make a WiFi driver change. You can either rename 2 files when the next OTA comes, or grab a flashable zip of 38R and do a dirty flash without wiping anything, then directly OTA. The OTA's don't check what kernel you're running.

For future reference what are those two files and will you still get notified if there is an OTA pending. Reflashing the Kernel seems to be not needed as far as I understand.
Woo woo, got a ota update for my G2 on its stock rom. I think it's 4.4.4 but my phone's battery is too low to update

God fucking Damn it. My posts keep disappearing when I hit quick reply
[editline]30th October 2014[/editline]
It wasn't 4.4.4, all the websites saying it was coming by the end of the month to the G2 were wrong. Just a minor update. :(
Would you lads know how to get my LG Gpad 8.3 which is running LG stock onto Google Stock
starting to hate LG's firmware, getting really annoying and would rather stock or probably OmniROM stock

I don't know off hand, but they'll be made very public when the next OTA arrives.
You'll be notified of all OTAs.
The new Reddit News update looks fantastic, especially with the night theme.

Pretty happy with CM11s. It's nice looking with the right theme :D
Buying an S5, durable, removable back... Most important features to me.
TOO BAD 1+1 CANT GET THEIR PHONES OUT FAST ENOUGH. I would have been all over that but I can't go another week in my junior year of college without a fucking cellphone.

Oh god Samdung
1+1 is hard to get and all, but you don't have to commit phone suicide over it.
On another note; Franco R30 is out. Yet ANOTHER new touch panel firmware in it.
Is there any decent file browser that doesn't slap me in the face with ads? I tried a quick query and all I found was ROMs that added it, but not the actual deal.
this is one of my favorites

More 1+1 good press, it's everything the iPhone isn't (which kind of sums up a lot of Android devices for that matter tho)

What is a good music player that doesn't suck battery that much? So far I am using shuttle, but it seems to suck a bit too much battery. Or I am just paranoid.
I've got one Inbox invite left, anyone want one?
Edit: Gone! I'll post back here if I get more

Shuttle for sure, no battery problems here. If you want light though there's nothing more bare bones than Apollo.
How did Franco go?

I prefer this.
Converted my HTC One M8 to the Google Play edition. Was much easier than I expected.
Took my phone in to have it repaired, they couldn't fix it so I'm getting a new one in next week. Played with some of the display phones while I waited. The Sharp Crystal looks neat, but feels cheap as fuck.

like some stuff says it works with 4.4.2 and then others say it only works with 4.2.2
I'm so fucking confused
HEY so you guys probably know a lot about android stuff
my phone is galaxy s4 4.4.2 sch-i545
i rooted it a while ago with towelroot, it was working fine up until an update a few weeks ago im guessing
today i tried downloading something from the play store but it just told me "no connection" every time even though i was on wifi
it also said my google account was not syncing, so i removed it but im not able to re add it because of some connection issue
googled and tried most of the stuff (reset time, check proxy settings, clear cache) but it didnt work!!!
im guessing its something fucked up with /etc/hosts, but i cant edit it since i dont have root anymore
also i kinda need to keep the data on my phone but if it's necessary i can reset everything
so is there anything i can do?

Just was gifted this HTC Sensation 4G off Gaboer.
For some reason, even though the phone's all grunged up, hardly holds a charge, the screen is low-resolution, tiny and low-fidelity in comparison to my Optimus G Pro and the device has all of 1GB of usable internal storage, I'm liking it a lot.
It's small and usable in one hand, and actually fits in my pocket if I sit.
It has a big metal bezel around a sunk-in screen which makes a cracked screen less of an issue.
The screen is already grunged up so I don't really have to worry about wiping my fingerprints at all.
It runs Kit Kat fine and laglessly, working well with Android Wear.
The ugly rubber back holds firmly in the hand and doesn't slip in my fingers like the E980.
For some reason, this scratched-up thing from 2011 is something wonderful even today. Time to get a new battery and a 32GB microSD card to make it a DD.

Flashed r29, no problems so far. Then r30 was released and I flashed that one as well. Still no problems except wifi taking more battery. Still need to figure out how to tweak the kernel.

Install the Franco Kernel Updater from the store (Paid) and you can tweak everything.

Honestly although it's pretty lame it's not per device, LG is pretty decent to deal with. The G2(similar) is piss easy to work on and other than the battery which is slightly glued you can get a whole front casing for $100, batteries for $10 and rear covers for like $20 so you could literally fully refurbish your phone for $130ish.

so i fixed it, if anybody finds this through google here is what i did:
i flashed the kernal from ng6 to nc5 using odin
rooted it using towelroot while on nc5
flashed it back to ng6
used total commander to comment out the second line in /etc/hosts so that there would only be 127.0.0.1 localhost
all my data is intact so huzzah
I had a 1st gen Moto G which I broke a while ago and having dealt with a shit phone for too long I want to buy it again. I can only seem to find the 2nd gen one which is more expensive for no real increase in specs and the Moto E which seems worse than the 1st gen Moto G. Does anyone know where to buy a new 1st gen moto G? I'd rather not get it off ebay
I've found it for like £130 but I swear it was cheaper before
I bought a Nexus 7 (2013) and a case for it that auto-sleeps and wakes when the case is closed/open. Initially I thought it was using the light sensor, but it doesn't. What magic is this?
