What made you decide against Z3?
Apparently it had even more bloatware
Apparently it had even more bloatware
It can pretty easily be disabled. I don't even think it has that much bloatware. You've got Social Life, Support, Video unlimited, Walkman, Xperia Lounge, File commander, Smart connect.
Apparently it had even more bloatware
Sony from what I've seen are very community oriented and provide a lot of resources for those developing custom ROMs and such, so it wouldn't be hard to get rid of. IIRC they actually provide the needed files to build from AOSP.
Apparently it had even more bloatware
Yes, but it can be removed easily
What's the best way to remove ads root or not? My mom keeps clicking those "27 viruses detected click me" ads and I've got to do something

I'm loving my G3. Getting used to Swype took a little time but within a few hours it was pretty simple. I thought it was going to make my spelling worse but now I have to quickly think how to spell a word so I feel more cognitively aware when I use my phone. I traded in my broken iPhone 5, shot battery and lighting port and got over 250 dollars for it from the Sprint buy-back program. I saw a few iPhone 5 on my local craigslist going for like 150 and there was nothing wrong with them. So I got a really nice case, a 40$ tempered glass screen protector, a very nice extra charging cable, and still have 153 dollars on my sprint account. I'm honestly really satisfied with my local Sprint store right now. Getting used to the big screen and texting but I'm slowly getting used to it. I find myself not responding to texts immediately which is probably good because I was feeling I texted wayyyy too much on my iPhone. Or maybe I was just to busy in general to bother responding to texts this weekend. Supes happy.
You can always use a custom ROM.
Not on the S5.
decided to install a rom on my g3. man everything is so different from the htc hero days. [editline]9th November 2014[/editline] uh oh. [editline]9th November 2014[/editline] send help
What are the advantages of installing Cyanogen on my Moto G?

But why are you copying boot.img to your phone.
I'm not sure if its different on the G3, but why are you copying boot.img to your phone.
its a zip. i can copy any other file over, but zips just wont go through.
its a zip. i can copy any other file over, but zips just wont go through.
Try copying the ZIP to a subfolder. That's how I have to do it on my M8. Either that or push it using ADB.
Try copying the ZIP to a subfolder. That's how I have to do it on my M8.
doesn't matter now because my phone is fucking bricked. very cool. i restarted it to see if maybe that would fix it and now it wont even boot into recovery.
doesn't matter now because my phone is fucking bricked. very cool. i restarted it to see if maybe that would fix it and now it wont even boot into recovery.
Does LG have some sort of last resort recovery utility like an RUU?
Does LG have some sort of last resort recovery utility like an RUU?
I can't even get it to show download mode.
I can't even get it to show download mode.
Well, good luck with that then. EDIT: Whoa, our post counts are anagrams.
Well, good luck with that then. EDIT: Whoa, our post counts are anagrams.
Thanks, worst comes to worse i'll just go to the t-mobile store and get it replaced.
Apparently it had even more bloatware
Sony UI is literally a skinned version of the stock UI, most of the bloatware is just apps, which you can uninstall pretty easily. If anything there's a lack of software features compared to an S5, in my opinion, having used a S5 vs my Z1. But if you were to just choose between the S5 and G3. I'd go with the G3, since it should be more mod friendly then the S5.
Yeah, it looks like the only way to get it fixed is to go to the t-mobile store. The device isn't even showing up in device manager. [editline]9th November 2014[/editline] T-mobile is sending me a referb g3, which should be here on Tuesday. Then I have to send my G3 back to them and they keep it or something like that. Hopefully they won't see that i installed a recovery or something like that and charge me $550.

Tmobile has excellent support. the refurb they sent me broke too, and sent me another next day delivery. i had 3 fucking nexus 5's at one point. just send it back in the box you get the new one, and you're all set. but have you searched XDA? and yeah i hope tmobile doesn't determine that, but doubtful they will charge you. never know though..
So my dad was at a work conference in the states and for some reason they gave everyone there free Galaxy Tab 4s. He's giving it to me once he returns soon since he would have no use of it and also to replace the Nexus 7 Tablet (that he also got for free 2 years ago) that he gave to me which has a broken screen (It reacts to phantom touch inputs.) I hear these aren't the best of tablets. I don't know whether this is immoral, but should I sell the Tab 4 and use the money to fix the screen of the Nexus 7?
(I'm guessing it's a 2012 model nexus 7) I don't think it's worth fixing a 2012 nexus 7; I'd give the Galaxy Tab 4 a try and if you don't like it sell it and look for something new.
My roommate who JUST bought his S5 has been playing around with my G3 the last few days and he occasionally looks at is like he wish he got this instead. I don't like people feeling envious of what I have. He just got it and was so pleased with it. Makes me sad.

[editline]9th November 2014[/editline] send help
You should have used PurpleDrake and just installed TWRP, you have a D851 with an unlocked bootloader what are you even doing I don't remember needing to copy any sort of boot.img.. I would assume you can just Towelroot/root and use Flashify to install TWRP, download a rom on your phone then boot to recovery and flash it. If you choose wipe phone or whatever in the stock recovery with TWRP it boots to TWRP. T-Mobile is awesome to deal with though, you can return or JUMP literally anything that boots and if it's bricked and you did it they could really care less as they just want to keep you happy unless the people at the store are dicks. Help is coming to the G3 though, Houstonn will be building PA for it and they just got the bootloader unlocked finally so the development scene can finally start rolling through. I don't regret what so ever returning it in July though, Houstonn's PA scores higher benchmarks than the 801 G3 anyways and thanks to the G3 we're finally going to get rolling on a proper unlocked kitkat bootloader supposedly too. http://www.reddit.com/r/LGG3/comments/2bttx3/screen_sharpening_comparison/ Middle is LG G3. It has the sharpening jacked up in the panel firmware or drivers, it's literally one of the worst screens ever put in a phone because of the settings being all screwed up absolutely ruining the appearance of any text on a light background. G3 owners are in horrible denial of this though and instantly cut you down insulting your eyes and other retarded stuff because they haven't touched anything but the stock rom and never ever use the phone for anything but texting and Facebook.
I've only seen the sharpening issue when I drag down the notification bar the last time I looked at a LG G3.
I've only seen the sharpening issue when I drag down the notification bar the last time I looked at a LG G3.
I saw it on almost every webpage in a browser, there was also a very bleak outlook on 3rd party development which was just opened up days ago almost 6 months after release. http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/psa-stop-taking-ota-updates-update-t2909412 Anyone with a G3 might also want to read that with the Android L OTA in the coming weeks.
I played with one at the sprint store while I was getting my phone repaired and noticed a little bit of excess sharpening
