you've reminded me to flash twrp back onto my phone
cheers!
Is there a way to disable Google search when you hold the Home button and swipe up? It's annoying in some games and programs.

Install this and swipe up. It'll ask what program you want to use; Select this one and you're done. It actually does absolutely nothing, it just replaces the launcher's command.
Hey dudes, I have a nexus 5 and I am currently downloading the factory image of lollipop with the intention of flashing it, but I want to make sure I can root/flash a custom recovery after I do it so I can go back to my current setup via nandroid backup if I so choose. Does anyone know if this is possible yet?
Root requires patched kernel. However twrp can be installed, however if you're just using it in case you need to nandroid, install it when you need it.
I can't find a good Google Apps package for Android Lollipop...and so, I made my own package.
Extracted from Google's Factory Image, and updated a few apps.

So i made the jump to 5.0 on my 2012 Nexus 7. It took more than 20 minutes to boot.
Haven't used Android for a long time. ohgod it looks so different.
If all goes well, devices running 5.0 will be a hell lot smoother
PSA to Nexus 5 users on 5.0: If you want to undervolt, you can almost certainly get down 50mV and still be completely stable. Another 25mV worked fine but to be completely stable I had to underclock one step.

Still waiting for the image for the Mobile Nexus 7 2012. How sluggish is or isn't it on there?
What is the purpose of rooting my G3? What's the most beneficial perks to not very technical people?

if you don't know why, you don't need to
Anyone here using a glass screen protector? I absolutely hate the standard plastic ones because they aren't as smooth(for lack of a better word) as the original glass.
I'm hoping to find one that feels just like the screen without a protector.

You ever tried a matte plastic screen protector?
No, I've only used glossy plastic. Do the matte ones feel better?

I'm using one on my G3 and it's the best. Feels exactly like using the phone without one. No scratches on it yet and it was pretty cheap for what it was. I love it!
This is the one I got if you're wondering:

I'm using one I bought off amazon for like $15
Feels exactly like not having one on at all. Gets greasy like my screen does without a screen protector too...

Isn't underclocking really depending on every manufactured unit? Like on one you could go to -50 but on another you couldn't even get to -40 without crashing?

Did you get the 0.3mm or 0.2mm version?
No, I've only used glossy plastic. Do the matte ones feel better?
Obviously they're not as good as the tempered glass ones, but if you're not looking to spend much the matte ones are really soft and have a completely new feel. If you have a matte PC monitor (as in the non-glossy/shiny ones), it feels like that. I got a pack of 10 for under £2 a few months ago on Amazon.
reading about them makes me want one
think ill grab one soon

Yes that is true and that's why I said "almost certainly". From personal experience and reports from others, -50mV seems to be stable on the majority of N5's. Any more than that is where stability suffers.

I think I'll try a glass one. I don't think I'd like the matte texture.
So I just flashed the 5.0 factory image onto my Nexus 4 using some toolkit I got off of xda, but it didn't delete my apps or storage? Should I be worried?
On 5.0 on Nexus 5 on WiFi the entire time, low-ish screen brightness.

I assume this is pretty good if it's at 40% at the time of the screenshot.

You shouldn't - you've basically did what the OTA update does.
Since I seem to grab my phone a bunch of times in the day time, I decided to make good use of my wireless charger instead of replugging in the cable from time to time.

I got the 0.3mm but I have a case on my phone. It's slightly beveled on the edges.
Okay, my Moto G 2nd Gen XT1068 is rooted and bootloader is unlocked, I am on the default 4.4.4 kitkat rom.
Can I update to lollipop safely?
Where is a good tutorial?
I'm a noob and know nothing.
EDIT: Solved, anyone else interested, look here

It's quite nice. The device starts locking up a bit when you're loading the Play store, but apart from that, it looks promising.
Now I just need to find some good apps.
Nexus 5 on 5.0 still feels like it is getting the same amount of battery life
