ive had my nexus 5 on android L all week and encountered no bugs so far. Am i lucky?
when I flashed it, my 32GB Nexus 5 became a 16GB one. A factory reset was required to get back the other half of my storage.
Well actually the new Moto X is bigger than the LG G2 with the same size screen. I was just trying to convey that we won't be seeing flagship hardware in sub 5.3" screen devices for a couple years most likely. If you're looking for a smaller device, the Moto G(2013)/Nexus 4 are the best hardware you can get around a 4.5" screen still. Unless you're looking for a brand new device with the same damn hardware for 4 times as much (G3 S, S5 mini, One mini 2, ect.). So basically if you want a 805(or faster) device, you're buying a 5.5" device period. This current line of "mini" devices already has fucking 5" screens and still the 400. If we're even lucky we might see the new lineup of 61x hardware on the "mini" devices which will still be VASTLY inferior to flagships of 2013 in 2015/2016. I honestly see reviewers getting pretty sour over the size of devices, the iPhone line up will most likely see a lot of praise soon as it offers the only high end phone with a manageable screen.
Have you not heard of Xperia Z3 Compact?
Have you not heard of Xperia Z3 Compact?
Funny thing, if you're a verifiable student you can get 10% off certain Sony products, Z3/Z3c included, and if you are also a new customer, you can sign up for a Sony card or whatever it is, you can get $100 off. Z3C starts off at $529.99, 10% brings it down to $479.99, then $100 off, you can get it for $379.99 before tax. A nexus 5 costs $399.99 from the play store. In a way you can get a 2014/15 flagship spec device, that is also sub 5", for around the same price as a Nexus 5. The Z3c and discounts are really overlooked. [sp]Hell you can get a Xperia Z Ultra 6.4" of phone for $250 after all the discount. [/sp]
The Z3c is probably the best, not that massive, high end phone out there right now that isn't from some no-name brand company
Have you not heard of Xperia Z3 Compact?
I have heard of it but I just figured it was another 400 or 600 device. That's incredible that there's actually a moderately sized device with flagship hardware. Sony might have a big edge come next year with a Z4 compact. I would only assume the S6, M9 and G4 will be right in line with the N6 pushing past 5.5". I'll be looking into a Z4 compact if they both have a 810 and the trend continues if I'm looking for a new device. [editline]21st November 2014[/editline] The only downside I see with the Z3c is the 720p screen, hopefully the next ones have a 1080p.
I think the 720p display is fine in terms of resolution.
we should finally get running on proper Kitkat files which should end the screens burning up.
Wait is that the reason my screen had a yellow spot from burning (overheating phone)? I might consider switching back to stock rom (no modifications at all), though CloudyG3 hasn't been running very hot for me.
Who needs a oneplus invite. Fling me a PM asap
I just got a oneplus one invite too but already have an opo. Who needs an invite?
of course everyone has invites after i bought my phone
of course everyone has invites after i bought my phone
That timing
of course everyone has invites after i bought my phone
It'll suddenly go on some massive sale next week, it always happens to me I always manage to buy graphics cards a month before the next generation is announced, or we buy a new TV right before the prices go through the floor
I got fed up of with the wait and just flashed Android L onto my Nexus 4 a few nights ago (had it been pushed out to the UK owners by that point? Because my phone was all "lolnope"). Man, Material is so much nicer in the flesh, it looks good and works really well considering the phone isn't the hottest new shit on the market. Though I've managed to pin the "Invert Colours" option to my quick settings and I can't work out how to remove it. I didn't even want it pinned there :(
is it possible to restore SMS/MMS/call logs, etc, via titanium backup from 4.4.4 to 5.0? I've tried twice now on my G3, but both times I had rebooted after restoring, I'd get a pop up telling me that the phone process had crashed, then it'd reboot and get stuck in this cycle. it works well up until this point so it has to be the restore process, right?

Speaking of quick toggles in Android 5.0, how do I re-enable the flashlight one?
it may be possible that you also backed up system settings that are incompatible from 4.4.4. to 5.0, or the formatting of whatever your restoring may be different in 5.0
sounds about right, I tried a third time now with only SMS/MMS in mind and it worked fine! must be something else I was trying to restore that it didn't like, maybe the call logs, no idea. loving 5.0 so far, feels very nice to use. hopefully xposed will make its way to art some time
Speaking of quick toggles in Android 5.0, how do I re-enable the flashlight one?
How did you disable it? It's a default one no?

I'll just leave it alone then. Kinda weird there's no real way to manage it manually but whatever.
How did you disable it? loving my new ballistic glass screen protector. shit makes it look like my phone is naked. tight
-snip-
Ordered a screen protector from Amazon, open it up, wait a minute, they sent me a Nexus 5 case + screen protector. I look at the back of the box, they slapped a XPERIA Z3 SCREEN PROTECTOR label and didn't notice the nexus 5 picture on the front. Amazon refunded me the cost of the item. This is something I would expect from ebay not amazon.
I think the 720p display is fine in terms of resolution.
While 720p is "fine", I can notice a decent difference between my G2, S4 and a G3 and a Nexus 4. 1080p screens went fairly standard and was already passed with UHD now. Maybe it's just the quality of the screens but smaller screens can always improve, 720p is more forgivable as in the Z3c's case being a 4.6" screen but the G3s, S5 mini and One M8 mini are all 5" 720p.
Wait is that the reason my screen had a yellow spot from burning (overheating phone)? I might consider switching back to stock rom (no modifications at all), though CloudyG3 hasn't been running very hot for me.
Actually, my phone has a very slight red and blue splotch from the digitizer being set too tight. I can only notice it on a perfectly black screen like the boot screen though. There's an issue with the G2 where it will burn out columns of pixels(black lines) on the right of the screen where the screen connector is. There's a million theories to what in specific causes this which has been proven to happen in a absolutely bone stock phone but Houstonn's PA rom began to bring out the flaw in the phone and maybe a few hundred phones tops. People believed to track it down to some certain commits which were made and a ton of misinformation was spread among this. It most commonly happens when flashing in TWRP or randomly on a reboot, the only specific event it can really be tracked to is booting/rebooting. There was also another theory that it had something to do with damage caused by voltage changes and or related to heat. Houstonn and some other developers seem to have looked pretty deep into it and believe that using the old JB boot files and other hacky methods make it far more likely to happen which seems plausible as well as less hacky is always better. People have tried to cook their phones trying to recreate it and couldn't. All of the stories often include the victim's device getting quite hot and a big sob story usually. If it's gonna happen, it's gonna happen. It's just a flaw in our device sadly. An entire brand new front casing with screen is $100, I don't use a screen protector partially because of this and I enjoy my phone much more without it. LG is also quite reasonable with screen replacements probably around $150 said and done from LG now too.
No. You're mixing up phone screen resolutions with the current 1440p displays. UHD means ultra high definition which means 4K screens. Unless there is a phone display with a resolution of 3840 pixels wide by 2160 pixels tall, it is not a UHD display. So far, there are no actual UHD phones. Rumors say in 2015, UHD phones will come out. That is just speculation.
Thinking about picking up a smart watch soon. Does the moto 360 still have awful battery life? Does anyone here have a g watch r?
I reckon devices should focus on 1080p displays for now since it is already sufficient. Instead they should aim towards significant performance/battery life increases would be much nicer over 1440p+

I meant to say QHD, sorry.
