I guess Microsoft has given up on the Windows phone.

Is there anyway to not automatically join a saved wifi network? The network at my work has _way_ too much broadcast traffic.

To connect to a different saved wifi network? Or to not connect to WiFi at all?

I'd like to keep the password saved, but not automatically join it.

Don't turn on wifi when you're there.
Don't turn on wifi when you're there.
That's what I do now. I have tasker turning off wifi from 8-5, but I'm only at the office maybe 2/3 of the time and the rest of the time I'm very likely to not have cell coverage.
Then what's wrong with connecting to the work wifi besides it being slow?
If you usually use LTE, try selecting 3G. It might have better reception with 3G than LTE.
All the broadcast traffic kills my battery. On a quiet network my battery drains about 2.5%/hour, but on this network it drains 4-5%/hour.
As for cell coverage... rich people build houses in weird places. I either have perfect LTE coverage or absolutely zero on any band, any carrier.

Is the work wifi slow? It may be possible that because the connection is so slow, it's taking longer to do things, or low wifi signal and it's making the wifi radio use more battery. Or maybe due to your workplace, your phones gps is trying to get your location but can't/has trouble doing it, hence using more battery. Or shitty reception inside work place causing the battery drain?
You're also at your workplace, you could just charge the phone.

I'm pretty sure it's the broadcast traffic, but I'm not too worried about it. My phone easily lasts a whole day even with weird networks.
Not automatically joining a network was just a "it would be nice if" thought I had.
Because sprint is fucking garbage, I have to choose between awful(1-2 bars) 4g service most of the time or great(half to full bars) 3g all the time. The 4g is so unreliable I just force 3g most of the time.
I have eduroam and I have no idea how to get onto it. Its probably throttled to hell anyway.
I'll stick to the schools other network that gets like 90 Mb/s.
eduroam isn't throttled to shit and my university gets about 180Mbps down when most kids leave for the break
eduroam isn't throttled to shit and my university gets about 180Mbps down when most kids leave for the break
After excessive use, ours is throttled for a period of time, if that happens, I switch to the unprotected 'guest-wireless'
I'm from the US, what exactly is eduroam?
Sometimes fucking 3G is faster than my Wifi at home. When I go to bed I often switch to 3G because Wifi has to travel to other end of house which is annoying as shit.
P.S - before you ask: my PC is connected to router with 50 metre cable which also fucking sucks.
Thank god ireland has decent 3G Coverage.

[del]Anyway to stream music from a personal cloud or something?
Like uploading my own music somewhere and then streaming it to my phone.[/del]
Bout 10 more fucking seconds of looking and I wouldn't have had to ask this question
I guess new question, is there anyway to do this that wont count against my T-Mobile 4G data cap?
It has to be on tmobiles approved list of services iirc

Then just turn off wifi. Or just stay connected. If you really want to disconnect or connect to it, it's a wifi switch away.

Yea I found that, does anyone know if any of those programs do what I'm asking? Like to avoid searching up every program on the list to see what they do
Eduroam if set up properly should literally be your school network... It's not eduroam setting up a network at your school, it's your school setting up your network and then partnering with eduroam to allow access to every other participating eduroam network around the world.
In the Netherlands it's also set up using SURF since basically all colleges and universities are identity providers on SURF's interconnection network.

Eduroam is also a thing in America. Check the map:

I kinda think 1-2 bars of LTE is normal considering it has shitty wall penetration, SMS can go through it and even if you have 1 bar, you can still get 30Mbps down from it. 3G however seems to always be slow but is full bars practically everywhere I go and the calls go through 3G, so no VoLTE in Canada yet anyways.
I never quite understood all the hate towards touchwiz until I got a modern phone with something else. (Since Motorola's pre-Google was honestly shit)
I never really extensively used TouchWiz or Moto Blur or anything else except for stock Android, Sony Xperia's 4.0 ROMs and some CM11s which is practically stock.

I almost always have connectivity issues on 4g, 3g works fine. I just switched on 4g and I've got no bars

you can upload up to like 20,000 songs to google music for free.

Plus I'm pretty sure T-Mobile makes it not count against your data allowance.
I'm having trouble deciding if when an exploit is out for 4.4.4 on the Verizon M8, if I should s-off and root, or just OTA to 5.0 whenever that comes out.

Why not get a cheap 5-port switch, maybe try to dig up an old router or something, and have that one broadcasting from your bedroom.
I have a similar setup here with my own computer, server and this router. I found it earlier this month, and decided to set it up as my room is on the far corner of the house, and the main router is on the opposite.
