Got my OnePlus One today, need to wait for a new SIM card though.
It's my first Android device, old phone being a Nokia using Symbian OS so I don't know much. Looking for recommendations on good software or other things I should do.
Install all the apps.
It won't change. It's the nature of the Google app ecosystem which is fairly open that allows for this. Google isn't likely to change this, all they will do is suggest to developers and make it easier for developers to adopt their design guidelines.
if they started enforcing guidelines we might not have the best snake app ever so what's the point
There's been a bug in the kernel for the Galaxy S2 that caused corruption in floating point operations, since basically forever.
Custom ROMs have been just disabling that stuff to prevent crashes, but it lowers performance.
Someone figured out what the problem was, and the fixes were merged into Cyanogenmod's tree yesterday.
Apparently Mozilla's developers were chasing the bug at one point when trying to get FirefoxOS running on the device. That's a bit funny, and a bit sad.
Oh well, at least that's sorted. Stuff will roll out on the night CM nightly, and custom kernels and ROMs will probably merge the changes in within the next few days, weeks or months.

Godammit now I'll never get anything done ever again.

If you don't like something, you can change it to your liking. There's a bunch of apps to replace stuff like the dialer, SMS app, web browser, etc. Or if you don't like the ROM, you can unlock the bootloader and root (which BTW wipes your entire phone so you could do it now if you don't have much set up).
Still waiting for Lollipop for my Verizon One M8. Come on HTC :(
The official CM12 build from 1/7 is running great on my Nexus 6 (Sprint)

What sort of non-stock features does it have?
What sort of non-stock features does it have?
Little tweaks so far. Weather on the full pull down menu, battery percentage in the status bar... I imagine more will come like always
I'm going to install CM12 on my phone then now.
I have a question, I've been looking at the Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet and planning on getting it, but i read there is some compatibility issues with atom processor and some apps. Is this true?
What's the advantages of getting a ARM powered tablet over an atom one.

if credible sources say it's true, it probably is.
Seems there's no longer an easy way to s-off my HTC One M8.
To do so, I would need to install a "non-debuggable kernel".
Anyone have insight on this?

So I got my OPO in the mail today, and after fiddling with it a bit I decided to unlock the bootloader and root it. But I've been having problems finding it in fastboot, and after looking around and trying different drivers I still haven't gotten it to work. Can anyone here show me the glorious way to driverts that work in fastboot?
Nevermind, I fixed it using the handy-dandy guide in this tool.
Got a couple of Oneplus invites to share

why do people shorten it to OPO instead of 1+1
Because the letter "o" is next to the letter "p" on a keyboard. "1" and "+" not really.
why do people shorten it to OPO instead of 1+1
Because they want to get it confused with any phone made by OPPO.
Because laziness, typing "OPO" is easier than typing "1+1", even if you use a number pad. Although I usually refer the phone as the 1+1.

I only figured out that they were two different companies like, two days ago.
10/10 marketing job right there.

The Oppo Find whatever and the OPO do look pretty similar

if you really wanted to type less, you could just do the math and call it the 2
if you really wanted to type less, you could just do the math and call it the 2
but most people would not know what the 2 is!
The Oppo Find whatever and the OPO do look pretty similar
They're made in the same factory iirc
Has anyone got the Android L update OTA on Moto G yet? No sign yet on my Moto G 4G.
Also my brother has a Nexus 5, no sign of Android L yet either.
but most people would not know what the 2 is!

teach them
