I'm sure this is asked all the time, but what's the best Android phone on the market offered by AT&T in the States? I have a shitty iPhone 4 refurb w/ jailbreak and it sucks (even without jailbreak). I'm elligible for an upgrade and down to pay for whatever's out there. Top 3 list please? I'd like it to be fast and functional, some reviews I read were talking about how they weren't good for gaming, but I hardly play games on my phone. Also, who partakes in "gaming" on a phone anyways.
Galaxy S4, One, or Optimus G Pro. Pick the one that fits you.
Actually, despite the extra 300mAh on the S4, it doesn't always get the best battery life for me. The AMOLED screen does suck up a decent chunk of battery. Then again, most of my apps are set to their light themes because I'd barely be able to see the dark in sunlight. YMMV.
I'm basing that off of this. http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-galaxy-s4-battery-tests-are-done-heres-how-it-did/
You lost me at Oppo Find 5 being basically the iPhone. A better comparison would be the One IMO since it has similar build quality, looks, and is around the same size as the Find anyway. I see his point about Androids being bigger than the iPhone - a lot of good Androids are massive. There is still no competition to the iPhone's size in the Android world. But yeah, his point is kind of retarded. "I don't need all that power in my pocket." I'd understand if he's going for a minimalist approach where he doesn't want his phone to be able to do everything, but come on.
I guess I meant more the Finder and the iPhone 4. The Find 5 is different, but Oppo got its start making offbrand iPhones, is my point.

Does "h" stand for hours? Because, if it does, how are the tests almost the same? [editline]4th June 2013[/editline] because I am angry at people.
Does "h" stand for hours? Because, if it does, how are the tests almost the same? [editline]4th June 2013[/editline] because I am angry at people.
its standby isn't as good as the s4
Could it be that the screen takes more to push it on the s4?
Yeah. You can see that the One has a full hour over the S4 when it comes to web browsing - what I do most on my phones. But I do get decent idle time with my One as well, so again, YMMV.

If you could stand that, that is.
Does anyone not charge their mobile phone nightly anymore?
It's important for me if I'm going to be using my phone a lot; I get emails a lot and need to check them, and I often use my phone as a 4g hotspot.
[t]http://cdn.gsmarena.com/pics/13/03/htc-one-battery-test/gsmarena_002.jpg[/t][t]http://cdn.gsmarena.com/pics/13/03/galaxy-s4-battery-test/gsmarena_003.jpg[/t] [editline]5th June 2013[/editline] sdwise why
Stop posting GSMArena's battery tests because they literally just made up the One's standby times. It's equivalent to the S4, and the S4's web browser doesn't keep constant 200 nit brightness, which means that the web browsing figures are bullshit too.
It's important for me if I'm going to be using my phone a lot; I get emails a lot and need to check them, and I often use my phone as a 4g hotspot.
I understand that, however I thought the issue between the two phones was idle time rather than usage time.
Idle time is bullshit. The GS4 is going to do better in screen-off scenarios. In screen-on scenarios it will do worse. Otherwise it is a wash. People need to get the fuck over the fact that AMOLED is not as efficient as IPS LCD tech. If you want to make the GS4 do its best for battery life, you need to manually start theming applications to use as much black as possible.

Gotta say though, I love the way colours pop on the S4. Especially with the Play Store's new colour coded look for its stores.

That little thing owned, I'm still annoyed that I broke it. I'm still waiting to see if a 2nd generation one will come out this summer.

No matter whether it's black or white, Holo is the one true Light ™
Does anyone not charge their mobile phone nightly anymore?
I charge my Gnex and Nexus 7 every night. It's a shame that battery tech isn't that great, I miss not having to charge a phone for several days.
i dont think anyone here was insinuating otherwise why are you preaching to the choir
I spend way too much time in places where people believe AMOLED is some perfect technology. Drives me nuts.

If you truly miss the old days, go get a Nokia 3310 or something.

If you think that having a phone that can barely last a day is fine then you're truly ignorant to the problem at hand. Many companies know this is a problem and are working toward making more power efficient devices and better batteries.
Many companies know this is a problem and are working toward making more power efficient devices and better batteries.
Yet they still don't realize the cheapest, easiest solution Make the phone thicker and shove a bigger battery in it "Your phone's 3mm thinner than mine? That's cool, I can get a week of standby"

CPUs are already incredibly fast
