Hmm, weird. I plugged my Samsung earphones into my sound card. It sounds really echoey and distant, unless I hold the button on the headset, then it works perfectly.
EDIT:
oh, I pulled the plug out a tiny bit and it works now?? probably something to do with the third ring
It's the third ring, there's no real standard for what order the pins should be in, so a bunch of phone manufacturers like to abuse this by rearranging their pins to screw over people using 3rd party headphones
I flashed RC5 earlier, and still the same bug. I also tried all 3 currently available nightlies.
Is there an easy way to downgrade to CM10?
have you tried backing up your apps and doing a factory reset to see if it fixes the problem?
Alternatively, flashing the stock android image?
Because it's starting to sound like a (strange) HW defect.

Yeah I get that on all of my headphones when I connect to my school's computers, I never knew pulling it out would fix it though.
Kind of strange, if you play a song with vocals, it pretty much retains all of the instrumental portions, and then kills all the voices, depending on the song

Yeah, I'm not an electrical expert but I think that's because the left and right channel are cancelling each other out somehow, and the voice part is usually in both the left and right channels. People use this technique to create cheap instrumental backing tracks but you can tell they sound like crap.
RC5 is available for some days already, try that. Past RC's were more buggy than nightlies (which is ironical, since most people try to convince you it's the other way around).
In my experience, the nightlies are the most stable builds of them all. I remember CM10 stable having a few problems that were fixed a week later in the nightlies.

You'll need a TRRS adaptor that switches them around to be able to use it on different devices. I bought some Sony earphones a while back and they come with one.

Well, I don't have one, and it turns out I don't need the adapter if I pull out the plug a bit, although now that you mention it, the channels are reversed. So I just put the earphones in the opposite ears. This will probably short something out eventually though.
edit: I seem to be getting more bass on the right channel (left earphone) though.

Oh cool. My phone just completely disappeared from the web Play Store.
I mean it's completely gone, not hidden. There's supposed to be an SGH-I747m here.

You can't even delete old phones, so how did it disappear?

PRISM
Anyone know of any Android tablets with keyboard docks that aren't absolute shit? I like the Transformer Pad but the keys are so cramped it's not worth it. Not sure if the Slatebook X2 will be any good in that area.
It's a shame really - the Surface RT is an absolutely amazing piece of hardware, probably the nicest tablet I've ever seen, with a great keyboard (well, the Type Cover anyway) to match. The software's just awful.
I kind of wish Microsoft had gone with an Android hijack for the Surface, like Amazon did. They could have still pushed their services and Office, but they'd have all of Android's software library to back it up app-wise.
Oh, it disappeared because I cleared Google Services Framework

Poweramp bought, I believe they deserve that money.
It is the best Music app for a variety of reasons, but mostly because they did not fuck up on multiple album arts in one album.
Every other Music app has messed that up.
I would buy it, but I exclusively use streaming services for music because I'm neither an audiophile or particularly far from a wireless network.
That said, Google Music All Access has a fair share of problems. Skipping, songs abruptly ending. At least they didn't rip anything from a floppy or 84kbps MP3.
Alright, so!
I got my new extended battery. It's great. But I'm still getting HUGE drain with Android OS: there's 4h of background CPU time so far, which is kind of nuts.
here's a diagnosis screenshot.

Any idea what it could be? I think it's a kworker thing or system_server

One thing to note is that G+ is at the top even though I didn't open it in ages

You have all the social media and location service bullshit running at all times. Either then them off or turn off your wifi/mobile data/gps and watch your battery life skyrocket
Maxthon Browser is great but it drains battery like diarrhea.
So if I want to preserve text messages and shit so I have them after I install a new ROM, what's the best backup program for this? TitaniumBackup still reigns king?

Concerning the reduction of power usage, isn't Trebuchet Cyanogenmod's launcher? Because it looks like it's running along with Nova (teslacoilsw.launcher), that's two launchers at once. No idea if you can disable the default launcher though.

Google Music's file management is really bad imo, if you update an album or whatever you end up having the old version online and you can't upload the new one. If you do, it mixes up with the old one. Not to mention reinstalling your OS, which results in Google Music asking you to upload your library again because it detects it as new files... It needs some kind of file/tag checking system (I think iTunes plus already does that).

Thus why I just use it for the streaming. Halfway tempted to go back to Spotify though, unless there's a better alternative with a standalone desktop app (doesn't hiccup when Chrome inevitably freezes)

What's wrong with spotify? :S
Nothing, I just went with Google Music All Access to save a few bucks a month.

How much cheaper is it? If it comes to Norway I might consider changing to it.
It's $2 cheaper if you register before June 30th I think
Oh for fucks sake, I dropped my phone in the bathroom, while it has a protective case, and the screen has broken
[editline]11th June 2013[/editline]
All of the cheap phones I have last till the end of time, but as soon as I get my hands on an expensive galaxy S3 I've totaled it within 6 months, I'm an idiot
Well crap. I think I soft-bricked my Nexus 7.
I'm stuck with the Google logo. Before that I was stuck at booting animation. Is there any way to insert a rom on my Nexus with Team Win Recovery? (I should've installed CWM Recovery...)
EDIT: Oh fuck. If Nexus Root Toolkit won't work I'm screwed :v:
Looks like I'll be buying the whole front half of the S3 as soon as I get the money
[editline]11th June 2013[/editline]
And then wrapping my entire body and phone in bubble wrap and only travelling at a slow walking speed
I've had my S3 for 9 months now, and the only damage done to it is a small crack near on the menu button. Can only see it in the right light, and as its not on the screen it aint bad.
