Helium was pretty damn fast at backing up the same 9 apps I ticked under Titanium, too.
Hm, interesting. So will titanium back ups be compatible with Helium? I'd like to be able to get the data from those back ups and get them working with Helium.
Okay, then I would suggest the latest version of CM10.1 by dastin1015 and johnnyslt. They just fixed some important stuff yesterday actually. I'm currently on the newest MIUI and it kicks ass so far
Finally got a new phone. I haven't used Android for a while, what are the good OSses and launchers these days? [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] It's a Sony Xperia S btw.

Paranoid Android, CyanogenMod, and AOKP are all popular, but I'm not sure if those are available for your phone
Apex Launcher, not sure about ROM for that phone [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] ah crap, new page. Still, suggestion stands

I've tried holding the volume up button while connecting to USB, but when the LED turns blue and I type fastboot devices in cmd, it shows nothing. Then, when I release the volume button, it just boots normally. I think I've installed the latest fastboot drivers (from here)
What the fuck is going on? Random music titles just started appearing in my library, they are all exactly 4 mins long, I can't find 'em when searching my phone with windows search and googling the titles turns up with nothing. It's fucking annoying because there are about 70 of those there and they are cluttering up my list. What the fuck does it mean?
Install a file manager (enable hidden files) and find out

maybe it's advertising audio or something
You can't actually listen to these, neither apollo nor winamp will open them. Also, I used root explorer to search and found nothing, so yeah.
After being a pussy too scared to root my phone I finally did it and have stock Android, feels so nice after six months of TouchWiz!
After being a pussy too scared to root my phone I finally did it and have stock Android, feels so nice after six months of TouchWiz!
I rooted too, although I was unable to unlock the bootloader to install custom ROMs, I was able to delete bloatware and made stuff faster and better.
I like my new ROM. Touch wiz base, holo UI elements. Best of both worlds.

Why can't you just use titanium backup?
Anyone?
Don't think so, titanium uses .properties and .gz, which helium uses .ap and .json files. Just restore with titanium and then use helium to backup. I personally use carbon to backup my apps settings and game saves, and titanium to fully backup when I'm upgrading firmware.
Are you sure? Skylink seems to use 1X and EV-DO, which are forms of CDMA. [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] Yeah, you need to do an "SL2 unlock". Apparently this tool can do it for free, but I haven't tested it.
How do I use this? by the looks of it I need to buy some hardware
I'm getting the Poetic Flipbook case for my HTC One, as I would like some all-around protection that is easily removable and not tacky like the Otterbox. I'm wondering if anyone thinks I should get a screen protector for it or if you think that the case is enough since it covers the front of the phone as well. I usually keep my phone in my front pocket. http://amzn.to/14xxAjz
Always get a screen protector, especially since dust and stuff will get caught between the cover and the glass eventually and drag across the screen.

I'm actually really curious. It looks like it might be random bytes interpreted as ASCII... but it looks a lot too patterned. But maybe the database got corrupted in exactly the right way. If you're good with root, do this: go to /data/data/com.android.providers.media/databases, and copy the "external.db" and "internal.db" files and upload them somewhere

Apparently, after some cat plays with my cellphone a bit and a battery change, my cellphone screen works fine again. This is weird.
Why can't you just use titanium backup?
well some have recommended helium, I like the new layout and I want everything to work. I could just use both.
I have a friend that needs to access flash content on a browser from her tablet, any suggestions? I looked around but many results seem fruitless as they require to sideload Flash and she's not capable of doing that. So is there any browser capable of browsing flash content without having to do all of that?
How isn't she capable? All you have to do is download the apk and run it. There are tools on the market that'll also sideload it for you.
How isn't she capable? All you have to do is download the apk and run it. I'd much rather have a solution that she can just install and immediately get to browsing. I found this Puffin web flash web browser, is that any good?
So I have, as you wonderful people pointed out to me as likely to happen first time I posted here, finally given up on QWERTY keyboard phones. Mostly after I realised that I was willing to spend $2500 (if I could get any phone in the world, obviously I can't actually afford that) for this: [IMG_thumb]http://www.itinfoforum.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/BLACKBERRY-PORCHE-DESIGN-P9981.jpg[/IMG_thumb] Just because it has a QWERTY keyboard and I like the design. Guess what $2500 gets you? A wonderful 1.2GHz processor and a beautiful 2.8 inch screen with a (clearly excessive) 768Mb of RAM! (/definitely sarcasm). And I would have bought that if I had the money, just because of the keyboard. So, I have abandoned my QWERTY keyboard ways. Is the HTC One a good decision? And is $70 a month a good deal (plan included, Australia)?
