Android Thread - The only phones with patented Kernel Panic™ technology!

The HTC One is great and $70 dollars sounds great for someone who lives in the USA, but I don't know what that is relative to other Australian prices.
So I have, as you wonderful people pointed out to me as likely to happen first time I posted here, finally given up on QWERTY keyboard phones. Mostly after I realised that I was willing to spend $2500 (if I could get any phone in the world, obviously I can't actually afford that) for this:
[IMG_thumb]http://www.itinfoforum.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/BLACKBERRY-PORCHE-DESIGN-P9981.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
Just because it has a QWERTY keyboard and I like the design. Guess what $2500 gets you? A wonderful 1.2GHz processor and a beautiful 2.8 inch screen with a (clearly excessive) 768Mb of RAM! (/definitely sarcasm). And I would have bought that if I had the money, just because of the keyboard.
So, I have abandoned my QWERTY keyboard ways. Is the HTC One a good decision? And is $70 a month a good deal (plan included, Australia)?
There people selling those phones for 700-900 in my area. It's more of a luxury then performance phone cause its designed by porsche.

If you're good with root, do this:
go to /data/data/com.android.providers.media/databases, and copy the "external.db" and "internal.db" files and upload them somewhere
What is actually in those files?
I mean, it's probably not personal data and shit but I would like to know before giving out random things from my phone on the internet.
[editline]13th June 2013[/editline]
Woah what?
I just opened external.db on my phone and apparently its getting those songs from a webserver?

Why the shit?
Some sort of weird Eastern European techno music adware
Soooo, will antivirus scanners for android work or should I just flat out reflash a new ROM?
[editline]13th June 2013[/editline]
I've been thinking about trying out that MIUI ROM thingy so eh.

Glorious. Absolutely glorious. "di", "de", "van". Must be randomly generated using European syllables.
Let me try one:
http://bogus/Doremi/Faso Latido_11
EDIT: Yeah Avast might work, but flashing MIUI is obviously a better option
ok so my sgs2 has started moaning about 'insufficient space' every time I try to install an app even though I have plenty
what could it be?
Those weird songs looks more like an app gone wrong.
If that was malware, they'd be pulling contacts and other information, and sending that to a server, without you even noticing.
But bloody http://bogus/? Placeholder code that someone somehow included into the final build.

So yeah, brb installing MIUI.
I'm confused now. The buggy call volume for some reason started to happen in MIUI too (even though I wiped everything before flashing, even the microsd card).
Basically if you accept someone's call the volume's on maximum no matter what volume rocker tells (and does). For it to go away I have to enable loudspeaker, then disable it again. This is annoying, any ideas how to fix it?

Did you flash a new kernel? It's probably a kernel issue. (kernel lives in /boot partition)
well if you mean android version, then both my current and previous roms were on jellybean
which isn't natively on evo 3d

No, I mean kernel. You should probably go read a flashing guide if you don't know what that is (no offence). I'm guessing you have an old custom kernel. The latest kernel (boot partition) from Dastin1015 and johnnyslt's ROM is pretty bug-free so you should flash that (I'm not sure if MIUI comes with a kernel)
Yeah I'm not good with the whole flashing thing
Mind giving me any links ?

I think with the Evo 3D, since it's an HTC phone, you have to extract the zip file and use fastboot to flash the boot.img file (this must be done even if you've already flashed a zip directly).
EDIT
Follow this guide:

(it says One S but this applies to most HTC phones)

What on earth.
I bought Sliding Messaging Pro. Got charged twice + one extra NOK (App costs 6 NOK, I got chraged 6 NOK + 7 NOK).
Got an error installing it, and now I don't own it anymore.....
[editline]13th June 2013[/editline]
Apparently it was canceled, but I still got charged 13 NOK.

Now this is just getting weirder and weirder. Someone please explain what's happening :<

Contact Google Support, they'll fix it.
Anyways I've been getting double sms.
I look at the first one and it says sent and received on the same time.
I look at the second one and it says the same sent time as the first one but received is a few minutes later.
What is going on here?
You're sure it's your end? Like it's happening with everyone that sends you a message?
I'm pretty sure it's happening just to me, but only occasionally. Although it is pretty annoying.
It shows up on many sms apps too.

You're with Rogers, right? It's probably their fault.

Eh if i read correctly both CM and MIUI have their own kernels
and I wiped every partition before installing both of them
so I have no idea why that happens

Did you install the kernel through fastboot like I said? You must do that on an HTC phone with S-ON. (Use the one from the MIUI zip if you want)
Contact Google Support, they'll fix it.
I can't find the problem in support.google.com, neither can I find someone to get help from.
Can you link me to either? Thanks.

Just submit a problem somewhere, it doesn't matter. As long as it's for Google Play it's all good.
Go through the options and there should be an email button at the bottom of the smaller window.
Go here https://support.google.com/googleplay/ and select Contact Us on the upper right of the screen then go through the options and you'll get to the end where the email button is.

Funny enough. That button appeared when I changed form NO, to US(Canada)
You're with Rogers, right? It's probably their fault.
Hm, I'll contact Rogers Support soon.
Although when I go to my contacts app and I select a contact, I can see the sms sent and recieved. Well some of the SMS sent and recieved don't even show up (I blame the app) but show up on my SMS app. Also those double sms only show up on sms apps, not the contacts app.
edit: nevermind when someone sends me an sms like just now, the sms updates for that contact and I can see the double sms on the contacts app.
Well, look at that:

I guess I'll buy the app again then :v:

Contact support anyways, so they can maybe find out what happen and fix it.
I'm about to order the Rhino Shield screen protector for my N4.
Good choice y/n
I don't use screen protectors at all (even the cheap anti scratch ones), because I've never dropped my phone and I've been using it since march 2012
