that site confuses me, there's this article with nice useful stuff but the related articles at the bottom are just... um... yeah [img_thumb]http://gyazo.com/f1a8439bd3b13963919c84c6f514421c.png[/img_thumb] google's secrets are well hidden
It's not meant to be a secret. It's not even the fully release chrome. It's the Canary build. It's usually one full version ahead of the Dev channel. (ex. dev is currently on Chrome 10, Canary is 11) It's not even fully stable. As soon as they get a version that doesn't crash all the time, they put it in there. You aren't able to set it as your default browser, because it's meant for testing purposes only. I do prefer to use it to my standard chrome though, mostly because my normal chrome is bogged down with extensions.
Why haven't y'all changed what the capslock key does? There's even a nifty little tool for it floating around out there.
Because caps is actually useful button
Because caps is actually useful button
this was directed at those saying they didn't need capslock.
What idiot at Asus designed my motherboard, seriously. I use a 8800GTS as a physx slave and have had to move it down to the bottom slot (x8/x8 for some stupid reason, but that doesn't matter as it's only doing physx...) but all the useful front panel shit was in the way, so I had to unplug it all... not really? I assume by "bus wire" you mean IDE header in which case no there isn't really any better place to put it the only problem I see with the design of that mobo is the SATA ports aren't right angled which isn't necessary anyway because no card will hang over them, unless there's a ridiculously long PCI card I'm unaware of hell they even stuck the front audio headers at the bottom rather than next to the back panel at least they're not still sticking the 4/8pin CPU power next to the back panel audio connections
I personally think it would be better beside the ram slots. the ide header wire has to be in a awkward position to make room for 2 sata ports and the graphics card. The wire is to wide. or pointing off to the side. so the wire can be hidden in the back.
On the topic of asshole design moves, I'll mention one that is mostly just a minor annoyance really. The CAPS-lock key, I have never understood WHY this button needs to exist. The need for me to write in all caps have been extremely rare, and in the occasion that I needed to do so I even more rarely ever needed to write more than one or two sentences. Holding down the shift key to do all caps is really all you need. I also hate when I accidentally press this button and end up writing long eye-gauging texts in full caps, or when a multiplayer game uses this button for some feature and I then accidentally end up talking in full caps with my friends because I forgot I had caps on. It should perhaps be a feature of writing programs as certain written things are sometimes but rarely in full caps, perhaps it could be enabled the same way you enable bold or cursive writing. However I have never seen any normal conversation where the CAPS-lock was a necessity rather than a tool for trolls and idiots. Wasn't this button going to be removed soon though from newer computers, or was that just on a particular brand of computers?
You don't look at your screen when you type? If caps lock is accidentally on, I usually catch it after the first couple of letters.

HP's new laptop keyboard layout. I'll put up my own picture when I get home, but take a look at the keys down the left side where I want to hit buttons like Ctrl instead of opening a calculator, or open console instead of my email, and other things like that. I don't have time right now to read through the entire thread to see if this has been posted already, but I don't really care because this layout pisses me off. Another thing I don't like (that has probably been mentioned as well) is Apple's new track pad on their laptops. When I tried it out, it wouldn't click when I wanted it to, but it would click just from the weight of my finger on it, at very inopportune moments. You would think it would click when I tap down on it if the resting weight of my finger alone is enough to start clicking everything in sight. Also, plastic in general. It just breaks, then you have to go buy a new whatever it was.

The screen lock feature on the LG envTouch. You can unlock the phone by waking it up and sliding the screen lock open, or by pressing the lock button twice, allowing the phone to become active in your pocket regardless.
I fucking hate how you can't cancel your Xbox Live auto-renew bullshit online, you have to call and deal with a guy with a thick russian accent :argh: My CC was about to expire and I didn't feel like calling their shitty french support so I just left it like that. Now today, I noticed something on my account : I'm still a gold member. What the fuck :byodood: They charged my expired credit card twice now, I don't know what bad things it could do but if I try to delete the card on the Xbox website it says I have a negative balance :ohdear:

My mom has the same phone as me, and even once it still unlocked and she buttdialed someone.

Not only is saying "plastic in general" wrong, but saying "it just breaks" is even worse. "Plastic" is such a general term for the list of polymers you can make that ALL HAVE DIFFERENT PROPERTIES. Depending on how you create the polymer you can change the physical characteristics. So you can make a plastic that bends and flexes with ease, or you can make a plastic that you could smash with a hammer and break the handle of the hammer before the plastic loses its structural integrity.
You have two "?" keys... why?
I think one opens the "help" menu and the other is an actual "?".
Obviously someone just installed the ¿ key wrong.
To ask questions like this??

You see that? Yes, the capacitors leaking. THIS has to be one of the biggest asshole design moves on the history of the fucking planet. Right around 1999, everyone suddenly started to see that china was selling capacitors for a few cents less per unit compared to whatever supplier they currently had who sold them for a bit more (companies like Nippon Chemicon, Nichicon, or Rubycon). It was decided that a saving could be made by replacing their past reputable supplier with these new chinese suppliers (who had names like OST, Jamicon, Fujjiyu, and Elna) as you could in theory rack up a few hundred thousand dollars in savings by cutting five cents off the per unit price for the capacitors you were buying. And everyone did it. ASUS, Aopen, and PCChips are three good examples. Then about six months after everyone switched, the most shady of brands began to start leaking. The symptoms became well known across forums EVERYWHERE: System not POSTing, bluescreens, crashing, and the system being complately unreliable. In some instances the computers even self-destructed and took hard drives, ram, video cards or whatever it could. Some systems even caught fire. Now if the whole corner cutting on capacitors was not asshole enough, they ahd to top it off. The response from the makers of the boards was awfully mixed. Some companies offered refunds and replacements(Apple, after a lot of hesitation), others (like ASUS) denied this was happening and refused returns and other companies like Aopen were sued out of business.
This. People think that non-metal bodied DSLRs are easy to break, when in fact the plastic will bend and bounce back, metal will just dent.
Plastic also doesn't hold as much thermal-energy as metal, so heat doesn't transfer so well and for example my hands wont burn when my notebook is over 100 celsius degrees hot.
You know how Windows 7 lets you slam two different programs to either side of the screen? I think it would be cool if the sound output from the left speaker increased slightly if the sound output program was on the left side of the screen, and if if the program was on the right side it would increase sound from the right speaker.

That would suck
