I prefer it on bottom. Otherwise it's too awkward to pull it out of my coat pocket and change a track when the jack is on the side, or especially on the top. The iPod Touch was a great example of this.

I have one of those! The tracking is shittastic but the reciever and typing are fantastically good. Love them chicklet keys.
