Just remembered a few on my truck.
Now older trucks are reputed for being easier to work on, but with my 1986 Ford Bastard Wagon (Bronco II) this is not the case. Now don't get me wrong, I fucking love this little truck, but there's sooo many little things about it that piss me off.
For starters, spark plugs. One side you can change them just fine, on the other side you can change one of them just fine. The other 2, however, are buried beneath a clusterfuck known as the EFI manifold as well as various hoses and cables and require 2-3 knuckles on your ratchet just to even reach the dumb things, never mind getting the socket ON the motherfuckers.
The next piece of annoyance is one I don't have to deal with often, but when I do it perturbs me to no end. Most vehicles (to my knowledge) ground the battery to the engine block, or in semi-rare cases the frame itself. Ford decided that in this case, they would bolt the battery ground to the frame under the fender well so you have to fight with a sheet of plastic in the wheel-well to even FIND the bolt, then you have to somehow fit a damned wrench in there to take the fucker off.
At the store in my town, they had a scale where the bags were, so you just tossed it in a bag and you were done. But it was annoying with big items that didn't need to be bagged. They removed them from that store about a year or so ago, though. Maybe they got too many complaints.
They have bags on the scales here too, but Pepsi cubes don't bag well. :saddowns:
That reminds me of the time we had to take out the engine from a ford mondeo, it was like a huge annoying puzzle that came up with some new bullshit everytime you managed to do something.

Its probably like this on a lot of vehicles. But on my Escort, to change a burnt out bulb in the instrument cluster, you need to remove a lot of plastic on the dashboard, and remove the two bolts that hold up the steering wheel. Then you can remove the instrument cluster to change the burnt out bulb. Its not terribly bad, but you do realize how much shit you have to remove just to do something so simple on a modern car.
And mine doesn't have any of fancy features like digital gauges and stuff. Just the basics. I can't imagine all the wiring for a really new car.

Ha! You think that's bad? Try replacing a water pump on an Eagle. It requires removing two belts, undoing three motor mounts, removing the gears from the drive shaft, disconnecting multiple hoses and wires, and probably a few other things I've forgotten. It's about a full day's work just undoing it all, ten minutes to swap the part out, and another full day to put everything back together.
Fucking sheet-fed scanners.

They never scan the full page.
And scanners in Lexmark printers. They just suck.

I had a USB flash drive cap fall into my printer.
I had to disassemble the entire bloody thing just to get it out.
I always lose a single screw.

I still find screws laying around sometimes since I knocked over the dish that held them all in my room. And that was like 2 years ago.
Whoever designed my heatsink is an asshole.
When you lock it down it feels like the latch is going to snap

And the guy who decided that RAM needs a bit of force to push in is an asshole too

Yeah, both have been bought up.
Bastards are good at making newbies freak when installing components for the first time.

This isn't necessarily annoying (I don't know why it exists in the first place for consoles anyway), but Developers, when making ports of games to the PC, can you please get rid of this? It just makes the horrible impression that it's a shitty, half-assed port. It might not, it might be, but just get rid of this.
In the full game they changed it to enter.
Then they tell you to adjust the brightness of your TV... :v:

what the hell is the point of these screens anyway, do consoles not have menu screens or something

apparently the demo was a direct port of the 360 version and everything consolized would be removed
turns out that was a lie, now we're stuck with gun viewmodels that look like they're pressed against your cheek and no more than 3 fucking graphics settings

Speaking of, I just started playing and :damn: I wasted my money. This game is shit. I couldnt even get very far after seeing my first alien. Yeah it looks nice but the controls are so wonky that it makes it nearly unplayable. Sure I could rebind my own controls but I dont even want to really keep playing after I had a sound glitch where it played a single gun firing noise over and over like someone was spamming the fire button right up against my face.

You can change that with console commands, I changed the FoV to 75 but only increased the gun FoV a little bit. Someone made a thing for advanced graphic settings too. (Although it's sad that they didn't include that themselves)
I still like the game though, despite it's consolization.

I disagree, it's a good game which looks spectacular, unfortunately not as good as it could have been due to a number of issues stemming from it being an obvious console port.

even the most terrible console ports have some measure of configurable graphics settings, I have no idea what crytek, as an ex pc developer, were thinking
I have no idea what crytek, as an ex pc developer, were thinking
I do. They were thinking "hey, we didn't exactly sell well last time, because our game would only run on like two computers, and all these consolefags are dumb enough to buy our game anyways, and their money is as good as anyones"
I didn't really like the gameplay mechanics. Could've made it a bit more outrageous and instead of trying to encourage re-playability with "TACTICAL OPTIONS AVAILABLE" they could've enforced certain things instead, like a different route you have to go through or some differences in scenery each time you play it.

I liked the gameplay up until they made you swim around aimlessly inside the alien ship. After too much of that, I quit, and haven't played it since.
Same thing happened to me with Far Cry - it was decent when it was open-world and stuff, but it sucked when they made it a normal indoors shooter, and the boss fights were ridiculously tough.
it's funny because whenever you go indoors on a CryEngine game you get ULTRA HIGH FPS
Electronics that gets outdated super fast.

Wait, shit.
So you want it to be a expensive webcam??
Again it's not a bullshit move, just pure business.
My handycam IS a webcam when it's plugged in using Firewire. It becomes an SDHC card reader when it's plugged in via USB. I don't see what latin_geek's argument is...
The Playstation Store.
You can't access it on your PC without a PSP and some crap software, you can't view it online, and even on the PS3/PSP themselves it still sucks because it's a chore to browse through it. You'd better know what you want.
Whatever it is in Windows 7 that makes the CD/DVD drive spin up at full speed any time Windows Explorer is opened for any reason or length of time.
Dammit windows I want to download a file why are you checking the CD drive
Do you think I am going to download it into my Morrowind CD that's impossible FUCKING STOP THAT LOUD SHIT
It spins for several minutes or until I rage and take the CD out.

Now try that with two drives, I swear the thing's got a jet engine in it sometimes
My desktop has three drives :smug: I can't hear you over how awesome my computer is. Seriously, I can't. IT'S SO FUCKING LOUD!
I've only ever used the DVD drive on my computer to play Playstation games.
I've only used mine to install windows.

I don't even have one.

I got one since I thought I'd use it, turns out everything I do is digital.
Steam, Netflix, anything via USB or download. (Yeah, that includes Steam and Netflix, shush.)
