Motorola Xoom's power button placement. [editline]11th March 2011[/editline]
iMovie. I'm not going to substitue fucking CS5 for some shitty default software. Why not just buy a high end PC? Stupid school. On the subject of school, Power Balance.
Comparing iMovie to any Adobe software is probably the most unfair thing in the world. Compare Final Cut & Adobe Premiere, I guess, but iMove and Premiere?
iTunes. Having D batteries in toys.

On the subject of school, Power Balance.
uh iMovie isn't meant to substitute CS5 It's default software for a reason, you can't expect to edit a professional film on it [editline]10th March 2011[/editline] Final Cut Pro is quite nice though
Also Why did they put the fn key in the bottom left corner (where Ctrl usually is) :saddowns:
The aesthetics of Alienware. :barf:
What aesthetics?
Sup folks, just bought an HP Mini 110. I'm a developer of various sorts and platforms, so I do a bunch of plain-text editing on Notepad++ and that sort of thing. The first time I opened my netbook I realized there was no home key. Or a page up or down key. Or an end key. The entire 6-key block is non-existent, save the delete and insert key which are placed up in the top right corner as some of the smallest keys on the netbook. I'm still really content with this tiny thing, it's the most portable computer I've ever used. Though could you not make it take 5 pounds of pressure to use the physical mouse buttons HP? That'd be great because I don't want to accidentally tap every 5 seconds while I'm typing in my password or something.
What aesthetics?
The sad thing is, a lot of people I've talked to think Alienware laptops look good :barf: IMO, this is a good looking laptop
IMO, this is a good looking, overpriced, overhyped laptop that no one will use because everyone is on Windows. [img_thumb]http://www.gadgetanalysis.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/2011-MacBook-Pro-500x307.jpg[/img_thumb]
French-Canadian layout is obviously the best. You can type English, French and Spanish perfectly with it. :colbert:
Youtube automatically upping me from 360p to 480p when I go to fullscreen after having buffered a video for 10 minutes. [editline]11th March 2011[/editline] Thereby causing me to have to rebuffer for a longer time.

That fucking tiny-ass Shift button is bullshit and if you think it's better than the long one you're a dunce. On the other hand, the bigger Enter button is superior to the longer, flat one.
There is Apple's abandonment of Firewire support on the iPod, iPod Touch, and the iPhone. It's hard-coded now that you can't even use firewire to charge let alone transfer data. Yet Apple still ships computers WITH FIREWIRE PORTS. There was also Silicon Graphics using the XIO Compression Pad-on-Pad connector. There was no avantage to using it and you ruined them by touching, breathing, scratching, denting, or cleaning them with ANYTHING other than low pressure clean compressed air and if you could not clean them, you wrere still equally fucked. They also had a very short life if you were inserting and pulling boards a lot. The malluable metal pads crushed every time the connector was latched so eventually they made little or no contact and caused all sorts of problems.
Especially when Apple was the one that INVENTED firewire!
I have no idea how applicable it is anymore but since they're still around, Dell chassis. for most the inconvenience only stretched so far as to having to put up with the akward way of opening it and always losing those green fucking rails you need to mount shit, but that's only the cream at the top of the shitbucket. Yesterday I was tasked with removing the front panel circuitry containing the on button form one of these motherfuckers: The dreaded dell optiplex. Things started out easily enough, after crowbaring it open, I get to work. Firstly let me explain why I need said front panel, Dell thought it would be a brilliant idea to use their own proprietary connector from the motherboard to the front panel, and then on from there with a proprietary connector to a dedicated small chip containing the power buttons and power LEDs, I lost both these and the connectors and I need them for another dell rig. Anyhow, thankfully the front panel is only sttached with one screw, but the USB ports are tangled in the conductive grounding foam tape on the inside, I end up having to use a knife to cut it open. Step 1 complete, now I need the power button. Still only one screw, but someone thought it would be a GENIUS idea to put it right behind the hard drive mounting cage. It is literally millimeters away from being accessible by screwdriver. I figure maybe I can get it out from behind, and realize I have to dissassemble the entire plastic panel. Firstly I nearly cut my fingers off with a flat head screwdriver trying to push the little fucking plastic mountings out, while at the same time pulling on the plastic to get it away form the metal inside so it doesn't snap back into place, while at the same time pushing with my chin on the other side to get it to flex out so it'll let go. Needless to say I looked like a fucking idiot doing it. As soon as I get enough leverage, I don't bother screwing the rest off, I just break shit off. Now I see how the curcuitry I want is mounted, I still can't get at the screw but I can cut the metal off which is holding the screw, as it was late at night I didn't want to break out the dremel and wake people up in my house, so I had to use a heavy duty pair of scissors and leverage to cut the metal. When it finally went the relief was second to none, I promtly took everything else of value in the chassis and threw the piece of shit away.
Macbook Airs. Fuck 'em. How is it the perfect portable media center without a fucking disk drive. [editline]11th March 2011[/editline]
Comparing iMovie to any Adobe software is probably the most unfair thing in the world. It's like they bought the Macs JUST for iMovie.
Took this very old toshiba laptop appart a while ago, it had one fan to blow on the CPU, which was blocked on both sides The CPU was a Pentium M, would reach insane temps [editline]11th March 2011[/editline] And if software/architecture design makes counts, all i can say is: IBM They was first, and they was being cheap fucks to the max e.g put the A20 gate on the PS/2 controller, now we have like 5 ways to activate A20, some works, some doesnt, depends totally on the system
Flash Intros I hate the ones that go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on Also pop-ups that appear once you click on ANY part of the page. 2leep uses them frequently. I hate it.
Earbuds, where the one place they cheap out is on the jack.
you can turn that off.
I have, and it still fucking happens.
Capacitive buttons (Samsung Android phones, WP7 phones, etc) They're cool and hip for a day or two then they get fucking annoying. Holding the phone in landscape almost guarantees you'll click on something accidentally.

Holding the phone in landscape almost guarantees you'll click on something accidentally.
I have an HTC Aria... here's basically how it goes: -oh, this is pretty cool, it's touch capacitive - this is awesome -shit, I'm going to accidentally press these buttons all the time -FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU- pressed the home button again -maybe if I'm careful, I won't press the buttons all the time -acquire ninja landscape-phone-holding skills. [editline]11th March 2011[/editline] oh yeah, and I'd have to agree with most of the things in this thread, but with USB I've learned that in general, the top (part without the black block covering the holes) is almost always up when the port is horizontal, and almost always facing right when vertical. You can double check by seeing which side of the port has the black block on it, the top goes to that end.
Dedicated Facebook buttons.
$80 Proprietary cables that are essentially Mini USB with a dent in it [editline]11th March 2011[/editline] That are damn near impossible to find anywhere because every model uses a slightly different port
This BULLSHIT: Applies to any modern keyboard maker, not just Logitech
This BULLSHIT: [img_thumb]http://cdn.solidfiles.net/i/570c.jpg[/img_thumb] Applies to any modern keyboard maker, not just Logitech
I don't really see how the enter key thing is a big deal (have this keyboard, with the regular shift key and small enter). Works just fine for me, even when touch typing.
