I taped over all my windows, I think I once saw someone with a telescope next door

No but really if I owned a webcam I'd tape over it too I'd be too paranoid with that electronic eye watching me while I masturbate
My Eee PC has a shutter I can open and close over the webcam. :smug:

With windows, I can at least close the blinds or send a one finger salute to whoever doesn't respect each individuals privacy.

You seriously think the government equipment doesn't see through your blinds?
Come on, at least lace it with tin foil.
Better than putting her real maiden name so someone can just find it out and get through the security question.
Most of the time all answering the security question does is send a password reset email, so they'd need access to your email account as well

I used all my tinfoil to coat the inside of my bunker.

How.
Err, no it doesn't.
All pdf readers ever.
I just set Chrome as my PDF reader :smug:
If your going to post this in CIPWTTKT, its perfectly possible
I wish I knew my WPM, the test we did at school measured in characters a minute, not words.
I did like over 5000 characters a minute.
I doubt that. Usually it is acceptable to think of words per minute as assuming the average length of words is 5 characters. So taking your 5000 character and dividing it by the average length word of 5 characters.
You would type 1000 words per minute. I'm sorry, I have typed in the 150+ range and that is pretty quick. I can't imagine 1000 words per minute.
The test is probably flawed, it's an old (and when I mean old, I really do mean old) DOS program.

doubting you've typed 150+ 100% accurately
I did my test with a 99.97% accuracy rating.
I had to keep on praying through the whole thing because they only give you an A4 of text and I looped through the thing like 4 times, turns out I started a new page correctly.
Lucky me.

Your browser's javascript is probably broken, or you are trying to rate in a new tab.

No it was just broken earlier.
Java.
It installs a new version entirely, instead of updating the old. I once came across an XP machine that had over 12 versions of Java installed. O_O;;
I of course uninstalled them ALL, ran Ccleaner and its registry scrubber, and then installed the latest Java.

I'm pretty sure, that's not supposed happen.
Ever.

It does install certain updates alongside each other, I had updates 6, 9 and 10 or something for one version of java installed alongside each other. The newest taking precedence when running java applications mind you.
True hexpunK, but it would be nice to just replace the existing version, instead of installing updates side-by-side needlessly.
Touch buttons on tv's.
You cant see them when the light isnt shining on them the right way, there is no feedback from whether you have actually touched it or not and it gets smudges all over your pretty black shiny plastic tv (yes im looking at you Samsung)
This is so goddamned true
Im on a syncmaster right now and I feel your everlasting pain.

Oh, yeah, fuck that about my Samsung monitor too. Took me ages to realize you have to stroke the *bottom* to get any response, no thanks to the Quick Setup guide bundled.
Why do they even use touch sensitive buttons? they're such a fucking gimmick
How about those paper-thin Java jackets? I loved the thicker ones. I know everyone's trying to cut back on wasting resources, but my coffee still burns my hands with just one jacket on my cup. I have to use two to protect my hand, because some asshole is trying to cut corners.

I agree so fucking hard. if the buttons lit up then the TV wouldn't be so fucking hard to use
Many things annoy me such as:
My pair of headphones
Some idiot designer living in Taiwan decides to route one of the speaker wires out of the hole where the speaker is connected, long story short it wears away, good thing I can solder.
Batteries
Many things eat through batteries like mad, I'm sure it is done on purpose since designers can't be THAT bad, can they ?
DSL/ADSL Internet Service Providers
That force you to use their shitty cheap brand router and refuse to even give you the username / password. Sky for example.
DRM
I doubt I need to even say anything about this.
Web Advertising
I really really really hate adverts, not only do they waste my time (I never buy their shit) they also waste my bandwidth, at least we have adblock and flashblock.

The batteries are probably still good when you think they're dead most of the time, just warm them up a little.
The problem with batteries is that the basic tech hasn't really improved since 1995 or so (for Lithium-Ion) or even since the 1960s (for Alkaline batteries). Meanwhile, we keep demanding more and more power for our technology. Batteries just haven't kept up with everything else.
The batteries are probably still good when you think they're dead most of the time, just warm them up a little.
It very much depends on the circuit design, some circuits are very good and will run until the battery is practically dead, others drop out easily.
For example I've seen circuits using 3V drop out at 2.7V and others that keep going until 2V or less.
The guy above me is quite right, although in many cases poor design is the real issue, a lot can be done to reduce power consumption but this is often left half finished in a bid to get the product on the market as fast as possible.
