A while back, when Spore came out, I had my first bad experience with the biggest asshole design move of the gaming industry: Bad DRM. You could install Spore a maximum of three times before you had to go through customer support to get it reactivated. That would still suck, but be fine with me if not for one thing: Updating the game ALSO took up one installation. Seriously, who the fuck thought of that brilliant idea?
This has never been confirmed.
As far as I can remember, the only "source" the article saying that mentioned was a guy who claimed he saw Steve Jobs get out of a cancer specialized clinic.
Somehow, with this information the magazine guessed :
1. What cancer he had
2. The treatment
3. The time he had to live
He came out and told everyone he had pancreatic cancer almost a decade ago.
[editline]19th April 2011[/editline]
Then he had a liver transplant in 2009.
A few months ago he went back on leave, in order to focus on his health.

That's true, but his chances aren't so great. I wouldn't think he'd live another decade, but you never know.

Well, the program's not responding, so what else can it judge it from?
Windows 7 Service pack 1 taking ages to install.

It judges from the message pump
Though the detection can be a complete jerk and crash a program because it was loading something for 5 seconds
Seriously, why would anyone use anything other than Firefox 4? I've been using it since August.
I use Opera most of the time.
It has all the features I like of both Firefox and Chrome, and it also has some of my favorite Firefox addons built in.

The type of cancer Steve Jobs has is a type that can allow someone to live for quite a while with treatment. Meaning he could live 20 years longer with it under control.
The most common way people die from his type of cancer is through hepatic failure, which explains the liver transplant. But as long as he can keep his liver healthy and/or afford liver transplants he should be alright.
Not every case is the same and he could take a turn for the worse next year or 40 years from now (putting him somewhere in his 90s).
I think I understand why he would try to squeeze as much money from people.
He is creating the iPancreas in his under sea-floor lair and needs money to help with the project.

Two of the biggest asshole moves in games:
Games tht fuck windowed over completely, what the FUCK do they think windowed is for? They always lock the fucking cursor to the game window so I cant move it out, making windowed useless
Its fine when your playing since its annoying to click outside the window when shooting someone, but cant the fucking release the cursor in the menus
And games that force you to view the same cutscene over and over again every time you lose

Oh god. Anyone remember that mission in Mass Effect where you rescue Liara T'Soni? The last battle in that mission had a really annoying autosave, right before a dialogue and an elevator.
So I just took out some keys to clean my keyboard, and when i was putting them back I notice the "J" plasticy clippy thingy has the tiniest most delicate piece of plastic missing. Seriously, this single piece of plastic was a key part of the J key and it SNAPPED. I don't think it was even as big as a . - it was just stupid. Now I have to click a little clit thing for a J

All the detection does it grey out the window and ask you if you want to close it. It doesn't actually "crash" the application.

...Or skip the cutscene when you try to pause.
...Or skip the cutscene when you try to pause.
This. Whenever I'm playing a new game and want to pause in a cut-scene it's like playing roulette. Will it pause, skip or do nothing at all?
There have been games (Assassins Creed Brotherhood does this) in which the opening cutscene starts, the volume's all wrong so I hit one of the volume buttons on my keyboard and it SKIPS THE CUTSCENE. That's fucking annoying, it should be space, esc or return and NOTHING ELSE.
MGS4 had cutscenes right.
push start and it pauses and asks for "skip" or "resume"
why the fuck is this not standardized? :colbert:

With MGS4's cutscenes, you practically need full DVD-type controls:
Pause
Rewind
Fast-Forward
