Or there should at least be an easy way to replay cutscenes.
...Or skip the cutscene when you try to pause.
Or when you try to use any media key on your keyboard. "Hmm the volume seems to be low *flicks volume wheel on keyboard* *Video skips* Fuck, I wanted to watch that".
How cats don't have a fucking mute button.
Dogs are so much louder.
This fucking thing stops/quiets music whenever i get a steam message, making it impossible to listen to music, and they way it's like that by default can fuck off.

That brings back memories of peeing on people in Postal 2.
I kinda wish the rollball would have still been an option on laptops because I quite frankly hate touchpads. Or trackball whatever it was called
Worst trackpad design. Feels stiff to move the cursor and the button gives me a fucking electric shock. I hate it.

I hate it.
I had to turn off tap-to-click on that touchpad because my finger bounces enough that it randomly clicks when I move across the screen. In the process of going through the first-boot "do you want to install this shit" mode, in fact, I accidentally installed a shitload of bloatware because my finger bumped just as I moved over "confirm" on the way to the deselection boxes. Fun times.
any game that is so heavily unoptimized or optimized for consoles that computers that should run any game easily have trouble running it. I'm looking at you, GTA IV.
The iPhone 3G headphone input, I hate it.
any game that is so heavily unoptimized or optimized for consoles that computers that should run any game easily have trouble running it. I'm looking at you, GTA IV.
There are worse examples than GTA4. It really just does need a decent computer to run. In fact I find the console versions near unplayable compared to running it a PC, simply because the framerate on consoles is that terrible, whereas a sub-$1000 quad core PC can run it easily at 1080p at over 50fps (the PS3 doesn't even seem to run it at 720p at 20-25fps).
any game that is so heavily unoptimized or optimized for consoles that computers that should run any game easily have trouble running it. I'm looking at you, GTA IV.
No. Assassins creed, 1 and 2. don't know about brotherhood though.
Assassin's Creed 1 was pretty unoptimized but 2 ran well and Brotherhood run amazingly well.
Assassin's Creed 1 was pretty unoptimized but 2 ran well and Brotherhood run amazingly well.
For me 2 ran worse than the first.
I've been thinking it's a bug for Windows right now for it happening on Steam, I'm pretty sure it's something to do with it now using the same speech codec or whatever.
It is. Since it's using the same codec that Skype uses and they just haven't gotten down how Windows handles it yet, it lowers the volume when someone sends a message because Windows thinks "omg deys tryin to talkz wid da voices!1" and turns all other volumes down, JUST like what happens if you go into a Skype call. At least, that's my theory.... I COULD be completely stupid and wrong.
On the subject of bad saves: Games where you cant save yourself, instead it only saves on checkpoints Which i think is fine, if it wasent for it being pretty much like this half of the time: Do tedious shit that wasent very boring first time Then do something tedious again Then do something risky you die on half of the time Then continue through other hard parts of the level Die Restart from square 1 :argh:
I don't think I've ever seen that one pop up. I do play resource heavy games like JC2, Crysis 2, GTA IV etc.
I got it before. Stating that I may be running low on RAM when only 20% of 16GB was being used. I really hope that shit's gone in 8.

THen I'd rather have limited saves, but you can place em wherever you want...
MGS4 had cutscenes right. push start and it pauses and asks for "skip" or "resume" why the fuck is this not standardized? :colbert:
Xenosaga did it right. Awesome series, with the pause screen having "press triangle to skip", and had everything you looked at in bonus content. Including every cutscene, cinematic, playermodel, weapon, description, and everything else good about the game. With swimsuit mode :pervert:
EA's account system. I don't even know where to begin. I have an account and I must have about 12 aliases from different games tied to it, and it's just an awful mess.
EA's account system. I don't even know where to begin.
any game that is so heavily unoptimized or optimized for consoles that computers that should run any game easily have trouble running it. I'm looking at you, GTA IV.
oblivion I wouldn't blame consoles for what happened, just that Bethesda focused so much on adding content that they forgot to check that the engine worked properly. Here's something I posted elsewhere.
The problem with the recent Bethesda games, and the reason Oblivion is still so demanding is that the way the engine handles ANYTHING is grossly inefficient.

Quicksaving and Autosaving? Recipe for savegame corruption, you need streamline to replace them with funtionality that actually works.
Keeping a buffer of data in RAM? It doesn't know how to handle it and unless you've got streamline will eat your RAM until the game runs like shit or crashed because it's reached the maximum amount of addressable space.
Rendering shadows? Incredibly inefficient and results in inexplicable FPS drops.
Rendering NPCs? It might be the sheer amount of scripts each NPC has but having more than 3 on screen at a time, no matter what your PC, will slow it down to shit.
DistantLOD? Looks like someone spilled pea soup on the landscape.
Self Shadows? Noticeable performance hit for shadows glitchier than Mass Effect's self shadows.
Multithreading? Despite coming out in 2006, where all three platforms it was released on posessed multiple processor cores, it's non existent.
I mean, the stuff the MGE team has managed to do to morrowind, despite being a bunch of bedroom coders working for free, is immensely better than the tech bethesda managed with oblivion. If I could replace oblivion's LOD tech with MGE's I so so would.

Sounds like 90% of side-scrolling games.
This is a component of side scrolling games... They started adding checkpoints into the game, like Mario. I think those are completely fine... What is worse is when you are playing games where there are more sandbox feel or first person shooters or anything more advanced than a side scroller.
and they way it's like that by default can fuck off.
They didn't design it for people who use Steam. They designed it for people who mostly use their computer for Facebook, Skype, and e-mail. So it's not an asshole move - people expect that automatically, not to have you check a box somewhere. The fact that they thought 80% would be a good number wasn't the best plan, but...
Spend 15 minutes buffering a youtube vidya, click the video to play it FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU NO MOTHERFUCKER, I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE DAMNED VIDEO, NOT GOTO YOUR SHITTY SITE and then I have to spend another 15 minutes buffering because of my poor connection. Why the fuck does it make you have to reload the video....
Why the fuck does it make you have to reload the video....
It... doesn't?
THen I'd rather have limited saves, but you can place em wherever you want...
This, so much. The older Rainbow Six games (the best R6s :buddy:) did this, autosave is a bitch sometimes. I liked the one in HL2, it's probably the only autosave that didn't rape me when I failed.
