It... doesn't?
It makes you reload if you have it at all skipped forward/a fraction unloaded, in my experience.
When I plugged in my iPod, iTunes decided that even though I didn't have that box checked, it would start itself. Why? Because it had an update. Apple should just make a separate app that lets you know when something has an upd--wait a fucking minute, THEY ALREADY DO.

Fucking 60 mb downloads [editline]21st April 2011[/editline] HEY GUYS WE DECIDED TO MAKE IT STANDARD TO INSTALL SAFARI AND SOME OTHER SHIT ONTO YOUR COMPUTER WHEN [del]UPDATING[/del] REINSTALLING
One thing that actually was a really cool design move was I was listening to music in WMP, and I got a skype call, it automatically pauses. Then when the call is over it automatically started playing again. It was nice.
Apple should just make a separate app that lets you know when something has an upd--wait a fucking minute, THEY ALREADY DO.
I hate update managers. Software updates should be self-contained and should NOT require an extra process running in the background. Even a simple approach like VLC does where it just automatically checks the website for updates when it starts is preferable to the Apple/Adobe approach of having annoying update programs.
Well, my battery is ~2 years old, so it only charges to ~70% capacity. And my laptop is high-spec (for a two-year-old laptop): Core 2 Duo @ 2.26gHz, 4gb RAM, and a GeForce 9600. It can run Crysis at decent enough settings, something mutually incompatible with long battery life.
Well I know how this feels. My now really old Gateway has a C2D @ 2.5gHz (Mine is a Penryn, not a Montevina like I'm assuming yours is, likely a model P8600 rather then my T9500), 4GB RAM, GeForce 8800 GT, and is three years old in design, will be three years since production date in about a week ( I didn't actually get it until July, had to get over ebay as this model and it's descendants were never sold in Canada), and the battery now charges to about 30% according to L Mint. Problem being it's getting old enough that it's starting to show for a lot of things I do, so I'll likely never replace it in my ownership time. Lucky thing being I've set it up so I have power anywhere for this here 13 lb beast. Myself being 280 the weight ratio isn't so bad and I can cope carrying it with textbooks. Also, yes Vista power management sucks. 7's isn't too bad from what I've found, but even my fall 09, the battery was suffering from a loss of about 50% capacity, so I've never given it a good test.
Spend 15 minutes buffering a youtube vidya, click the video to play it FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU NO MOTHERFUCKER, I JUST WANT TO PLAY THE DAMNED VIDEO, NOT GOTO YOUR SHITTY SITE and then I have to spend another 15 minutes buffering because of my poor connection. Why the fuck does it make you have to reload the video....
Adblock.

Jesus christ! my battery is nearly 3 years old and still charges to 93%.
just 30%?! Jesus christ! my battery is nearly 3 years old and still charges to 93%.
I have no idea how many charge cycles that has been through. I know from brand new to 100-discharges capacity drops to around 75-85% depending on conditions. Another important thing is that you don't actually store it fully charged. A fully charged lithium-ion battery that sits on a shelf unused will lose 20% of its capacity a year. If you store it at half charge it only loses 2-5%. What ever the device it basically comes down to, don't run it dry, keep it cool, if you aren't using it for a while don't fully charge it. Also make sure you use it or charge it to maintain the battery. They only discharge 8% per month, but if you don't use it for a year, having it completely uncharged sitting around will really screw it over. My battery philosophy is to go overkill. Because batteries are weird in that their is a non-linear increase between capacity and potential work time. The longer period of time the discharge happens over the less I need to cycle the battery as well as the fact that having more time to use it, more time will be spent idle under lower draw conditions. Rather then someone with a battery life of 1 hour will be doing stuff over that period. I love having 5 hours of battery life when gaming, with 7-8 when browsing. I love how power efficient the mid-end laptops have gotten.
The DS Lite having a sliding power button similar to the PSP. This wouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that I've had my PSP for much longer so now I'm used to toggling the power switch up to enter sleep mode.
just 30%?! Jesus christ! my battery is nearly 3 years old and still charges to 93%.
I just recently upgraded my laptop, my old laptop from a few years ago 4 years old I think maybe only 3. It only had like a 15.9% capacity left.
Why is this dumb?
Because he was referring to YouTube, where you go if you click an embedded video. He wasn't talking about ads in videos.
This thread: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1081453-Need-a-new-router reminded me of one of my other pet peeve's Routers with BUILT-IN modem. Sure it's fine & fancy for the average technophobic, but I hate the fact that you can't just stick with your old modem, and upgrade the router, or the other way around. It severely limits the choice for replacements & ugrades. Seriously, fuck that shit :argh:
BF2 is still probably my favorite FPS game to play on PC but the login using GameSpy is ridiculous. It used to be fine before the 1.5 patch which included all the expansions. Now, you have to go to the GameSpy website in a browser, login there, leave the window open, THEN go to BF2 and sign in. If I don't do that, it CONSTANTLY gives me a "Wrong password/ID" error even though it's the right one. Basically GameSpy is shit and should be exterminated. EDIT: Verizon's Modem/Router combos. Holy shit I hate these with a motherfucking passion. Now, not only can I not use my router with all my pre-configured settings, BUT IT USES FUCKING WEP SECURITY. THE SHITTIEST AND LONGEST PASSWORD FOR A SHIT SECURITY SYSTEM! WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING?
I just recently upgraded my laptop, my old laptop from a few years ago 4 years old I think maybe only 3. It only had like a 15.9% capacity left.
My laptop says it only has 1700 mAh left in the battery pack, out of the total 17000 mAh. That's about half of my cell phone battery's rated capacity is. So its no surprise it only lasts about 20-30 minutes.
I hate update managers. Software updates should be self-contained and should NOT require an extra process running in the background.
it doesn't have to run in the back constantly. Unless it's Apple's, because they're dumb. Also, I'd rather not have to load a media library, a fancy GUI, an online store, PMP support, etc etc just to see if something's got an update. Just a lightweight GUI and an HTTP connection. [editline]22nd April 2011[/editline]
EDIT: Verizon's Modem/Router combos. And before anyone says it's not possible - bullshit. I'm looking at the settings page right now, and I can do it.
If possible to set a DMZ to a IP address in the verizon router, then that would be easier
No, then you'll be double NATting which causes all sorts of problems. Just set it to bridged mode.
why the fuck aren't there keyboard shortcuts for renaming files/creating new folders
f2 to rename [editline]22nd April 2011[/editline] at least if you're in windows, not sure about linux/osx/bsd/plan9/etc.
just 30%?! Jesus christ! my battery is nearly 3 years old and still charges to 93%.
My 6 year old Thinkpad's battery charges up to 97% :smug:
My dad has a really old laptop (no clue what brand, every branding thing was torn off) that runs Windows 98 and it charges fully. :v:

I haven't really payed any attention to how I use it, I probably discharge it completely every couple days or so.
not sure about linux
And here I think it depends on the file manager used. In Dolphin (KDE), I think it's F2 by default, though most of KDE's programs have had the ability to change keyboard shortcuts since 3.2, possibly earlier.
Salsa. I'm getting very annoyed at how spicy salsa isn't. I just had some 'medium' salsa and there was NO SPICE AT ALL. I've had some medium that were somewhat spicy (still far too little) but this seriously had nothing. It was like eating salty tomato chunks. You can't even find a salsa labelled as hot in the stores any more, even though it would still be far too mild.

My dad has a laptop that doesn't charge at all, it won't turn on if not plugged in. It has magically turned into a semi-portable computer.
Fuck you windows update! I was downloading my Mass Effect 2 DLC last night and I came back to see none had finished, only to be greeted with the Windows update notification bubble.
