what? that thing's great.
Took me over an hour to figure out how to install it, have it properly rotated, and having it stay put while i seated it in. With a friend.

Now, i LOVE the performance of this cooler after i modded it and fitted shrouded 120x38mm 105 CFM fans in push/pull, however, installing it...
mother of god.

this fucking X-Bow bracket makes me want to fucking rampage and throw my whole computer out the window. it slips a TON meaning it's almost fucking impossible to fit it in unless i have someone helping out, and even that is hard

I assumed it was because of bureaucracy. Always processing paperwork ten days after it's considered useless.
Where do you download your bandwidths?
But... but... but why!? Apparently now you are completely not allowed to upgrade your Mac. Wonderful. Used to be you could put any hard drive in and use it. Now you need a special one. FOR A FUCKING TEMPERATURE SENSOR! HEY APPLE! My Spinpoint F3 has a temperature sensor. AND IT DOESN'T NEED PROPRIETARY SATA CABLES! So much for the "but you can, in fact, upgrade your Mac" argument.

next up: Custom format RAM

oh god, what if they do this to the Mac Pro's? Sales will halt immediately.

I bet the next generation will have proprietary RAM.
I wonder what they'll call their connector though, iSATA?

I really wouldn't put it past them.

Apple's done that before. Back when everyone was using either SIMM30 or SIMM72 (including other Macintosh models), the Mac IIfx used SIMM64.

I don't know if they still do this, but I remember seeing in certain stores ram that was labeled as Mac Compatible (which is funny that it has to have an indication stating if it is compatible or not since Apple isn't compatible with damn near anything) anyways...
2GB of this "Mac" ram was twice the price, or close to twice as much, as "regular" PC ram even though it was the same thing.

I just checked Newegg. They have a "Mac Memory" subsection.
Prices aren't too heavily inflated, though. I checked one product (2x4gb DDR3-1066, notebook size) - Mac price was $94, normal price was $78-84, with the one from the same manufacturer being $80. A 20% markup isn't too bad, all things considered. At least where Apple products are concerned.

The instance I was talking about was several years ago, 3 or 4 maybe.
What really kills me is that many of the technologically challenged think that Apple isn't compatible with anything else because they're so far ahead of everything else.

Because common standards are too mainstream.
