I can't use code boxes to paste huge things anymore.
Which is stupid considering that's pretty much their sole purpose.
I would love to see more laptops come with Linux/Android preinstalled for cheaper because I end up reinstalling over the bloatware infested OS. Also the fact that I get the best versions of Windows (like 7 Ultimate) because my Dad's work gives him an MSDN subscription. :buddy:
I dont think any company would do this, they'd receive billions of support calls about windows programs not working And using most distros is simply a fucking hell anyways I dont think the avarage user wants to dig into a terminal, type "make" to build the program they want to install, and get spammed with a trillion of errors and try to fix them

Again, there was the story where the dell salesman convinced a college girl to get it and then the college girl couldn't get shit to work and just had problems from day one and couldn't get any help. She was basically told there wouldn't need to be anything special done to use linux in a college setting or anywhere else. She ended up suing them, so I wouldn't be surprised if dell quit offering this actually. I don't really recall the outcome of it all, other than the girl getting her tuition paid for or something by dell.
It's not Apple's fault they are following the USB spec. All it takes is for charger manufacturers to include two resistors to tell the iPhone it is a dumb charger, and also how much current it can supply(i.e. PC USB ports can only supply 500mA typically, while most chargers can do 1A or even 2A). Every charger should do this. My Desire HD required it too, so it's not just Apple that are actually doing things properly. [editline]21st May 2011[/editline] My iPod Touch charged just fine from my PC while it was off, and my friend charges his iPhone 4 from the college PCs which do not have iTunes or any of Apple's drivers installed.
Still kind of a dick move they don't default to charging with 500mA if it's a "resistorless" charger. Even my old SE phone goes into gimped charging mode if it's a charger not following those specifications. A little power is better than no power, especially in tight situations where your phone is almost flat.
the way everything crappy has a little compass attached to it to add appeal - shit pencil cases, shit lunchboxes, shit keyrings....
I still don't understand why Apple added this. I have never used it on my iPhone.
BUT IT SHINY!!!! That's why they added it.
That reminds me: I hate how all switches these days are just buttons that rely on software. Why can't it be an actual physical knob? My laptop has a little volume knob which makes life 100x easier :buddy:
My dv5 had this. The volume slider was capacitive. I. HATED. IT. 90% of the time I would bump it on accident, it would glitch out and make the volume slider in Windows go fucking crazy with this clicking noise. I'm glad I got rid of that stupid fucking laptop.
capacitive buttons in all cases are annoying. its like only apple understands this with their iphones
I still don't understand why Apple added this. I have never used it on my iPhone.
I guess a person could let their kids use the iPhone compass for a scavenger hunt and pray that the kid doesn't drop it on a hard surface. Other than that, it's pretty fucking stupid since the iPhone probably already has a GPS.

If it has a GPS that can determine heading, a simple app to show that as a compass is essentially free. And it makes a decent marketing gimmick, especially since the Apple market likes to think they could go on a real wilderness hike, using an old-school compass and shit.
Remember that the whole point of the iPhone is useless apps... and being shiny.
I still don't understand why Apple added this. I have never used it on my iPhone.
We be finding Davy Joneee's locker with this iPhon- arrrrrr, I scratched the bloody screen!
Whoever at TI designed this program is a dick There seems to be no error handling other than "Close program instantly with no messages" Worst of all? There's no autosave :saddowns: [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline] This is especially annoying when the only way to change the colour of a graph is to remove it and redo the function untill it cycles back to the right one, and deleting it somehow crashes the program
e.g: Windows 7 Basic
Actually, it isn't really screwing over the customers. I've only seen this on netbooks, and while you may say it's a pain in the ass, you're getting an OS capable of editing documents and compatible with (most, atleast) Windows programs. You're getting, from a standard users perspective (this is probably the type of person that buys a netbook anyway), all the usefulness you need, and you pretty much only lose Aero (something that would run pretty badly on a netbook anyway), backgrounds and the ability to use more than 2GB RAM (a netbook normally haven't got more, so that doesn't mean much in my book). That's just my two cents, though.

Yep, screw over the people who pay less because they can't pay any more. Utter dicks. Also not being able to change wallpaper, that's dumb no matter what way you look at it. [editline]22nd May 2011[/editline] I mean most of the features in 7 starter should be in all versions you're pay $100 for a fucking OS.
It's probably to keep the prices down anyways, so if it wasn't on it then it wouldn't be affordable anyway.
I find it stupid anyway, why can't we just go back to the era of Windows 95, 98, ME and all that shit, all just 1 fucking version? I mean really. Stupid.
I find it stupid anyway, why can't we just go back to the era of Windows 95, 98, ME and all that shit, all just 1 fucking version? I mean really. Stupid.
Twoish words. LODES EMONE
Aero (something that would run pretty badly on a netbook anyway)
No. Aero on my netbook runs perfectly fine. Actually, It runs better than it does without Aero -Because of hardware acceleration.
The fact that my iPhone USB/power cable looks like this after a year of (not so extensive) use: (still works by the way) And the stock headset just died after six months.

I still have and use one of the older iPod cords, that has the stress relief bit. On the downside, it still has the little clips that you have to press to take it out of the iPod.

That's how I charge my Droid Eris as well. It quite frankly doesn't give a shit what you have it plugged into. But my old RAZR would REFUSE to charge from certain sources. Plug it in on a PC without the driver. Nothing happens. There is a reason why they have charging drivers on their website.
