Microphones on fucking macbooks. Couldn't put them next to the webcam like every other laptop in the world, noooo, that would be stupid. Instead, lets put it next to the keyboard and speaker. Whenever I'm skyping anyone on a macbook all I can hear is whatever they're listening to and every keystroke they make.
My Samsung Netbook also did this I hate it

The first time it was pretty bad, though there were some options to reduce background noise (Like the fan) and it worked pretty well.

My friend once had an older Macbook Pro, and the fan sounded like some motorcycle when you heard it through the mic. Also, on the small macbook air they put the mic on the left side of the computer :downs:
Multimedia Keyboards with off buttons/switches on them.
Whomever came up with the phrase "up to *insert speed here*" Is a fucking dick.
Hot running laptops. Fuck, I can hear my fathers laptop from the other room, it sounds like a fucking workbench or something.
Hot running laptops. Fuck, I can hear my fathers laptop from the other room, it sounds like a fucking workbench or something.
You mean someone working one a workbench?
Hot running laptops. Fuck, I can hear my fathers laptop from the other room, it sounds like a fucking workbench or something.
My laptop is pretty loud, but the GPU doesn't ever break 64, so I really don't have a problem with that.
A machine workbench or so, yes. Also, My fathers laptop is a HP, and the GPU can go up to 105C while browsing web.
A machine workbench or so, yes. Also, My fathers laptop is a HP, and the GPU can go up to 105C while browsing web.
How old is it? My guess is that it's full of dust. HP's have a tendency to be hotter than other laptops (literally) though
Multimedia Keyboards with off buttons/switches on them.
I love the "sleep" key on my keyboard, sure I have pressed it accidentally a few times, but it's incredibly useful when some game crashes and I can't do anything, so I just put my PC on standby and when I turn it on again everything is minimized so I can close the game via task manager.
Whomever came up with the phrase "up to *insert speed here*" Is a fucking dick.
"Up to 8mbps" was what my old internet connection was advertised as. 1mbps instead should be illegal. I'm aware that there are 8 bits per byte, these were both in bits.
"Up to 8mbps" was what my old internet connection was advertised as. 1mbps instead should be illegal. I'm aware that there are 8 bits per byte, these were both in bits.
Particularly the first panel. My old Comcast line was advertised as "up to 40mbps". Given that that's the maximum the modems can handle (nobody was using DOCSIS 3.0 at this point), and that we were lucky to get a quarter of that, there's a reason nobody likes Comcast.
Usually the say up to x speed because they can't guarantee that you are going to get that speed 100% of the time... Which, should make sense to you all because it would be incredibly hard to have NO VARIABLES change when transmitting the signal. However, if you read the fine print of your plans, most of the time it says "You're speed is guaranteed within .1 mbps" or something like that. If I could find my AT&T contract somewhere, I know it says that. It says up to X speed, but it also states that I should not get lower than say, Y.9 speed. If it goes lower than that Y.9 speed then I can call in and they have to fix it. So for you guys complaining that your speeds aren't right, look at the contract and call them up and say "you guys aren't giving me the speed I am paying for." Not only when you get it corrected, but if you threaten to change service they will probably throw in a nice discount for several months. You can get anywhere from 1 month free, or 12 months half price. They get really desperate when trying to hang onto costumers. Especially if you tell them you want to switch to their competitor.
Got a new Western Digital Passport drive, 1 TB, loving the extra space. This is their fucking proprietary USB 3.0 port on the drive itself: I want to murder whoever came up with this. What's the point of having a portable USB hard drive if you have to carry the fucking cable everywhere, too? That thing takes up more space than the drive itself.

I assume the special cable has normal USB on one end, but still... that's retarded.

Yes my seagate drive has the same thing on it. The cable is like 4-5 inches and it's a cable so if you coil it it uses like 2 square inches of space.
it's not proprietary, it's the standard USB 3 mini B
Yeah, can't you just use a normal micro b on the left side, too?
What's the point of taking an external HDD to somewhere without the cable? Are you that confident that the place you go to has such cable?
"Up to 8mbps" was what my old internet connection was advertised as. 1mbps instead should be illegal. I'm aware that there are 8 bits per byte, these were both in bits.
What does speedtest.net give you? Are you cable or ADSL?
What's the point of taking an external HDD to somewhere without the cable? Are you that confident that the place you go to has such cable?
This. They can't stick a fucking plug on the end of it, this isn't some mamby pamby flash drive.
push pin
What does speedtest.net give you? Are you cable or ADSL?
It used to give me ~1.1mbps, I get 30u/3d on my current connection though. Fibre optic now, used to be ADSL
touchpads on laptops should turn off when you plug in a mouse. Also Sandisk cruzer flash drives I've had 2 and they both get stuck in, why not just use a cap?
touchpads on laptops should turn off when you plug in a mouse.
Possible to enable feature with most Synaptic touchpad drivers. I can with my Zepto and my HP notebook. And it was also enabled by default on my mothers Asus notebook.
My ISPs steam server is bullshit 200kbs and it doesn't go to my cap or a server belonging to valve that double counts but is triple the speed.
On another flash drive related note:
