Those are side-by-side and I cycle through using the generic CTRL+ALT+Left/Right.
Also, Yoshi's Island font ftw. It just has some missing symbols or switched symbols I just don't care about.
That font hurts my eyes.
That font hurts my eyes.
It looks like it's designed to be used at a larger size.
It's mainly because of the anti-aliasing that makes it look not like it's supposed to, but if I turn off anti-aliasing it affects everything.
I've always wanted a retro NES font to be the font for my system but the stupid anti-aliasing makes me not want to, and I only want it to not affect the NES font I want. It affected the Yoshi's Island font the least, heh.
http://www.zone38.net/font/#yoster
I have all the fonts from here but they don't look good anti-aliased.
If one existed that wasn't super fat and had all the symbols I'd probably jump ship. I'd also probably do it if I could figure out how to control anti-aliasing for specific fonts.
The font is "nu" from the Artwiz package (you really need this package, it's awesome).
The openbox theme is called "Flat Arch" and it can be found here. I'm using "dark" I think.
The gtk2 theme is just Clearlooks, it seems to fit rather nicely (though I might look for alternatives that fit a bit better).
The background I made myself, though I just spent about half an hour making a new one instead of homework, I'll upload it as a thumbnail in a second.
Anything else? Good luck!
What font did you use for the terminal.
Fixed Conky and changed fonts.

What's the most flexible desktop environment for making some of those creative/minimalist setups you guys have? Which ones have the widest amount of available themes to start off with? I'm using GNOME 3 right now on my VM, but without a full install, the GPU acceleration is piddly at best, so GNOME 3 is nowhere near as sexy.
Openbox/LXDE or XFCE. They both take GTK themes, of which thousands already exist. LXDE is well known for its minimalism, although XFCE not as much.
where do you get XFCE not being known for minimalism?
Re-read my post. I didn't say it wasn't known for minimalism. I said "not as much".
LXDE is way more minimalistic than XFCE. I don't think you can argue against that.

Some of the minimal ones don't use a desktop environment, but rather a window manager with some extra things attached. The most common ones are to use openbox for the WM, tint2 for the panel and conky for the thing that shows the system specs and stuff. You could also use thunar or pcmanfm for the file manager. I personally, use the terminal for all my file managing needs right now.

That is beautiful. Can you give me any themes you used? I know that's Docky on the bottom.

GTK is Zukitwo (dark) by lassekongo83
Icons are mint-x dark
and the wallpaper is just some photo I took that I Gaussian blurred to hell.
Alright, I'm done, I'm done.
I tried out Docky and that wasn't customizable, so I went over to AWN. Embedded terminals into the desktop, moved Conky Around...

There's a difference between my not liking something you like, and my realizing that watching an 8 year old girls show, then flaunting it, is the most retarded thing a grown man can do. Have fun ever interacting with an attractive woman ever again if you walk down the street singing the theme songs and order a pizza and have them draw a fucking pony on the box.
Anyways, lets get back to the beauty of Linux desktops.
The now playing on your Conky setup sure looks useful :v:
Hahaha, it only works when I have Banshee playing. I was too lazy to make if statements and I'm still new to Conky. :P
And regarding the pony thing - it's his customization of his desktop. I only dislike the whole pony thing when it's in every nook and cranny of the internet and is irrelevant. His is relevant, so it's not really an issue.
I just started out, so this is nothing special yet;

Wow they made KDE try to look like Windows 7.
As a KDE user, I will say that the default KDE looks nothing like that.
