It looks like it was designed for a 10yearold.
...a ten year old who strives for a functional yet aesthetically pleasing desktop.
simple since i'm very new to Linux:

I'm really liking the desktop style LCD and Lyoko774 have, what distro are you using?

I just really hate the whole "let's puT THINGS EVERYWHERE!!!!" aspect of desktop design.
Finally got Awesome like I want it on my laptop. Damn, their lua and documentation is a mess!

Try terminator. It has really nice tab and split window support.

urxvt is a pretty good terminal emulator. It's simple, lightweight, and just overall just great!

Looks good!
How do I get the big clock thingy?
I installed conky and it works great - just working on customising it more.

I made the clock myself using Gimp.
damn, Mint is too big for my CD's -.-
What good distros are there under 700mb?
[editline]1st July 2011[/editline]

and....what?
You made that clock using GIMP?
But it updates, right?

Just get the Arch core image and install what YOU NEED.
Just get the Arch core image and install what YOU NEED.
At this point, i'd rather not - i've heard a lot about how hard it is to set up Arch.
While i'm here though, how can I set this graph to have a Y-axis of 3000kb/s?
${downspeedgraph eth0}
using Conky, obv.

It's not hard AT ALL.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Beginners'_Guide
Just follow that guide exactly. I say 2 hours and you'll have a workable setup running.
and....what?

Yeah, I made the LCD background and glass as two images, before merging them. The clock's numbers are Conky, so it updates the time in 1 second intervals. I also displayed the time twice, to get the LCD's shadow effect.
ah, I see.
Do you have two seperate conky processes running there?
ah, I see.

Nope. Let me package my script so you can take a look. :3

Stil working on the clock font.

Too bad that it wasn't updated for 944 days and it's still running the 2.4 kernel.
You should check out SliTaz and Puppy Linux.
Forget Puppy. It's frustrating and annoying to use.
