Experimenting with Xfce4 on my netbook.
So I found this neat little tiling WM called i3wm (should be named just 'i3' in your repo). It has the same features a lot of tilers do, but this one has 2 others i really like

obligatory normal screenshot, showing off my zsh rice, toilet rice, all that fun stuff

this one only matters to me because, in awesome and dwm it seemed like you'd have to use your mouse to set a window to floating. I didn't like that, this one has a keyboard shortcut for it and the resizing of the window is actually controlled by your keyboard as well. Some of you may not even like this, I do because it's much easier for me to use my keyboard rather than have to switch to my mouse.

Third one, and my current favorite, the tabbed layout. You can use your keyboard to switch between tabs very quickly (although the default bind takes a bit of getting used to), and it allows for editing multiple documents simultaneously, or doing whatever you want with a nearly full-screen terminal/browser/whatever. I guess this can be accomplished by using multiple workspaces in other WM's, but I really do like the functionality here.

i'm probably late with that aren't I
at least I didn't come in touting the features of TWM!
Can't speak for Awesome but dwm allows tile mode with Alt + T and floating mode with Alt + F. Never heard of i3 though, doesn't look bad.

I love that Chome icon.

Linux Mint 11. I might go back to Ubuntu though - I'm too lazy atm.
In the background is irssi/terminal. (I just open a new tab if I need a new one.) The terminal is a nice touch to any awesome text-less wallpaper. I don't like white panels so I just got a custom one. Emerald theme: Dots. :3

New to Awesome and Tiling WMs in general and I absolutely love it so far.
Well, why not?

The shell theme is Atolm and the window theme is Humanity.
So, what I don't get is how people say Debian has less bloat...

1.2k packages, and triple the amount of games...
So, what I don't get is how people say Debian has less bloat...
The term "bloat" gets thrown around far too liberally here.
Seriously. Like, why do I need 15 fucking games?!
TWO graphics editors. TWO scanning programs.
Ubuntu has less fucking bloat than this it seems.
don't check every single package when you install it

I didn't check anything that wasn't already checked.
and you installed "desktop environment" didn't you?
you need to uncheck that if you want a decently light system, it gives you all the default gnome packages which is just stupid

So I switched to Xfce after all. Also pictured is how the Royale Noir theme looks like on Wine (it's a bit glitchy, but I'll live, it's still way better than the standard Win9x theme).
