Probably means that the replacement board has Intel/etc Graphics and was never designed for the dedicated GPU.

The main point is to have a laptop working as it should, most likely my uncle has gotten a new laptop.

And if anyone is wondering, with nothing plugged into the GPU it acts like any laptop with NVIDIA Optimus, so games can run on the external GPU and still be displayed on the Thinkpad's Panel.
