480p?
The only time I saw Xbox looking nice was on my friends 1920x1080p.
Even then, I thought it looked kinda hazy.
Wait what, tvs are like huge res like 28..xsometing
HDMI cable too?

No, Standard definition tellys (in Europe) are 768x576 High definition tellys are 1280x720 or 1920x1080, and monitors can go all the way up to 2560x1600.
Hmm always presumed HD Tv was better quality
[editline]06:25PM[/editline]
STD TV are just average ones right
[editline]06:25PM[/editline]
oh lol STD tv
TVs, no matter what size, only have a few resolutions.
SDTV (Standard Definition, which is what a lost of people still have) is 480i/480p. That means the resolution is only 480 pixels wide. That's the same as the iPhone in landscape mode.
There's also European SDTV, which as Milky pointed out is 576 pixels wide.
There's a semi-HD resolution, 720p.
Then there's full HD resolution, 1080p. Take note, that computer monitors have been able to display these resolutions for many, many years. Only recently have TVs been made capable of this.
There's also a 1440p in the works (seriously guys).
Now I leave you with this XKCD.

Obvious troll is obvious :toot:
wow im actually amazed by this info.. Cheers guys. But watching programs on tv is better because its bigger and computer videos are usually shit quality because its ripped or something...
What im confused about is how come all the pixels dont look really stretched, like making a picture larger

They do look like that. When you play a 360p video on a 1080p TV.

Tv's don't go any further after 1920x1080 since no channels, nor DVD/BLU-RAY goes any further than that...
Ninja'd.... Like 4 times... Rate me a jillion clocks, guys.

It is all about how far away you sit if you sat as close to your tv as you did your monitor you would notice it does not look nearly as nice.
TVs are just stretched monitors.

1440p has been around for a while.
Also my CRT from 2000 does up to 2048×1536, TV is shit tier.

Bullshit.
Not that there is a monitor that does that, but that a CRT from 2000 does it. I demand a product page or something.
CRT's could theoretically produce any arbitrary resolution provided the hardware inside is fast enough. Nothing wrong with that.
Full HD displays do still have a nice high resolution, considering most PC's run 1680x1050 on 22" displays. And they're huge. Find me any computer monitoer that's 42". Let alone 50+

Easy man. I got a CRT right next to me (That I'm currently using for a second monitor) from 2001 that I can force into 1900x1200.
I also have one in my basement that is older that I've forced into resolutions like 2048x1536.
Tis' possible.

It is called forcing. You can get almost all crts to that res if they are decent brands.

What a shitty webcomic.

You have no soul.
I like how this thread went from being about an Xbox graphics card, to Display Resolution, to xkcd. Has a nice way of evolving to better and better topics. The possibilities seem limitless.
Also, whoa man, slow down, lets not hate on xkcd because you disagree with a single comic, that site is quite funny imo.
