Windows 8 - "8" because cats were taken and dog races don't sound as intimidating

But really, I'd say the Dell XPS 12 is the best all around convertible out there right now - it's kinda the Jack of All trades, without really mastering any, but I've tried it out and it's a pleasure to use. The build quality is solid as well - the hinge feels very sturdy, and it's really satisfying when it's snaps in.
I've never used one unfortunately. The closest I've been was the touchscreen Win8 laptop we got my grandfather for Christmas. Which was still pretty nice.
What... Just happened?

I'm schizophrenic.

But I'm not.

yoga 13 vs dell xps 12
the last few posts are confusing me the hell out.
Anyway, but thanks for the tips. And I'm going to be using my laptop mainly for music/audio engineering, so basically ProTools, Sibelius, Komplete and shit like that (no, not FL studio) plus I need a good external harddrive to carry all my samples. Right now I only have 40 gigs worth of samples but I expect that to turn into 200 in the next year, maybe even more.

Any other recommendations other than the xps?
so is there any way to center the items on the Windows 8 start screen? It makes me want to fit it up just to make it centered :v:
Our school is looking at getting some of the Win8 Thinkpad Helixes, they had one in the other day
Holy hell that is a nice looking tablet

Judging the price of the thing it's overpriced.
I was expecting it to be quite low for a medium spec configuration.

This is a private highschool, "overpriced" is not a word
The grade 9s have X130 E's and the teachers have X1 Carbons with the external USB screen
I think our IT guys may be slight Lenovo fans :v:

Funny that I own an X131e. Some guy on YouTube asked me if I can do a video review of it.
What systems do they use for art, X230T's? I'm irritated how the I.T guys here in my college don't rely on Lenovos purely

The art students get a small computer lab with oldass Optiplex towers :v:
The place is still a technological shithole, they just started spending assloads of money on new systems
The CAD room has i7 machines (which is goddamn nice to render stuff on)
[editline]9th May 2013[/editline]
We actually have an entire cupboard full of Wacom tablets, in the cad room, they haven't been touched for years. Art students do much digital art, it's all angsty shit like a car door with words carved into it, or a goddamn tv case with "fake" written on it
why the fuck does windows 8 keep breaking for me. It broke for the 3rd time within this month and i have to re install it all over again
Thinking about reinstalling Windows because sometimes webpages freeze my computer up when loading whenever they have flash, and I've had pretty high performance drops recently in games.
Has anybody used refresh? What does it do to the drive it's installed on? Does it uninstall destkop-mode apps or just remove them from the registry?
If it deletes them, is there any way to backup things from Origin back onto another harddrive? Battlefield 3 took 2 days to download on my connection and I really don't feel like doing it again.
If refresh is crappy is the build in reset any better? I just want to reinstall Windows, possibly clean out the C: drive as well.

I know right, people keep throwing bricks at my windows and they keep breaking like ffs I thought these windows weren't supposed to break

My pages never freeze while surfing but if I let my computer go to sleep or "turn off" the computer, my connection isn't recognized at first and it only gets fixed once I reboot it. The tools that were win win7 for diagnosing network problems fixed this kind of problem immediately while win8 can never fix it unless the entire OS is rebooted.

It's not the pages, it's the whole computer. I can't use mouse, keyboard, etc to navigate or open the task manager, since nothing is responding. Skype voice calls strangely work while this is happening though which makes me assume it isn't a hardware problem.

I've been having a similar problem, though I thought it was Opera being wacky when loading something, usually happens when I'm trying to access a thread at In The News for the first time, stops doing it afterwards.

When i used refresh it took fucking forever. Format takes no time at all but refresh takes like 2 or so hours.
Made the jump, and I gotta say it's pretty nice. Spent some time messing around and I think it'll work out.
The only bummer so far is that now my function keys don't work (brighten/dim).
I am not positive, but i would have to say that should be fixable with some sort of software.
For the gaming build that I'm working on now, should I go with 7 or 8? I'm very comfortable with 7 but am willing to learn 8.
8 if you can get cheap
if you 7 already stay 7
8 if you can get cheap

Exactly. 8 is good, but not worth the retail price especially if you already have Windows 7.
Well I don't have either, and they are both $100 for the OEM version on Newegg.
Probably the most significant difference for me was that Windows Media Center isn't included in Windows 8. You have to have the Pro version and pay an extra $10. Of course, if you don't use it, then ignore it.

I got it for free back way back when but you know. :v:

It's technically not necessary but I'm just used to it, and prefer its convenience of not being a fullscreen/side-docked Windows 8 app.
i installed windows 8, no regrets.
I sure am loving the latest batch of updates. The new BSOD when exiting DirectX applications feature is just amazing.

Doesn't work for Nvidia cards though. Suck it nerds.
Probably going to purchase this laptop: http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/laptops/NP780Z5E-S01UB
Could anyone give their educated input based on the specs if it's a good deal or not?
It's got powerful specs. No idea if it's a good price or not, but that thing is a serious powerhouse.
