Welp... somehow got a virus on my computer for the first time in like 15 years -
That you know of. I promise you, you've had thousands.
Anyway, decided to bid goodbye to Windows 8, as I just can't get used to the start screen on a desktop computer. Back to Windows 7 for now. Maybe 8.1 will be better.
Why not? Do you really use the start menu that much?
People will always be retarded in MP games, I remember back in the day I used to tell people that Alt+f4 bought you the AWP and Deagle on CSS.
I used to tell people in gmod F10 gave you noclip So much rage :v:
So I finally upgraded to Windows 8, liking it so far but I'm getting some issues (or well, stuff I don't like) My account name looks like this in computer: And finally, I have a second taskbar (identical to the first one) on my second screen [t]http://puu.sh/3SUdj.png[/t]
You can turn the second taskbar off by right click on taskbar -> properties. It's on the bottom. I've set it up so every display has a taskbar, but it only shows buttons for the windows that are open on that monitor.

Well one solution would be to just make a new user account, I'm not sure if you can rename local accounts because I'm logged in with a Microsoft account, which doesn't seem to let me change it from my first name.
That you know of. I promise you, you've had thousands.
Maybe (although I do have my doubts about thousands [viruses not malware or adware etc]), but unlike anything else that was on my computer, this one was actually somewhat damaging.
Why not? Do you really use the start menu that much?
All the time. I think it's just habit. Overtime I'm sure I'll get used to the new start menu. I still have it on my laptop.
i find myself really wanting a surface rt what is wrong with me
My dad said someone in his office brought a Windows 8 tablet to a meeting and he wanted him. Last night I linked him to the Surface Pro (which is $100 off for most of the month). Today he told me he bought the 128GB one with that $300 bundle of extras. Without any more research :v:

The tablet is not $100. It's $100 off. The Surface Pro is $899, so you got a $1200 tablet.
Sorry, I meant to say $100 off, typo
My Windows 7 install is starting to act weird. Complains about low memory when I have 2+ gb left. Is it worth installing Windows 8.1 preview over Windows 8? Or should I wait until 8.1 comes out to install the RTM.
Well seeing as the RTM requires a fresh install i would wait. That said 8.1 is totally worth it.
So I finally assembled my computer and I have to say for all it's supposed faults I'm actually really enjoying using Windows 8.
How easy is the upgrade to Windows 8? Will I have to reinstall anything? The main thing I'm worried about is my Oblivion installation fucking up, no joke. I had to mess around with data execution prevention to get it to not CTD, so I'm worried about compatibility. Running the upgrade assistant now, whatever good it is...
It will be seamless if your installation already is 64bit. If it's 32 and you're installing 64 then you need a clean install. If it's the same you can do an upgrade which keeps everything.
My worst fears realized: Oblivion CTDs on Windows 8
Have you tried running it in Windows XP compatibility mode? Alternately, how you set it up to work in Windows 7 will work in Windows 8.
Oblivion works fine on my windows 8 even morrowind, how come you got problems with it?
Can't you just fix that by turning off your secondary monitor when you launch Oblivion for the first time?
my surface pro is waiting for me at the post office it is happening on monday
Can't install 8.1 preview on a computer that upgraded while keeping programs and settings? What kind of BS is that??
I'm sure there's a good reason for it I just can't think of it right now.
Any recommendations for Windows 8 hybrid laptops?
I'm sure there's a good reason for it I just can't think of it right now.
its a preview as in dont fucking use it as your main os

Anyone else think MS missed a trick by not letting you navigate the start menu with XB360 controller?
Anyone else think MS missed a trick by not letting you navigate the start menu with XB360 controller?
It'd be nice but I can't imagine the shitstorm that would ensue in Sensationalist Headlines.
