I doubt I'll upgrade until 8.1 launches, simply because I'd like the ability to keep my stuff from my current installation into the official patch. Can't do that with the RTM.
It's exactly the same thing when it hits the stores.

Can I install RTM without external media? Don't have a DVD laying around and I have no idea where my thumb drive is.
I don't quite understand, upgrading keeps all of your stuff if you select it to.
I meant you can't upgrade off RTM to the actual release and keep all your stuff.
I meant you can't upgrade off RTM to the actual release and keep all your stuff.
RTM is the actual release. They might have additional fixes out by the time it officially launches, but those will come through windows update anyway.
Oh. Hm.
Yes, now stop spreading inaccurate information :P.
Yes, now stop spreading inaccurate information :P.
I get confused easily.
Just got a new laptop with Windows 8 on it, any cool must haves?
reverted to windows 8 on my surface 8.1, while nice, has some really weird bugs, which all involve browsing, these bugs are present on both surface rt and pro, running preview and rtm versions of 8.1. wifi sometimes cuts off randomly - internet access just vanishes ie11 misbehaves at times - some sites, including google, give it a really weird ie6 old version, while some, like tumblr, don't let me use it properly [editline]4th September 2013[/editline] good god this post sounds like a fucking security bulletin
skype is special on my pc it would sometimes play sounds on the monitor speakers and not on the headphones like any proper app does
wifi sometimes cuts off randomly - internet access just vanishes
Oh god so it's Windows that's fucking with my laptop, and not my university's shitty wifi? But I don't wanna reformat :C
I've had no WIFI problems on my 3 machines running RTM.
Wifi at my university works fine with my iPad and phone and I can't get it to connect with Windows 8 period. Meanwhile my home and work wireless don't have a single problem.
I've had no WIFI problems on my 3 machines running RTM.
Well I only tried 8.1 with Surfaces, so it must be Microsoft's drivers, I guess.
WiFi is confusing, to say the least.
Just got my Surface RT. Liking it so far.
Just got my Surface RT. Liking it so far.
Guess you haven't used it yet then
So when is 8.1 coming out? I just built a new computer so im sticking with just 8 right now.
October 18th.
Guess you haven't used it yet then
Actually no, because I said I'm liking it so far, implying that I already used it. No complaints so far, meets expectations well.
October 18th.
Its going to be a long month without 8.1. I miss its features.

You can use the RTM ISO version to upgrade without losing anything now if I read right in this thread or page.
Is it possible to make this show date as well while keeping the small taskbar?
