Anyone have issues with Windows 8 machines not staying in sleep mode? My 8.1 machine has been acting up a lot, if I put it to sleep mode it will almost instantly come back on, and quite often shutting down will cause it to restart instantly.
Do you use Spotify? There is an instance(?) called SpotifyWebHelper that creates the problem you described. It stays on in the background even when you shut spotify down. Kill it with the taskmanager and you should be able to stay in sleepmode and hibernation.
Does anyone have problems with Steam Tile not showing game images and not being able to pin them to Start? I recently installed the app and it's only showing like 4 games and the rest are just boxes with the names of the game in them. I can only pin the games that display the game image. Seems that every time I restart, a new game or two becomes available. Has anyone else had this issue?

Is there something wrong with Steam Tile where the problem I'm describing can't be remedied? OblyTile doesn't create a live tile, and I sorta like the aesthetic of Steam Tile's live tile that shows gameplay stats. Plus I don't want to have to make thumbnail images of all the games I want pinned to Start and I doubt OblyTile will get them from Steam if I'm just creating shortcuts. I don't want to sound picky/needy/whatever though, so I'll just keep looking for a fix instead of bothering you fine people with my petty issue. Thanks for the suggestion!
For me I just kept reselecting my Steam profile and the tile images all came in eventually.

Had no idea you could do this: Windows+L = Lockscreen. Very neat.

is there any fix for the usb polling rate bullshit yet
Had no idea you could do this: Windows+L = Lockscreen. Very neat.
That's been in windows since before XP.
If I wanted to install Windows 8.1 on two computers, would I have to buy 2 copies, or can you have it installed on multiple machines?
Had no idea you could do this: Windows+L = Lockscreen. Very neat.
That shortcut is so deeply ingrained in Windows that the only way to disable it is to disable screen locking entirely. Fantastic design.
Surface pro 2 just got a firmware update that adds 20% more battery life The verge says that battery life on their review unit went from 7 hours 33 minutes to 8 hours 51 minutes on the same battery drain test

Now about that price..

Though sometimes in menus the mouse will stutter, but in-game everything is flawless. I usually use keyboard in menus anyway. I don't know how people are having these issues.
Got my Surface Pro today, it's pretty sick aside from the fact windows update is broken as hell

Am I alone in thinking that live tiles could be more useful/display more? I thought they were supposed to be at-a-glance information, yet in most cases they display small fragments that require going into the app.

Some live tiles are just lazy looking text in a colored box. It really looks lazy at times. Other times, it works beautifully. Like MetroTube's tile gives me new videos in my subscription box.
Waiting for the Nokia RT tablet. Surface Pro is sexy but too much for me
For the love of God, please don't buy RT. Not with $300 Bay Trail tablets on the very, very near horizon.

Looks like I will stay on windows 8 for quite a while. Scared to update, don't want to wait an hour or so to find out windows 8.1 failed to install and the mouse problem with 8.1 when installed. Also I'm using amd with GCN, so with mantle coming I could probably ditch the new direct x. Which personally is the only advantage on 8.1 for me. I don't care about the rest including the startmenu.
Good fucking god I cannot get my USB3 ports to work in Win8.1. I've lost count of how many times I've reinstalled my Asmedia drivers. And in my attempt to fix it, usb3 on both the front AND rear panels don't work. Fuck. [editline]6th November 2013[/editline] All my drivers are supposedly installed correctly too. At least, device manager isn't popping up with anything.
