Weird. My USB3 ports work fine. They're on an ASRock controller, though, integrated into the UEFI.
For the love of God, please don't buy RT. Not with $300 Bay Trail tablets on the very, very near horizon.
I don't plan on using my tablet for more than enough entertainment and word so rt is fine. Besides when Bay trail comes out they'll have river trail or some shit. At this point it doesn't matter to me
River trail was years ago. It's coconut trail now, get with the times.
I've been hearing a lot of good things and a lot of bad things about Windows 8.1. Is it worth upgrading to or should I wait another month for bugfixes?
I dont have one problem with 8.1.
You only hear shit about Windows 8.1 because it's the newest fighter in the ring. And with the laughable state that tech journalism resides in, no product receives an overwhelmingly positive response, so most of the bad stuff is overblown.
http://www.extremetech.com/computing/159803-windows-8-1-a-complete-list-of-changes-and-new-features if any of that interests you upgrade to 8.1, otherwise there's really no point

what are some good touch friendly games to play on a surface pro 2? i already got civ 5 and hearthstone
Anyone know when the Atom Z3770 tablets will hit the shelves? Before the holidays possibly? I currently want the T100, but after seing Z3770 tests I want a tablet with that in it. Also, if I do end up getting the T100, what Wacom pens are compatible?
how come i can't exit out of apps in windows 8.1? i have to alt-f4 to easily close one and return to the desktop, otherwise it stays active if i just switch back with the windows key

Be a biiit more specific.
if i press the windows key with an app open, it'll take me to the desktop and the app will continue to run in the background
if i press the windows key with an app open, it'll take me to the desktop and the app will continue to run in the background
Drag from the very top of the app to the bottom of the screen to close it 'normally'.

Easiest way to close it is hover over the little app window in the corner of your screen, right-click and select "close". Unless they took that out in 8.1.
Unless they took that out in 8.1.
they didn't

I want a tablet for entertainment and portable light work.
if i press the windows key with an app open, it'll take me to the desktop and the app will continue to run in the background
Yes, that's supposed to happen. Windows key doesn't close the app, it switches out of it
Surface pro 2 just got a firmware update that adds 20% more battery life The verge says that battery life on their review unit went from 7 hours 33 minutes to 8 hours 51 minutes on the same battery drain test
No love for Surface Pro 1. How much will Power Cover add to the battery life?
I have a laptop/desktop for gaming. I want a tablet for entertainment and portable light work.
Do you not understand. You can do just as much and more with a Baytrail Tablet at the same price as an RT. If you buy an RT you are literally wasting your money
I've decided I'm going to return my Surface Pro, its a nice piece of kit and everything works well, but I find it too cumbersome to use on anything but a table. Probably going to pick up an 11" Vivobook instead.
Yes, that's supposed to happen. Windows key doesn't close the app, it switches out of it
From what I've experienced, Windows is treating Start and Desktop as actual apps and, when the windows key is pressed, will switch from the current app to the last one you were on. Luckily you can turn off the sort-of-annoying multitasking feature where it keeps apps running and displays them in the top-left corner upon mouseover, so you can actually make the Windows key sorta-kinda close out of the app. It's somewhere in the settings or something idk
It's a shame connected standby has kinda gone quiet, it really had promise but it doesn't seem to be moving at any kind of pace, and even though Haswell supports it, as components on the board have to do it most Haswell devices don't support it (even the Surface Pro doesn't). This is mainly in part due to MS not having a 64 bit version of windows with Connected Standby. On the similar subject I feel Windows REALLY needs a proper notification centre now, like I heard a notification on my laptop, and by the time I got to it it was gone, so I had to hunt through the start screen to find out what app caused it.
Hey guys, is 8.1 worth downloading ? I'm still using 8 and i hear about mouse lag issues in some games with 8.1. Is it fixed ?
Hey guys, is 8.1 worth downloading ? I'm still using 8 and i hear about mouse lag issues in some games with 8.1. Is it fixed ?
I never had any problems with any of my games.

I had Windows 8 on one of my PCs for about 2 months but eventually I just had to revert back to Windows 7 because these new features / changes just can't seem to grow on me. I for one consider this as a "transition OS", same as I considered Vista, so I'll wait for Windows 9 :)
