Can I just apply it to explorer.exe or some other background process so it'll always work with everything?
it seems for other games not on that small list, you gotta do it manually via registry or via setting the .exe to Windows 8 compatibility and disabling high dpi scaling.

I know, but I'm wondering if this "fix" is active all the time when the process is running, or only when the window is in focus.
Because if it works on background processes, I could just make an entry for explorer.exe or steam.exe or anything else that's always running and not have to worry about mouse problems again :v:

Yep, just tried it on explorer, works perfectly

What the hell's up with my user agent, I'm on an android tablet
So from now on Windows will require a slightly cumbersome mouse registry fix to have proper mouse support. Your average person will never think of this.
Sigh
8.1 was so glitchy that I went back to 8.0
is there a way I can make windows like OS X so that scrollbars only show when scrolling (globally) and are overlayed on the content/window?

lol what are you talking about there's nothing different between 8 and 8.1 regarding desktop mouse movement

I'm not talking about desktop mouse movement, I just applied that fix posted above to explorer.exe (since it's always running) so it's always active and I don't have to bother with it again
Anybody got any nice themes for 8.1? Currently using this http://www.deviantart.com/art/Exon-Visual-Style-for-Windows-8-Beta-v2-2-393015970
I really like Vanillia: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Vanilla-for-Windows-8-1-411870973
Is there a way to download apps without changing my user account to a ms account? 8.1 wont let me download apps without converting from a local account..
Is there a way to use Dropbox with UAC disabled? It will sync the files still, but the shell extension won't show up if UAC is off

Is that a thing with Dropbox or just Windows 8 in general? I have UAC disabled and a certain program which adds a shell extension is still functioning flawlessly for me.

There should be an option where you can login seperately for the store alone without turning your local account into a microsoft account. Should be there when they ask you to login.

I think it's Dropbox, the context menu items added by 7zip, VLC, notepad++ and awxlink show up fine, it's just Dropbox that doesn't want to work with UAC on
I personally stopped using Dropbox after I bought Office 365, since it gave me 20 gigs of storage on top of the 7 I already had.

Dropbox is the shit for me, I got 50.75gb and I can't recall why.
Hi guys. I just got me a new ultrabook with Win8 + Touch and so far I love it.
Now what are some optimizations i need to do and furthermore, when I search for update to win 8.1 it does take me to the store but it doesn't show any 8.1 update stuff.
Another thing is, I installed dropbox as an app but I don't see it running anywhere on ym normal desktop, like in the bar at the bottom? What about that?
And what is a good way to switch between running programs? I don't see their icons on the bottom bar!?

Oh, and where is minimizing? For exmple, I am in chrome and I want to go to the desktop, how do I just minimize instead of going to metro?
Metro apps are metro apps and desktop apps are desktop apps. They don't work together in any way, if you want the desktop notifications for Dropbox you have to install the desktop version.
Alt+tab scrolls through all your open metro and desktop apps. Windows + tab just metro apps.
As far as minimizing goes it works just like any other windows version. Sounds like you're using the metro version of Chrome. You can switch to desktop version somewhere in the Chrome settings.
If you're not having the 8.1 upgrade in the store visible you're probably running a VL (hack)tivated copy of 8. VL copies do not have the store upgrade
I'm running a new Lenovo Ultrabook and I don't see it.

Make sure that all Windows updates are installed, it should show up at some point. Or try contacting Microsoft if it doesn't fix itself.
Yep it was the updates.
I kinda like Win8 for now but that may also be because everything is so lighning fast with new hardware(ssd + 8gb RAM) while my Desktop is 6 or 7 years old now.
Some stuff is still weird, getting to some network properties takes longer now, I don't use most apps but touch sensitive screen on a notebook is awesome for reading stuff.
Anyone else having big problems with Youtube in IE11?
I've found that within about 10 seconds of being on a page on Youtube, it just completely freezes.
Youtube is just absolute crap these days. With the constant UI and backend changes, DASH playback, and the inability to rewind a video without refreshing the page, Google's really crippled it.
It's no surprise it doesn't work in IE... But why are you using IE to begin with?
I'm really kinda tired of the bandwagon IE hate, it's not a terrible browser anymore.
It's not terrible, but you could be using something better, something that fully supports modern Internet "standards".

It's not bad. I sometimes use it to develop websites.
It just feels really strange to use, compared to Firefox or Chrome.
I've found IE11 to have a lot more freezing and crashing issues than IE10 on various computers, haven't tried the Win7 version yet. Aside from that I don't have much problems with it.
I've been using metro ie11 for awhile now. I like it.
