I disabled driver enforcement through PC settings and STILL get this, the fuck, I even enabled test mode. This is really pissing me off.
So i got from W7 to w8.1 thanks to my high school for getting such licences. I am not getting back to W7.
Does anyone know of any pressure sensitive stylus's compatible with Windows 8 tablets? Specifically the Asus T100. There is a Wacom one compatible with previous gen tablets but I'm not sure if they work for the newer ones
I just installed Windows 8.1 and I love it so far, but sadly Winamp will not work. The whole screen turns black and I cannot control anything. Anyone have any recommendations for another good Winamp like music player?

anyone have an issue where their USB ports stop working? It's happened twice over the course of like a month, both when playing TF2. I have an Asus Z77 Sabertooth motherboard and Windows 8.1 64 bit.

Everything still received power, but Windows just completely ignored everything; no mouse movement, keyboard press, USB storage i/o. It's only ever happened once to me.
Is this a good purchase or no? http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-ThinkPad-33476LU-13-Inch-Convertible/dp/B00BFFDF3I/ref=lp_6369631011_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1385708403&sr=1-4 Update: best purchase ever
do you really need the feature that turns it into a chunky af tablet?
The only thing I miss from Windows 7 is aero. Is there any aero themes for Windows 8?
I'm going to be moving to windows 8, are there any noticable problems with doing an upgrade. I'm not entirely interested in doing a whole reinstal right now I can do that later. I'm on windows 7 Pro x64

Since you're using Windows 7, you shouldn't have to worry about a Windows.old folder (which is where your shit goes after an upgrade) but I'm not totally certain on that.

I'm not entirely interested in doing a whole reinstal right now I can do that later. I'm on windows 7 Pro x64
I did an install from Windows 7 Pro to Window 8 Pro to 8.1 Pro on my school Macbook this past weekend. No major problems. For some reason Windows Update broke in a strange way that it wouldn't show you the progress on updates (would sit at 0% - 0 KB indefinitely). But it still was downloading updates just fine in the background in Windows 8. Eventually did the 8.1 upgrade and it went away. Why? No fucking reason. Ironically, it was dog slow in Windows 7. Windows 8.1 perked it up by a significant factor (boots within 30 seconds now, rather than 2 minutes with fast boot turned OFF). I'd say an upgrade won't hurt anything, as long as your Windows 7 install isn't fucked. It does seem to make a copy of your Windows 7 install in Windows.old which took up about 7 GB. Just make sure you have lots of time to spare. The entire process took me 4-5 hours. However that was on a non-SSD Macbook.
So do we have any rumours on what's going to be included in Windows "Threshold"? I've heard it might actually be Windows 9 and be a lot more cloud based.
I upgraded but I'm having some problems and think I'll do a full install anyways. Only thing is that windows 8 activated without me knowing so I wonder if it's going to be a problem.
I have multiple screens. When I click on mail it opens on the other screen and minimizes the mail app. How do I make it so when I click on a link in the mail app it does not minimize the app to open a link?
snip i fucked something up that's why it didn't work at first, all good now
You shouldn't need to be reinstalling windows for that. Its a bios setting
SO I am a bit paranoid, and after a heavy attack on my computer I would like to know: "C:\Windows\FileManager" is that a path to something I shouldn't be worried about?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/S6cpfSB.png[/t] it's skydrive
That's good to hear, thanks. Also, something that bothers me is that I can't get my files from Skydrive, which is odd because the files were uploaded from a previous installation of windows 8. Is there a way to fix this.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/S6cpfSB.png[/t] it's skydrive
I'm pretty sure it's the metro file browser, not just skydrive.
I reinstalled Mail because it was refusing to open and this happened [t]http://puu.sh/5Kqvd.png[/t] I can't assign a Google account at all :c [editline]12th December 2013[/editline] Fixed it by assigning an Other account... still strange that it wouldn't let me do it the easy way, I didn't have to change any IMAP settings.
is there a way to make it so i don't have to put in my password each time i wake the computer? i already did the thing for when you power up so you don't have to input the pass, but it still makes me do it when it sleeps

Was browsing the internet, and apparently Windows Whistler at one point had a start screen.
Reminds me of MSN Explorer with that clutter
I don't think its cluttered at all (well, the Whistler screen at least, MSN is yuck). Its actually pretty tasteful for 2000 standards.

So I wanna reinstall Windows (I'm on 8.1) to hopefully resolve a USB issue, will the reset option in Metro do that?
