is there a way to make it so i don't have to put in my password each time i wake the computer? i already did the thing for when you power up so you don't have to input the pass, but it still makes me do it when it sleeps
found this out btw, search for sign, click sign in options, down at the bottom press change under password policy
Was browsing the internet, and apparently Windows Whistler at one point had a start screen.
The window borders from Whistler look kind of like the style of Windows 8 borders.

Did Microsoft really screw up the wireless stack in Windows 8.1? Because I can't find a single wireless adapter that works without the "Limited Connection" bug every ten minutes. The same stuff worked fine in Windows 7/8, so I'm wondering what they've changed to cause it.
I've been having problems with my wireless internet too.
What adapter are you using? I was using an old Netgear PCI adapter before I upgraded to 8.1, but it crapped out after the update. I switched to an Airport Express in Bridge Mode, which worked pretty well but had a lot of lag spikes. Now I'm using a Linksys AE2500, which throws the same errors the Netgear card did. Apparently the Surfaces do this occasionally as well, which seems to indicate Microsoft screwed something up with the wireless stack and hasn't yet fixed it. It's also important to note that I went out and bought this thing YESTERDAY, and it's the latest model Cisco produces (They launched this model AE2500 LAST YEAR.) It's not just something I had sitting around in a drawer, this is a new device that, for whatever reason, Microsoft has decided to not support.
I know this might not affect a lot of you, but considering GTA:SA was just on sale with GTA: IV, I suppose this would benefit some of you. Mouse input isn't working properly in Windows 8, and the Windows 7 compatibility fix doesn't work, as Windows 8 removed some settings. It can be fixed quite easily though: Download the dinput8.dll file (make sure you click the right download button): http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?dinput8 Put it in the GTA: SA main directory Should be working now.
Just reformated into windows 8, i really regret it, everything is slow and sluggish, battlefield 4 is now unplayable, and i get thousand of pop up on any site.

I just purchased my first SSD, is there any benefit to go from W7 to W8 at this point? I run dual monitors as well, and W8 built in support is a plus. But if the performance gain is really minor, I probably wont bother.

Still, I wouldn't drop that much money on a license, unless you simply have too much money.

It doesn't even come close to justifying $100 over 7.

For me, the only reason it takes more than, like, 2 seconds to start is because BIOS and stuff takes a while to start and that hangs for a few seconds. Windows' start up screen flashes by in a split second. And dual screen support is way better, now you can have metro apps on both screens if that's your style. Its nice to stick music or something on a second screen and have it stay there.
I accidentally changed my Windows Product ID through the registry and I didn't put it back to it's original value. Am I fucked? It's not the product key, just the product ID.
Did they fix the Music app to prevent it from sucking ass?
Did they fix the Music app to prevent it from sucking ass?
It was updated in 8.1 pretty significantly, though I can't say if it's better or not because I don't use it.
Did they fix the Music app to prevent it from sucking ass?
I really would just use WMP or something
I'm not eligible to get a copy of Windows 8 from Dreamspark, however I CAN get Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro, I don't know much about it and how it differs from the normal Windows 8, but could I use it as an everyday desktop OS?
It was updated in 8.1 pretty significantly, though I can't say if it's better or not because I don't use it.
Does it still randomly change the song names if you log in?
Is the input lag stuff fixed in 8.1, I know the latest(?) patch only fixed some games. But I play a lot of old ones.

Does anybody have a fix for a lot of apps on Windows 8.1 force closing as soon as they start? I've tried looking around the internet and it appears that I'm the only one with this problem.
Anyone have the dell venue 8 pro? I'm thinking about picking it up tonight. [EDITLINE]A[/EDITLINE] Picked it up. Its pretty awesome. Really enjoying it. I do have a general question. Anyone know of a way to stream things off the tablet to a windows 8 PC? For instance, if I play a song on my tablet, can I stream it to the pc, or a youtube video on my tablet, can I stream to the PC?

In which case any old Windows screen sharing software will do. http://www.masternewmedia.org/screen-share-top-25-best-screen-sharing-tools/ AFAIK there isn't a way of doing it in metro though, so you'll have a really touch-unfriendly interface for it.
