Windows 8 - "8" because cats were taken and dog races don't sound as intimidating

Also kinda sounds like I/O is getting caught on something.
Are the Wacom drivers (I'm owning an Intuos 5 Medium) working well on Windows 8.1, or do they have still have the issues when Win8 was released?
idk i'm using an old bamboo fun and nothing seems to be particularly wrong with the driver
i don't understand people who bitch over windows 8 just because of metro
seriously its an easily fixable issue if you hate it so much
I don't like how they killed any decent ways to manage wireless networks, I mean in Windows 8 you could still right click on them in the list and have some options appear, they even killed that in 8.1.
Stuff like forgetting/removing wireless networks entirely appears to either require a 3rd party program or command prompt.

Apparently someone confirmed me the Wacom drivers work well. I just have to disable the Windows Ink that could eventually interfer for some programs.
I just have one last question: I'm currently owning an ASUS laptop with Win7 64bits, and I would like to definitively get rid off the terrible bloatware with the Win 8.1 upgrade. Does the Win8.1 installation deletes everything or does it makes some exceptions?
Sorry if my question sounds pretty much obvious for you guys, but I'd like to be sure.

it will keep personal files (stuff in your user folder) and your programs, so back up your important things and just format the disk during the install

This is the one area I have a beef with in Windows 8. Netsh should not be necessary to manage wireless networks you're not connected to.
The Spring Update seems like a mess to me. I'm glad they're making it more mouse friendly, but the route taken is the laziest one possible.
It's great that the start tiles now use context menus, but what about every other metro app and right clicks (which reminds me why is the start menu the only metro thing that you can scroll on by pushing the cursor on the end).
The search button is ok, but why is there a power button when there's the clickable user picture? Why make a new button when you could just add shut down etc. there.
Then there's this:
[t]http://cdn0.sbnation.com/entry_photo_images/9807929/win81update1prertm3_1020_verge_super_wide.jpg[/t]
Like if you're gonna just overlay two different UI's at least make the taskbar flat like metro, it looks like you're emulating windows phone on an android device.
And that is my rant.
At this point I just want Microsoft to give in and bring back the start menu instead of ruining Metro mode even further.
Delete everything in metro but Desktop and then put whatever programs you use along side it. Change the option of anything opening with any of the default metro programs. Bye bye metro forever you useless shit. What am I, a 50 year old soccer mom to need all the stuff it comes with?
Also another downside is you can't run code on it (slightly annoying if you're in a computer or software program like me)
Try www.compileonline.com .
So both Firefox and Chrome are unusable for me on 8.1. I'm guessing it has something to do with 8.1 such as a background app or how it was installed on the SSD or the SSD itself. Chrome freezes while "waiting for cache" and Firefox does the same. IE seems to be the only browser that works without doing this... How the fuck do I solve this I can't find anything on the matter online.

a quick google search came up with deleting everything in your %temp% folder
you tried that?
I tried everything that I could find. It still seems to do it for both Chrome and Firefox. IE is the only one that works without freezing.
Firefox works just fine on my 8.1 install.
How do i figure out what's causing the freezes? It's obviously something about how 8.1 was installed on the SSD or another program that's interfering with how the two browsers store/ read cache perhaps? I tried disabling the cache on chrome but that just made things worse actually.
Yeah, finally using Windows 8.1 Pro !
I'm finally happy that all the ASUS bloatware from Win7 has disappeared now.

Just reinstalled Windows 7 on my mom's N56V, and fuck, I don't know how they fuck their installation up so much in the first place.
After installing (and using) Windows 7 again on that, it's pretty clear that Windows 8 is faster overall. It just feels snappier than 7 even on my 4 year old i3 330m laptop.
Is there any way to disable scrolling on the start screen or change the tile scaling by a small amount? I've got a 1680x1050 monitor and when there's 10 medium sized tiles across the screen, it activates the scroll bar, but there's no need for the scroll bar as all the tiles fit on the screen fine and scrolling only shifts them by a few pixels.
Google wasn't much help, all I found was tutorials on how to change the number of rows and a scaling tool that didn't work.
Anyone experience random freezes from time to time, where all the windows become unresponsive but you can still move your mouse around and you get that blue loading wheel?
My laptop updated windows today, and my computers been freezing up like that if I stop using it, and be forced to do a hard shut down. I did just install another update that was in the update list, which will hopefully fix the problem .
So I had what I assume was a bug after leaving my laptop on for a few days today.

Is there a way to get it display the desktop behind the start menu like this?

I should also say that the tiles are organized into five groups, the amount of space in between each group brings the last column of tiles about 100 pixels from the edge of the screen. This seems to be enough to trigger the scroll bar, but it's not needed and is annoying as I've got a dark colour scheme and my mouse wheel has a tendency to slip into a notch at odd times.

Yeah, I restarted and it was fine, but I actually liked my desktop icons showing up like that. Is there any way to do that?

But it's gonna be in Windows 9, So it looks like it's probably gonna be a paid upgrade.

"Windows 9" is never even mentioned in the article.
