If you want to style up your start menu you can use Oblytile & Pin Steam for steam games.
Anyone using Steam Tile? I'm having a problem. Only some of the tiles in the app are loading. I can't pin them unless they do.

Anyone know how I can fix this?

I use Pin Steam and it works perfectly.
Hey guys, I've been trawling the internet but thought I'd ask your opinion.
I run Windows 7 on my laptop, and it works fine. However, I can get Windows 8 free from my school and that piques my interest; I've never seen or used Windows 8 before. My laptop doesn't have a touch screen and it runs at 1366x768 resolution.
Should I make the jump to the ocho? What can I expect from it? How's it different and fancy compared to Seven?
You can reply or just rate agree/disagree. Thanks!
It's faster (Much)
I have Windows 8 on my laptop & desktop.
I love it.

If you can go back to 7 you should at least try it, nothing to lose.

Resolution shouldn't be a problem. Works perfectly at 1366x768
I got a Surface RT, it's pretty nice!

How's the app selection? I don't download apps and the like on my desktop, so really I have no idea how it's looking right now.
Still checking it out, but seems okay for my needs.

Do you actually get $100 for crap apps like this?
unfortunately yes, I do. and I'm not complaining, students do need money after all

Hmm
What are the guidelines?
As long as the app clears Microsoft's certification process and is published, and you send the app info to Microsoft via https://www.facebook.com/Windows8AppChallenge before the 11th, they'll send you a $100 Visa gift card. 5 apps total can qualify and I submitted another one just today.

Is it the same as this?
http://build.windowsstore.com/keepthecash
It's not the same exact offer, as you have to go through Instant.ly for the submission, and the one I took part in is students only and expires on 4/11, but it looks like the terms and rewards are the same.
If you have any C# or XAML under your belt go ahead and try one. If you have DreamSpark Premium, registering a Store account is free. It's actually pretty fun.

Oh man. I'd love to jump in on this as I've always wanted to try and make a Metro app. But I don't have a dreamspark account and I really don't have the $50 required to sign up as a developer. Ah, well.
I might be able to grab a spare free developer key. I'll let you know via PM if I get one.

Oh. Well, thanks.
Used windows 8 with touch for the first time the other day (I don't go into electronics retailers that often so I never really get the chance to try stuff like this first hand) - it's pretty awesome. The thing I used had an atom processor so could probably run some retro games as well - I'd pay money for a touch optimized version of fallout or planescape
does anyone legitimately use outlook 2013 as opposed to the metro mail app?

imo outlook 2013 looks way too fucking cramped and bloated with useless shit i'll never touch, but I /really/ hate the metro apps (they feel way too restrictive as opposed to native desktop programs)
I use it only because my work uses it. We have 1920x1200 monitors so the crampedness is easily lost.
Do you get anything if users download the app?
I made a tictactoe a month after win8 came out. They wont let me put into store because im not 18. Wot

The mail app is pretty featureless. I like metro, but the mail app is still in dire need of some big upgrades. The only reason I don't use outlook is because it's expensive.
I just use Postbox instead (ey, it looked cool and was on sale - why not?! I love it!)
