how is Stormfront?
it's a pretty hitlarious place
does anyone legitimately use outlook 2013 as opposed to the metro mail app? [t]http://puu.sh/2xQuA[/t] or [t]http://puu.sh/2xQw7[/t] imo outlook 2013 looks way too fucking cramped and bloated with useless shit i'll never touch, but I /really/ hate the metro apps (they feel way too restrictive as opposed to native desktop programs)
outlook has always had a pretty terrible interface - I guess it's designed to have as many features available instantly as possible for business environments, at least it isn't slow as shit like it has been in the past
If you hide the ribbon in Outlook it isn't as terrible.
The mail app is pretty featureless. I like metro, but the mail app is still in dire need of some big upgrades. The only reason I don't use outlook is because it's expensive.
What do you mean by expensive?
What do you mean by expensive?
Office costs money doofus
Office costs money doofus
For some reason, I thought he meant the e-mail service, not the Office program. :v: But why would anyone use the Outlook office program?
If you work at a company with stuff like Exchange, why wouldn't you?
If you work at a company with stuff like Exchange, why wouldn't you?
Because the website or Windows 8 app is much simpler.
So how does the reset your pc option work on windows 8? Because when I run the command prompt on the advanced options when it can't boot, chkdsk doesnt work because it says that the drive is locked. It won't boot because I get a BSOD saying INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE. I'm just going to back up my important files and then use the reset your pc option. Will that fix the boot device?
Because the website or Windows 8 app is much simpler.
They also lack lots of features.
They also lack lots of features.
I guess, but it gets the main job done. They aren't missing any features I need.
Well that's just you then. If nobody used all of Outlook's features, Microsoft just wouldn't make Outlook.
Well that's just you then. If nobody used all of Outlook's features, Microsoft just wouldn't make Outlook.
I'm pretty sure Microsoft's made things in the past that nobody used the features of... (cough...Silverlight...Cough)
I'm pretty sure Microsoft's made things in the past that nobody used the features of... (cough...Silverlight...Cough)
I'm sure that they wouldn't support an app that nobody uses for 20 years.
I'm pretty sure Microsoft's made things in the past that nobody used the features of... (cough...Silverlight...Cough)
Netflix.
Netflix.
That. Its one of, if not THE most prominent reason to have it. Its also the reason that Linux users can't watch Netflix natively.
Ok, I'm gonna install Windows 8 soon. Just a simple question: I'm on Windows 7, I find it great. If I install Windows 8 will it be better? And, most important: Is it great for gamers. I have to get a new screen too.. 1280*1024 sounds a bit little.

It's functionally the same as Windows 7.

It was definitely worth it back when it was $30, but now it's simply too expensive. Just wait it out, get a higher-resolution display instead.

Windows 8 costs, what, $70? Windows 8 is an improvement to 7, but only marginally so.

Wait until Windows 8.1 at the very least. Put the money towards a better monitor.
This shit takes some getting used to... Also I'm not liking this Metro focused operating system, I had something freak out last night, and my start screen wouldn't open at all. Considering I'd just installed it, it was kind of a big deal, I couldn't get into any of the settings or control panel or anything, just the desktop and whatever was pinned to it...
Press Windows Key, start typing "control panel" I know Windows 7 had it pinned to the Start menu by default, but you can just re-pin it in Windows 8
That was my point, something fucked up, and the start screen (the whole tiles and charms and shit) wasn't coming up. Tried mousing over the corner, windows key, everything. Fixed itself after a restart though. Sorry if I didn't make that clear enough in my other post. I mean it's not like the same thing couldn't happen in previous versions of Windows (if the start menu failed to open), but I think now that I'm placing all of my stuff in the tiles, and not on the desktop, it felt a lot more crippling. Otherwise aside from it being different, it's not bad. Oh and the Windows Live integration. That's annoying.
People are gonna have to start liking the metro UI as microsoft is never going back to the old start menu.
People are gonna have to start liking the metro UI as microsoft is never going back to the old start menu.
They could always just go elsewhere. The stockpile of Windows applications that have nothing to do with Metro are keeping Windows afloat; if they loose those then there is nothing stopping Windows from falling out of favour.

I don't use it, I like keeping my machines logically seperate.
The Windows Live integration is optional, fortunately. I actually don't have much of a problem with it, I just wish it was easier to change the account's email.
Well, I moved already, and I like it. I thought it'd be shitty, but. Now, my goal is to get a new processor or a new screen. Metro, etc is actually great. I was the one that was always saying shit about W8.
might wanna snip that
