What's the difference between Virtual PC and XP Mode?
What's the difference between Virtual PC and XP Mode?
XP Mode is XP in Virtual PC. Naming gimmick.
I believe my Windows-Seven upgrade ships out on november 12th.... I bought a copy of Windows-Vista Home Premium X64 In July, And a free upgrade comes with it. Yay for me!
Been using Windows 7 beta on my laptop since January, finally got around to putting the RC on my desktop, loving every minute of it so far. One quick question; is there a registry value I can tweak so that the aero peek function comes up faster than it does typically when alt-tabbing? (where you have to pause for about half a second for the windows to all go transparent). It’s actually very helpful for me – especially since I have the taskbar set to always combine.
Can you believe this has been under dev for 2 years? Its out in 4 FUCKING DAYS

To set it follow these steps: Here are the steps: 1. Click on the Start Button and type in Regedit and hit Enter. 2. Navigate through HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced. 3. Right click on Advanced and select New DWORD and name the new value "ExtendedUIHoverTime". 4. Right click on ExtendedUIHoverTime and select Modify. 5. Switch to Decimal base and enter in your new number. The default is 400 milliseconds however I recommend 200 or 100. 6. Once changed click OK and restart the explorer process or restart your computer. Additionally.... I found another site also that let's you set this globally for all hover system times (Tasbar Icons, start menu, shortcuts etc.... 1. Click on the Start Button and type in regedit and hit Enter. 2. Navigate through HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Mouse. 3. Right click on MouseHoverTime and select Modify. 4. Set the new value. The default value is 400 milliseconds. 5. Once changed, click OK and restart your computer.
[editline]11:58PM[/editline] I know the second one affects the alt-tab preview, don't know about the first.
Second one is global hover time, the first is for the TaskBandExtendedUI which is the panel and all its contents when you hover over an open program in the taskbar.
Is there something I can edit in the registry to slightly speed up windows Open and Close animations? Just for the hell of it.
My dad got his version in the mail today! he let me have it and i love it!
