I hate how they didn't mention Windows 2000.
Don't take that the wrong way, I hate these commercials, it just makes me mad that they felt Windows 2000 wasn't worth mentioning while Windows ME was.
ME!!! OH GAWDS!!!!!
They mentioned the consumer products not the business products.
I figured I might ask in here rather than making my own thread.
I'm about to install w7 using the upgrade thingy since I don't feel like formatting. But my only concern is that all my drivers will fuck up.
My pc is rather new (bought it this summer) so I suppose the drivers that I have should already be working with w7 or the newer drivers do? Please tell me since it would suck so hard to upgrade only to find out that my drivers are raped and nothing I can do about it.
My gpu is an ATI XFX HD4890, my cpu is an i7 920 and my mobo is an ASUS P6T Deluxe something. (Not sure about the name completely.)
So any thoughts on my issue?
Could someone help me with installing this?
I've got everything I need for Windows 7, I just created a new partition of 30gb on my 1tb harddrive for it and formatted it to NTFS.
I try to install Win 7 on this partition but I get an error message saying:
'Windows cannot copy files required for installation. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070241'
What the fuck do I do to fix this? I've tried looking for answers on google but most people seem to be talking about the beta. Why can't it just be simple :(

You will be fine, Vista drivers work in Windows 7 (although native drivers are preferred)
Also I don't get why people don't format... It's the most efficient way of installing a new OS, You lose all of the crap you have accumulated over the past x months/years and get a clean OS again.

I'm assuming you're installing retail?

Yep, brand spanking new out of the box.

Thank you. I will eventually format but right now I got a few things that are quite annoying to get all over again. And I'm quite the lazy batard. :v:

I bought Windows 7 32 bit, for my laptop, I'd like to know if it's (legally?)
Possible to install Windows 7 twice on two different PC's?
and
Is it's possible to somehow magically transform that 32 bit into 64 bit, I bought 2 additional gigabytes of RAM today and I'd like to use all 4 GB instead of 3 GB.
My desktop's on Vista 32 and so is my laptop. I want my laptop on W7 32 bit, and my desktop on W7 64 bit.
What solutions do you guys have?
1st: Depends on which version you bought, Retail or OEM.
2nd: I think you can request a x64 DVD from MS.

It's not legally possible, but it may be technically possible depending on how MS has set up activation checks for Windows 7.

Anyone able to help me at all?

I heard something about SATA compatibility...think I might have a shot if I get my hands on a non SATA CD/DVD drive?

1: It's complicated, I bought an Acer laptop and Acer had an offer, I think it's retail., but it could possibly be OEM.
2: Great. Is it free? Probably not.

Sounds like OEM to me, if it came with or as an upgrade to the Acer laptop, it's bound to the computer, which means OEM.
And to 2, it won't be free. Just always get x64 unless you have an old printer or something, even if you don't have 4 gb of ram. (I know, you can't chose when it's an upgrade from Acer)
It's bound to the computer? So I can't install it on other computers?

Only other Acer computers.
Windows 7 is cool, I had a few problems with sound drivers but they're all resolved now :]
Haven't used any other OS since XP came out, but I give Windows 7 Nine thumbs up.

They should've added an "always combine, show labels" option. :(
thats what happens when you fuck around in the wrong neighborhood :c00l:
