Aw, you replied before I made my post nicer :saddowns:
I felt the love too. :frown:
Well anyway, back on topic, here's how to clean install with upgrade media without using the install twice method...
I'm going to get the family pack so should be good :neckbeard:
I only used the Start menu about twice today.
I got Windows 7 yesterday (I love being a student) and the overhaul to the taskbar has me damn-near giddy. I love the speed of it over the old system (once I tweeked the registry settings) and I can just slide my mouse over it to view any open window. Games are running faster without me having to spend ten minutes shutting down processes and even my crappy laptop will start up in a matter of seconds.
Yeah!
I don't think it warranted a stand-alone operating system, though. Surely this could have been released as a service-pack perhaps? It definitely doesn't seem like enough to warrant re-licensing your copy of Windows.
alright, this has been bugging the living shit out of me. i've ignored it for as long as i could.

it's only like that when i right click on a file. folders/everything else are/is normal. any idea on how to get it back to how it should be?
-snip snip-
the right-click context menu is using what looks like the classic theme. only problem is, i'm not using classic. i'm using aero.
its the 7zip thing i think. tell it not to do context menu and post results.
i remember having this a while ago and im pretty sure it was 7zip.
still messed up. i'm pretty sure it started the same time i installed TortoiseSVN a few weeks ago. i've even uninstalled that, still no dice.

Dad'n I figured out that we're going to buy a 7 family pack when we get to the states, it's not that cheap in Denmark.
Is there a way to make Aero Snap clip 4 windows to a corner of the screen each?
I mean 2 programs at the same time is nice but my widescreen offers so much more room than that and it'd make my work a whole lot more productive.
ah. scratch my problem. i uninstalled notepad++ and it went back to the way it should be.

Notepad++ is a fine piece of software, and you should be able to live with that problem. I might file a bug report though.

Question: How do I pin a "Show Desktop" button to the taskbar? I know the option is just one click away but I'd rather have it as a huge icon slapped on there.

You're joking right?

Wouldn't you rather have have 4 parallel windows rather than 4 quarters if your widescreen monitor is so big?

Just installed Windows 7 professional on my netbook, wasn't sure how it'd perform, but it's great, aero enabled and everything without a problem.
The new task bar is nice and easy to use on the small screen too. Love it!

I can't afford anything over $0 right now...
Is there any reasin not to buy the Home Premium Version for 35 bucks?
I mean, what does the professional stuff bring me?
Would I miss anything ?
I am using my PC for University stuff like Mathematika, a few measurement-tools, office and gaming.

Congrats.
Do you guys think its worth it to reformat and install Windows 7 again just to go from 32 bit to 64 bit? I only have 4GB of RAM at the moment. What happened was I got my disc screwed up (Teach my not to label them properly) and it installed the 32bit instead of the 64bit.
My windows 7 ultimate has two discs.
one has 32 bit the other has 64 bit
what version do i install?
More like
Vista SP3
Windows 7 SP1
Windows XP SP4

Thread King...
Never mind the 64 bit dvd doesn't do anything in my drive but the 32 bit one does
Congrats.
