I'd just stick with MSE personally
Same here, seems like a pretty decent anti-virus. I put it on all our office computers after recently replacing them and now my personal ones since win7 came out..
ah. scratch my problem. i uninstalled notepad++ and it went back to the way it should be.
Are you on 32 bit? I'm on x64 and it wouldn't even add the context menu entry for me, had to add one manually.

Wow, if I had known how inexpensive Technet was I would have bought it a long time ago and had Windows 7 RTM for months :saddowns:

I thought it was easy personally. I was just glad the .exe from them created a folder with the contents of the disc as well though.
I hear Windows 7 has a feature letting you move all of your data to a FAT32 space on your hard drive so that when 7 is installed, you don't have to wait 10 days to re-download and reinstall all of your shit. Is this true? Because I am about to install Windows 7 right now, upgrading from Vista.

or you can backup stuff to an external HDD.
I don't have an external hard drive. The biggest thumb drive I have is 2GB

how much stuff are you backing up
Around 131GB worth. I don't want to redownload all of my steam games, lose all of my important documents, and reconfigure all of the programs I currently use. I was told that Windows 7 can move all of this to a FAT32 partition so that when the fresh OS is in place, all of your data will be right there for you.
[editline]08:44PM[/editline]
Apparently it's called Windows 7 Easy Transfer, where it migrates all of your data into the new OS. Will this keep my programs and games ready to use once I've made the switch?

So, what independent testing has been done comparing MSE to various other anti-virus suites yet?
I'm going to go crazy and shoot myself. DO NOT BUY WINDOWS 7 FROM DIGITAL RIVER DISCOUNT PROGRAM! Contact microsoft store directly and buy it from there. Here is just one of my issues

it transfers everything in your users folder and you need a flash drive, an easy transfer cable, or transfer it over a network

My upgrade is still in the mail somewhere, but my brother is a teacher's assistant at his school, so he gets free W7 Professional, and he downloaded it. Speaking of which, the download is done right now.
Wish me luck, comrades.

Ok, good. It's going to be installed on the same PC, I was just worried about having to re-download all of my shit.

It worked fine downloading it twice for me, and the $120 discount off the retail price is worth a few issues imo.

well i found this: http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=4512
and: http://www.sevenforums.com/news/29737-microsoft-security-essentials-detects-4m.html (not really a test)
Well, fucking brilliant. My dumbass brother downloaded Professional instead of Home Premium, which is what we use. Now I can't transfer my files. Fuck it, I'm just waiting for my upgrade dvd to come in the mail.
