Ah, shucks.

Thank you pixel
First I went through digital river and that was a total mess. Win 7 wouldn't download and then they never sent my disks. I eventually just canceled my order and called the phone store to get it from there. Just say you want the student discount and the person SHOULD give it to you. One guy wouldn't let me so just called another and he let me. So hopefully I will get my full version with student discount in 4 days. :cthulhu:
I just switched from Win 7 (7100) 32bit to the Win 7 64bit RTM. Feels so good. First time I'm using a 64bit OS and haven't really noticed any difference though.

That is a good thing.
Noob question, but, what makes 64-bit better than 32-bit besides being able to have more ram?
That's the big thing, but I believe that if you do a lot of multitasking it helps speed that up to.
Well, this sucks. CMI9880 soundcard drivers worked fine on 7100 32x and the same drivers but for 64x dont work at all. Windows wont accept them due to a bad signature, googled a lot and it seems that the card is useless until there's new drivers released. Getting a cheap PCI sound card at the store later. :(

For 32bit programs, nothing at all is different.
For 64bit programs, they tend to work a bit faster and utilize system resources much better.
Just got my new laptop with windows 7 on it. The processor is a bit lacking though. I shouldn't complain though. This thing was only $360.

Right after the POST portion of computer startup, keep clicking F8 until a little selection menu comes up, the one with safe mode and such. One of the options on this screen allow you to turn off signature checking. Boot through that when drivers go wild.
That didn't disable it at all.

Meh, forget it. I'll just wait for my new card to arrive.
Hit install anyway?
Is there anywhere I can get win7 ultimate 64 bit as a student for cheap?

We're all doomed!! :tinfoil:
MSDN for free or the student promotion for £30/$LOCAL_CURRENCY 30
Is it just me, or does Win7 clash with punk buster?
Ever since I upgraded, I cant play any of my punk buster games (eg COD:WAW)
Alrighty guys, problem.
So, when i first got my new pc on sunday, with win7 of course, i installed GTA SA. It worked till today, but now it doesn't work. I've tried system restore, but it always fails saying i should disable my antivirus, which i do.
Specs:
6gb ddr2 RAM
AMD Athlon II X2 2.7ghz
EVGA 9400gt 1gb ddr2
Windows 7 Home Premium
~700gb hard drive
Did you uninstall San Andreas and re-install it?

It works better when you actually tell us what the problem is, aside from "it doesn't work"
I mean it'll shut the fuck up for 10-15 minutes after entering the password first time.

There, happy? Hope i did it right for the video, lol.
Anyways, if you can't tell from the video, here's a description:
Ok, so when i either double click or just select the icon then press enter (doesn't matter anyways, lol) it'll go to the aero basic theme (you know, the one that's all silver/light blue) then it'll go to a black screen for maybe 1/4th of a second, then back to desktop with my normal theme.
I've tried running it in compatibility mode for XP SP2 and SP3, to no avail. I've tried running it with "disable visual themes" and "disable desktop composition", neither helped.
It worked yesterday/a couple days ago, now it won't! Also, i can't do system restore to before i installed it in the first place, when i do, it'll do the usual thing of system restore, restart as usual, but when it loads to the desktop, it says "system restore failed, try disabling any antivirus running" or something like that. The thing is, i've tried that, and it hasn't worked. Halp!
[editline]09:26PM[/editline]
Also, i've tried uninstalling then reinstalling it.
Did you install any mods/edit files at all?
I'm gonna install Windows 7 so I can enjoy waiting for all my updates to install.
I'm gonna install Windows 7 so I can enjoy waiting for all my updates to install.
Um.. No? Yeah, no. I have not.
EDIT: Oh wow, that was a bad thing. Rate me box
Did you install any mods/edit files at all?
I meant no to you :P
Is it still legal to download RC 7100 through torrents? I'm seeing alot less of them and seeing that some have been taken down due to 'copy right infringment' O.o
No, they aren't illegal, it's just that they're outdated.
Hit install anyway?
It just comes up in a loop, if I hit install it just asks again and if I dont it quits the setup.

How many times did you let it go through?
Sometimes more than one driver file has to be installed for it to be usable.
