Stopped at around ten or something
Stopped at around ten or something
TBH that sounds more like an incompatible driver than a problem with Windows signature checking.
Out of curiosity, where are you finding your drivers for your card? I checked the C-Media website, and it isn't even listed. http://www.cmedia.com.tw/drivers.html
*sigh* You forgot about my problem and moved straight to the next
Uhm, reinstall drivers? Or reformat if you really want it.
How do I stop my wallpapers from compressing to horrible quality? I save them as crisp as the morning, make sure they're still good in preview, set as wallpaper, and they're compressed. It's unbearable since red compresses the worst and this wallpaper has a lot of red.
I notice this only happens when I use PNG wallpapers. JPEG wallpapers aren't affected by this.
Is it just me, or does Win7 clash with punk buster? Ever since I upgraded, I cant play any of my punk buster games (eg COD:WAW)
No one got info on this?
Is there anywhere I can get win7 ultimate 64 bit as a student for cheap?
I believe you can only get home premium and professional. You could go through digital river but don't do it. Just call the microsoft store directly and say you want professional (or home) with the studen discount. If they give you the link to digital river just call again and eventually you will find a person who will let you do it through there. DO NOT GO THROUGH THE SITE ONCE AGAIN.
Fuck yes because my brother is studying in USA right now will he be buying me Windows 7 for $30 because of the student offer. So goddamn happy ! Now i just need to wait for christmas when he'll come home.
DO NOT GO THROUGH THE SITE ONCE AGAIN.
Why does everyone hate DR so much? I didn't have any issues with them except for the .exe download thing, but you can easily get past that.
should i buy it
ya
Solved my gta problem, i just did a factory reset!
lol
defrag and try again

Lately one of my hard drives is checked with chkdsk every time I boot, same thing happened to my laptop up until recently. Chkdsk never finds anything and a SMART check comes back ok, so I assume there's nothing wrong with the drive itself. Anyone know why 7 keeps doing that?
I'm pissed, Acer sent me Windows 7 for my laptop. They sent me two DVD's, but my laptop doesn't have disk drives which they obviously know. I made two .iso files out of the DVD's an put them on my laptop and halfway through the install it tells me that some of the files are corrupt/don't work. Is it possible to download an upgrade if you have a W7 key?
Hey guys. I just got myself a laptop that comes with Windows 7. It's all pretty but kinda weird. And only thing I use my computer for is gaming. Even though this laptop has more powerful hardware in terms of memory and graphics, trying to lunch a steam game on it takes like an hour. And then I have to play with no post processing for Gmod or it will lag. TF2 is even worse - all setings to lowest is not enough. I had to resort to ultra-shitty settings and configs that were enough to run TF2 on even a tiniest netbook to actually play a match. Looks like Windows 7 has a thing against running steam apps. Maybe it also has something to do with it being a win-xp 32 bit version of Steam while my W7 is 64 bit and I run it in compatibility mode? tl;dr: I wanted to play steam games. I got a lappy, and it has W7. will I regret this?
Would kind of be nice if you posted some specifications.
sounds more like you bought a shit laptop and are trying to blame 7 specs required
Maybe it also has something to do with it being a win-xp 32 bit version of Steam while my W7 is 64 bit and I run it in compatibility mode?
wat There's only one version of Steam and you don't need to run it in compatibility mode. If it's giving you problems then you should try reinstalling it.
Specs: Core 2 duo at 2.13 ghz 4 GB ram Windows 7 64 bit NVidia GeForce GTX 260m HDD: SATA 320gb 5200rpm. It's an Asus G60vx.

Have you tried reinstalling it? And if your laptop came with 7 preinstalled, I recommend you reformat right away to get rid of bloatware and such.
Definitely clean all the bloatware crap, I would also recommend going into msconfig and disabling all the startup junk they have on there (Be VERY careful when doing this). I would also go to nvidia's website and downloading the most recent drivers for it.
The Windows Upgrade Edition keeps telling me that my IDE controller drivers are out of date, and I'm not even using it. I can't find any driver updates, so what can I do to make it ignore it? Can I just disable the IDE controller?
Just ignore it. They'll be fine.
It won't let me continue the upgrade though, it keeps stopping itself when it detects the incompatible drivers.
