Nah they are all just pleased Windows has finally caught up with OS X somewhat.
It was only Vista that was shit, everything else was balanced to Mac, maybe not in terms of a pretty OS but certainly in terms of useability and a fair price.
Oh yeah the main reasons why I love OS X is for the shininess. Otherwise I mostly prefer windows in terms of how it works
Cool, is the laptop powerful enough to play any games like the Mac Pro (with bootcamp)?
I have a 1545 and I can play TF2 on medium at about 15FPS. It's playable but really sad.

Bit of a quick question here that doesn't warrant its own thread: I'm installing W7 64-bit and upgrading to 4GB of memory while I'm at it. When would be the best time to switch the ram out? Right now, while I'm still on Vista 32-bit, after installing W7, or right before booting to the W7 install disk? If it's the latter, should I run memtest before installing Windows just to make sure it's working fine? Thanks.
i say before installing win7 and after shutting down vista the last time.
This because it will save you a reboot, but it really makes no difference. And you don't need to run memtest unless you run into errors that could be RAM related.
Too bad vista and 7 are the same thing. Anyone that thinks otherwise is wrong. 7 is just vista with the bloat cut off. It still uses the same kernel and all that other good stuff.
Wrong, troll... very wrong. The Windows 7 kernel was optimized and recompiled since Vista. Also, memory management took a noticeable performance leap. Your post surprised me, since you're so much into Windows 7. I expected better from you.

I think Jimmy just strolls around to be active in the Windows 7 threads, but judging by quite a few posts I've seen him make, he seems to not know what he's talking about at all. Sorry, Jimmy.
Wow, this is stupid. I can't upgrade Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Home Premium. I didn't even install Vista Ultimate on this computer, Windows corrupted and I had to send the computer away, and they installed Vista Ultimate on it. Fucking hell, now if I want Windows 7 I either have to spend four days backing up every fucking thing or I have to shell out $500 AUD for the Ultimate upgrade edition. Fucking Microsoft. THIS IS BOLLSHIT.
Just do a clean install, it is no big deal. In the install as long as you DO NOT format it will move everything currently on the harddrive into windows.old.

Does anyone know if the college student offer is an upgrade version or a full version you get for $30?
Does anyone know if the college student offer is an upgrade version or a full version you get for $30?
It is the upgrade edition but if you have an OS preinstalled you can select custom install which will let you do a clean install.
Shininess? It's not shiny. It's matte gradients.
Which come across as having a slight shine to the top
Wrong, troll... very wrong. The Windows 7 kernel was optimized and recompiled since Vista.
It's still Vista, just optimized.
Specs?
15.6 in. widescreen Intel Celeron 900 2.2 GHZ 3GB RAM Intel X4500HD Graphics Plays HL2 at about 40fps on medium, though. For $350 it's not bad.
you'd better be prepared for thread shitting and flame wars.
let the mudslinging begin!"MWAHHHAAHAHAH"
It's still Vista, just optimized. 15.6 in. widescreen Intel Celeron 900 2.2 GHZ 3GB RAM Intel X4500HD Graphics Plays HL2 at about 40fps on medium, though. For $350 it's not bad.
Ah, I was about to flip shit on your claims that the 1545 plays games badly, but you have the Intel GPU. I ordered mine customized from the Dell site, so I have: 15.6" Widescreen, Extra-bright Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 4GB DDR2-800 RAM ATi HD4330 256MB So the difference is quite evident. The most impressive thing it has done thus far is play Modern Warfare 2 with decent settings and almost max out L4D2. Obviously runs HL2 at like 150FPS. [editline]09:02PM[/editline] 7 is not as big as a jump from Vista as, say, Vista was from XP. We mostly think it's the same because they look almost identical, take away the taskbar. Vista was 6.0 whilst 7 is 6.1. Not a huge leap, but as we've seen from numerous benchmarks and through trial, Windows 7 is quite literally nothing like Vista at all. It's 500% more compatible with pretty much anything. The pre-packaged drivers are a great idea and, as if I'm telling you something new, it's fucking hilariously fast.
Jimmy has always been an atrocious idiot in my eyes
No, he's still a valuable member nonetheless. We always need somebody around to say something controversial, so that the spectators can watch and learn as we prove him wrong. Nothing hostile, but having a thread perfectly peaceful with a fanboy circlejerk isn't really educational. Jimmy is a valuable member. More so than, say, bobster or another one of those members who drop into thread after thread posting one-liners to get funnies. RE-RAIL, RE- RAIL!
It's still Vista, just optimized.
Of course Windows 7 isn't a very big upgrade for previous Vista users, however you obviously don't know what you're talking when you're saying that it's just an 'optimized' replica of Vista. I remember when Vista came out, people complained how it was "just like XP but with better looks". Windows 7 is more than just an "optimized version of Vista".
Wrong, troll... very wrong. The Windows 7 kernel was optimized and recompiled since Vista.
That is where the money goes.
Hey, how come I can't open up explorer.exe in Reshacker? I'm using 64bit, and it would open up fine in 32bit.
Doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood...! I just hit windows key+ tab on accident.. It is like, a better version of alt+tab.. Awesome.
-I'm just going to shut up since everyone thinks i'm a moron-
Doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood...! I just hit windows key+ tab on accident.. It is like, a better version of alt+tab.. Awesome.
lol, that has been in there since vista was first released. I have found some new stuff that I think is pretty cool though, like windows+p brings up this nifty presenter option thing.
lol, that has been in there since vista was first released. But I built a new computer and got 7 so yeah.
