So, is it too late to still try out the beta? I hear that it doesn't expire till March 2010.
You missed out.
Anyone here have Home Basic and want to be my guinea pig?
So I'm attempting to buy Win7 with the Student discount where I can get it for $30 via
http://windows7.digitalriver.com/store/mswpus/en_US/pd/productID.161678700
However I'm confused. I'm currently on the RC and I want to format this drive and install retail Win7. However, all I can find for the student discount are "Upgrades" from Vista/Xp. It states that if I want to do a clean install I need the Custom version... and never tells me where to get it.
Can anyone help me with this? Is the "upgrade" that's offered there also allow clean installs or what.
Upgrade versions can do a clean install, you just have to change a registry key after you install it to activate.
It was a joke, you cock. If anything, you're the one taking everything I say seriously.
No, sorry, that's not a joke, and 99.9% of the time there'd be a series of insult to accompany it.
Once that childish behavior stops maybe I can start taking your "jokes" the way you intended them; meanwhile, I'll just discuss with nicer people, like Panda.
On a more interesting note, anyone has any luck running Swat 4 on Win 7 64-bit without having some weird window issue where it keeps trying to resize?
Work on your English a bit, by the way. When you try to sound serious and grown up, at least type with some intelligence.
I insult you because you are, frankly, a biased cock. You barely have any interest in Windows or its developer and you post here thinking you're some expert and that you're better than everyone else. Oh, and a number like 99.9% can't be right if I've only been involved in your angry debates 3 times, so while you're at it, learn some math as well.
I'm glad 7 finally has proper font management, instead of the ridiculous shit Vista had.
Eh, there's still some minor problems regarding Cleartype and coloration in text, but otherwise, I haven't really noticed much difference.
If I have Windows XP installed and want to do a clean install of Windows 7 upgrade. Can I still install 64 bit even if XP is 32bit?
Yes, providing that your processor supports 64-bit.
What the fuck, explorer keeps randomly crashing every 5 minutes and it's getting really annoying...
Virus?
I stripped out the quotes because I'm sure you can keep track of what I'm talking about:
-I'm trying to type correctly. Grammatical errors are common when English is your second language. I don't try to sound intelligent either, but I'll take that as a compliment.
-Please, stick to facts, I very much enjoy the UAC improvements in Windows 7, the better performance, the new task bar and the improved boot performance. If liking another OS too means you're biased, then this entire Windows forum is biased I guess. At which point I wouldn't care.
-I don't keep track of internet debates, and I could care less about what you think about my math when I've been through multiple calculus courses with very good grades
-About the expert thing, I know Panda knows a lot more than me about some Windows internals. I know that I'm better than him at programming, and that you're better than me at english (hey, go figure), and that Chandler is a lot better than me at C. If this is related to some other argument, then as I've said, I don't keep track, so you'll have to remind me if you still care (hope not)
Virus?
Yeah, most likely. A lot of viruses inject themselves into explorer to keep working constantly.

I've only been speaking English for 6 years. Doesn't seem to be affecting the way I type at all. It's time to give up that excuse.

That's not what I'm talking about. You seem to dislike Windows and have this typical Linux user mentality that everything else is for stupid people. Which is fine. But then you post here with that mentality. Which is not.

It's not an excuse. I'm serious. I looked at the post above the one where you said the english comment (http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?p=19212494#post19212494), and the only errors I found were accidental mistakes like "there's" instead of "there'd", and a missing comma in the sentence related to Panda X. I learned English by myself, on the internet, mostly by reading what other people typed. Please point out any mistakes left in the post I've linked, that's how I learn(ed).

The keyword is "seem" here. The bold statement isn't what I think. I've probably said some things before like 'Linux is for power users', but by that I meant Linux gives you a lot more power than Windows, not that Windows users aren't power users because they're dumb.
A good example of a real Windows troll would be PvtCupcakes. He tends to say inaccurate or far-fetched things just to trigger their angry bone.
EDIT: On a brighter note, it seems like all of our recent arguments ended out in a make up session. How happy!

Indeed. Having little wars like this isn't really fun.
If you actually did learn English all by your self through the Internet, then I'm afraid you've done well. I learned English in six years, but through schooling and such. Yes, the internet taught me a lot, but I did go to school.

I read that as "make-out session" :suicide:

Will a VM do?
Example of wallpaper artifacting in Win7.

Anyone have any idea how to get rid of it?

What about helping instead of just rating me funny :v:
I read that as "make-out session" :suicide:
Actually, I almost typed that out as a joke.
If you actually did learn English all by your self through the Internet, then I'm afraid you've done well.
I had to go through English classes because it's the law here, but I was more advanced in English than my current grade's class every year because I learned at home (lots of Ventrillo).
It's pretty ridiculous here. In high school, the "hardest" stuff you learn is irregular verbs, which we had to memorize, along with their past participles.
Out of curiosity, what would be your first language?
Out of curiosity, what would be your first language?
French. I'm from Quebec
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go get my Kevlar vest before the English Canadians get to me.
Meh, I'm an English Canadian. As long as you're not a separatist, I don't care where you're from. :v:
Hey, I'm English Canadian too (though I haven't lived in Canada for almost 17 years :frown:)

don't know about seizure, but it sure is irritating the fuck out of me by drawing my attention when I'm trying to read posts
Is there any way to turn off the "pixels" for cleartype fonts, without disabling cleartype?
I mean these green, red, pink pixels around any font that uses cleartype.
Eh, there's still some minor problems regarding Cleartype and coloration in text, but otherwise, I haven't really noticed much difference.
Font Management and Font Sub-pixel Anti-Aliasing are two different things.

You'd make it an aliased looking font. If you can see the red/green without zooming then you need to tweak it by going to the ClearType tuner in the control panel.
^Agreed, I had to use the ClearType Tuner just yesterday. It does it's job.
I installed 7 approximately 23 hours ago.
I fucking love it.
To think it's still new and improving.
Win7 is making me mad, It broke Garry's Mod. and it broke my steam games list.
From what you are saying, it appears you did an upgrade install.
Did you?
Win7 is making me mad, It broke Garry's Mod. and it broke my steam games list.
If it was 7's fault you wouldn't be the only one having this problem.
Meh, I'm an English Canadian. As long as you're not a separatist, I don't care where you're from. :v:
wait how is it you've only been speaking english for 6 years? Unless you are 6 years old?!
