Uh.. [editline]03:14AM[/editline] What?
If you didn't understand, re-read it.
If you didn't understand, re-read it.
That is very cool, still takes me a good 45 minutes or so to get it installed on the ones I have tried.
If you didn't understand, re-read it.
I think he's referring to you not having Windows 7 until now? That was my reaction too.
I think he's referring to you not having Windows 7 until now? That was my reaction too.
Perhaps.
I think he's referring to you not having Windows 7 until now? That was my reaction too.
maybe he was still on the rc. like me.
maybe he was still on the rc. like me.
Running on the 7 RTM Evaluation.
Rockin build 7100 Still too lazy to go get it I will pretty soon though
or perform the upgrade from within Windows and use your key then. Or you could custom install again and use your key, as long as the setup detects a version of Windows present then it will work.
Yeah I've done that already, thanks :).
Also, I installed an OEM ("System Builders") copy of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on my new build recently, and I have to say, it's pretty awesome. The install went nicely, except for the confusion I had at the beginning when the installer window wasn't showing up because I had a floppy drive enabled in the bios. I love the Aero effects and it almost feels like an entirely different OS compared to XP.
it almost feels like an entirely different OS compared to XP.
:raise:
:raise:
I think he means theres some kind of recognisable feeling of XP when using Windows 7. I had that feeling for a hot second, then it kind of fizzled when I got settled into using the (IMHO) latest and greatest New OS.
Just got my TV tuner today, it really makes Windows Media Center useful and awesome. Can record and stuff, and the tuner even came with a remote. Pretty awesome. Always wanted one from the Windows 98 days. (Remember the image below?) That was the quickest install of Windows I've ever been through. Took 11-12 minutes from boot to desk. Cooliosis.
Do it from a fast flash drive and it takes 5-7 minutes.
I ran out of DVD's, and had no spare flash drives around. I made a separate partition and plopped the install into that, and booted into it via grub. Took a good 5 minutes to install. :smug:
Got 7 today. Currently using it and enjoying it. Didn't take any time at all to install. Accidentally formated the wrong hard drive on accident due to being a bit excited and careless. But thankfully I backed it up right before installing. Almost didn't do it too. Haha, that would have sucked.
So quick question Once I'm done putting together my new computer (and if everything is hooked up correctly) do I just turn it on, and put in the Windows 7 CD and it does the rest? Or do I need to go into the BIOS and set it to run the DVD-ROM first?
Yeah, use jpegs with 100% quality.
I always use .PNG's
Does anyone know if it is possible to ring up MS over the Student discounts? I know I shouldn't have left it until last minute, but my College webmail server has been fucking up all holiday, and this holiday was the only time I've actually been able to get money. I cannot retrieve my conformation e-mail to log on and finish buying the damn thing thanks to shitty administration. I was wondering if you lot knew another way to get the offer.
Just reinstalled my Windows 7 again. Love clean installs. It's like taking a shower in the morning; it just starts your day off right! Can someone point me in the right direction for Windows 7 themes. Google seems to have failed me. Also, is it possible to change the login screen instead of that bright background.
http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=&section=&q=windows%207%20vs Make sure to patch your system using uxstyle first before applying themes. And as for changing the login background, use this: http://www.julien-manici.com/windows_7_logon_background_changer/
So I downloaded this one theme but where do I put all the stuff like the fonts and the theme itself?
So I downloaded this one theme but where do I put all the stuff like the fonts and the theme itself?
Fonts go into "%systemroot%\Fonts" Theme goes into "%systemroot%\Resources\Themes" (Just paste it into Run or the Address Bar, they're valid)
I have a quick question regarding upgrading from windows xp to windows 7. The upgrade requires windows xp, but does it require the latest service pack and other xp updates? I plan on reinstalling by using my old xp disk that has service pack 1 on it, and skipping the service pack updates and other updates, and using the windows 7 disk
You can only do a clean install so it won't matter.
Example of wallpaper artifacting in Win7. Anyone have any idea how to get rid of it? [editline]03:26AM[/editline] What about helping instead of just rating me funny :v:
i don't know if anyone answered but i just dragged the wallpaper i wanted into firefox and rightclicked on it and set as wallpaper no quality rape or anything
Just noticed a bug, when you have small icons on and titles showing, and you hover over an icon and then move your mouse away, the colored glow remains.
Also, the refresh button next to "Currently connected to:" at the taskbar doesn't seem to work.
Just noticed a bug, when you have small icons on and titles showing, and you hover over an icon and then move your mouse away, the colored glow remains.
That bug's always been in 7. It doesn't only happen on small icons either. The superbar has many bugs. That, endless flash, sometimes won't launch program on click (or multiple clicks) are the three biggest.
